SOS - The homemade biscuits are little bites from heaven, so light and fluffy!

Breakfast at Little Mama's Cafe is a Wonderful Start for Any Day! We started our day with a large order of SOS and a Breakfast Plate with a pancake topped with fried apples. It was a great breakfast! The Biscuits for the SOS were AMAZING homemade bites of perfection. Big, fluffy, light airy and tender bites of deliciousness. Definitely recommend getting at least one biscuit when you visit. The pancake with fried apples was SO GOOD! The pancake was light and fluffy with a good flavor and nice crispy edges. The fried apples were the delicious surprise. The apples were tender but still had a nice bite and the sauce was the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar. I could eat a bowl of the apples all by themselves. But they did make a wonderful topping for the pancake. The other items with the breakfast helped round out the meal. The coffee was hot, the bacon was thick and cooked perfectly and the home fries were fresh cut potatoes cooked with onions and bell peppers cooked crispy on the outside but still soft inside. Will admit the eggs were not the best but were okay, we got them scrambled and they were scrambled into little bits. The service was great. We were greeted at door and server was so personable and friendly but not too personal. She definitely had the small town charm you like to have at a home town diner. Great experience and we look forward to an opportunity to return.

With our dog in tow, we needed pet-friendly seating, and Joe Mountain fit the bill with their outdoor patio. It turned out to be the perfect choice--the weather was beautiful, and the back patio was completely empty, giving us a quiet, relaxing spot to enjoy our meal. The indoor space is small with limited seating, but the patio more than made up for it. The menu is on the smaller side, but the items were unique and definitely caught our attention. My wife ordered the Baffle--a creative take on biscuits and gravy where the biscuit is pressed into a waffle. I went with the Blue Cheese Omelette. Honestly, I never would have thought of putting blue cheese in an omelet, but it worked! It was rich, flavorful, and so memorable that I'm planning to recreate it at home. Drink choices were limited (no sodas except root beer), but we made it work. Service was easy--we were told to order inside when ready, and everything came out promptly. Overall, Joe Mountain was a fun little stop with a quirky menu and a great outdoor setup. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit, as the timing and crowd level made the experience even better. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, especially if you enjoy patio dining with a pet by your side!

We've tried a few things on the menu: veggie omelet, different kinds of French toast, and the food is really good and very reasonably priced. My husband loves the Mexican skillet. It's usually too much food and I'm ready for a nap shortly after eating lol. They don't do online orders or allow you to call in for pick up, but if you go to the restaurant and order there, food is always ready in a timely manner (usually less than 15-20 minutes) no matter how busy they are. We typically order takeout on a Saturday but have also dined in at the restaurant. Walked in with a group of three and were seated at an open booth in less than 5 minutes. Our waitress was energetic, polite, and patient as it was my mom's first time visiting. Coffee was delicious, a lot of food as usual, and it came out before I could even start on my second cup of coffee. I've tried the chicken sausage in the past and wasn't happy with it, but the turkey bacon was nice and crispy. Don't get the grits. Hash browns can at times be too crispy depending on who's in the kitchen I guess, so if you like them crispy, order at your own risk -- I usually have no complaints though. Tried the grits one time and told myself I wouldn't do that again lol Bathrooms are also clean. Honestly haven't even tried the other brunch places in Lawton because this one is so good, never disappoints, and has so many options. Will venture out sooner or later lol

Saturday was our big "do everything" day, since this was just a weekend trip. So we hiked one of the most difficult hikes in the refuge, and then rewarded ourselves with dinner afterwards at this place. I am a vegetarian/near-vegan (I eaten mostly vegan except for maybe a few things here and there on rare occasions, but never any meat). Anyways, I had no idea that this place had even existed until I did a little Google search on healthy spots around the Lawton area. And I was so excited to find this place. We walked in on a Saturday evening, probably around 6:30 or so. The place was almost empty. You are allowed to pick your own seats, so we picked a nice cozy little booth right next to the front door. They have an extensive drink menu (alcoholic, and non-alcoholic), so that was pretty cool. I had originally wanted to try their apple cider, but I was told that they were out unfortunately. So instead i got one of their mango green iced teas. All of our drinks were served in mason jars, which personally I absolutely love. I drink out of jars and repurpose jars all the time at home, so I love seeing it at restaurants too! My husband ordered their cashew cheese nacho plate, and I was very curious to try their carrot dogs. They have three different types of carrot dogs, you can order them separately, or you can order all three of them as like a plate. So I went ahead and ordered all three. I truly did not know what to expect, this is my first time ever having a carrot dog. You would think with me being a vegetarian for 22 years, that I would've tried to carrot dog by now, but no. First time! I was BLOWN AWAY. My husband, who is a flexitarian, was was also blown away. By the carrot dogs. They were absolutely amazing! Him and I shared bites of both of our orders. His vegan cashew cheese nachos were absolutely delicious as well! And they were loaded! They put some type of veggie chili on top and oh my gosh, that chili is divine. Our waitress checked up on us often, as well as the man behind the bar, who I am assuming is one of the owners. He was very friendly and nice to us. We ended our meal with a slice of their strawberry shortcake. It was a bit dense, but very flavorful, and there was coconut, whipped cream on top, which was so so good. I have zero complaints. Everything was absolutely amazing. When we look back on that road trip, and my husband tells me what his favorite part of the trip was - it was this place!! Prior to this trip, there was only one restaurant we loved so much that was far away that we would be willing to drive 5-6 hrs for (from Austin). But now, that number has been bumped to two. It's very unsuspecting from the outside. It kind of just looks like one of those little hole in the wall roadside food joints. But don't let that fool you, this place is hands down some of the best veg food I've had!
