Ok. A little slow in service and the phone kept ringing. They have the phone on a loud speaker and people are calling constantly.

So after struggling to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the berbs, I did have high expectations for this gem. Although the street appeal probably isn't anything to woo at, and inside is a tad bit dated, yet is still humble in a family restaurant kind of way. I feel it may have been the owners who were working the front of house, and they were both lovely. They clearly have been in the business a while and did a good job and making us feel comfortable, and giving us a little giggle as well. The menu had heaps of choose from. Seemed as if there were a few extra options compared to other basic Chinese restaurants, including a traditional and western dessert menu. I had the Chicken Satay dish off the chef special menu. It was amazing. The sauce was flavoursome and certainly didn't seem like out of a jar type of thing. It was served with broccoli pieces as well as a little burning flame in the middle of the plate. My partner had the Sizzling Steak Mongolian style dish and the pieces were tender and juicy, with lovely sweet and tangy Mongolian flavours through-out. The plate was also served with vegetables. I love this place. It's my new found gem. I've been searching a while for a nice place to grab some quality Chinese food, and I think I've found my stop. This place isn't anything designer or high-end perhaps, but it still possess a charming old-school look and humble home-style meals, which is something I look when dining at Asian restaurants in the berbs.

The staff is just about as friendly as you can get.. Service was quick and prices where very good. Food was good, I have had better but it's defiantly the best Chinese food in the area. My son has asked me if we can eat there again every night since trying the place. This will become our local Chinese takeaway from now on.

Do you like authentic Chinese Takeaway? Do you enjoy thin strips of meat with a wonderful authentic…read moresauce? Then Silver Swan Chinese Takeaway is not the place for you. First, let me say there's NOTHING WRONG with the food you get at Silver Swan. Absolutely nothing at all! The problem is that it panders to the Western idea of what Eastern food should be. If you order a steak meal, you don't get thin strips of meat. Instead you get thick chunks of steak with a thick overly flavoursome sauce. Again, I have to say there is NOTHING wrong with that at all if that's what you like. If however, you like an authentic Chinese meal with thin strips of steak & a light sauce then this isn't the place for you. Also of note is the delivery service. If you are local to Silver Swan you can have your meal delivered.

Honestly i am no snob or picky eater... but this place is terrible…read more For the mains home delivered We order 2 serves of garlic "king" prawns: The meal arrived 1 hour later, slighty warm, and each serve consisted of roughly 10 frozen prawns swimming in an awkwardly slimy sauce, very, very heavy on the garlic (powder i believe) occupanied only by a couple of strands of onion... we paid $18 each serve for somthing that showed no respect for the customer and could be replicated for less then $3. The springs rolls we recieved with our meal were actually cooked and tasted pretty good. Surprisingly... The fried rice was the typical fried rice you would recieve from a chinese resturant. Nothing special though. Honestly... Avoid this place at all costs, do not waste your time as the owners clearly do not care about you or your repeat business.

I remember as a small child driving past this place, and that fact that I'm 32 now and it's still there is a testament to the quality food you get at this place. As with all Asian restaurants it's the satay I gravitate towards, and they certainly don't disappoint. There was a strong nutty flavour with this one that I really enjoyed. The spring rolls were really nice, but... ... my partner disagrees. She thinks the place is very ordinary and not worth the fuss I make over it. She's only been the once and that was enough for her. I had a bit of her beef with black bean and it was very nice. What she doesn't like about it I don't know. Either way, I'm the one writing this review so I'll rate it based on my opinions and I was impressed! She's just going to have to deal with it...

The pork in plum sauce passable but the beef in black bean sauce was awful. The meal was poorly presented on flat white side plates, tepid and unappetising. The cost was also misrepresented as the large print says one price and when we came to pay they pointed to a higher price in small print. Pay more if there's only two of you! Will not go back.
