    Three Chopt, Near West End

How unique is this LFL!! So clever and colorful with paintings of Dr. Seuss characters and quotes…read moreon every inch of this cute, blue community book box! Oh, the places you'll go indeed, when you expand your mind and open the spine of a book! I was a former English teacher and advocated reading all sorts of literature to my students. Fancy a love story, an adventure, a historical drama, an autobiography, a sci-fi tale, a poetic piece, a best seller, a Shakespearean tragedy (I chose a copy of MacBeth to take home!) a comical farce, a political view?? This library has it all! Well, almost! If your interests lean toward theology, you are out of luck! I love the imaginative and mostly welcoming spirit of this Little Free Library. The steward of this neighborhood library lets their personal views hinder some types of books they allow included though, which of course is their prerogative. I'm thankful actual libraries welcome a variety of books, opinions and points of view despite political, social, or religious affiliation. Of course, no one wants these LFLs to be inundated with just one genre of book, but to ban certain books is questionable to say the least. I think anyone's voice should be heard, "no matter how small", and I think Horton would agree. Come sit on the hand painted bench, it's a little nook! You may take a load off to read a good book! Feel free to take a book home or maybe leave one! Either way, you are bound to have lots of fun! (But don't leave religious books, they frown on that! Which is rather prejudice, says this cat in the hat!) To "throw" books away is sad and quite rude, Freedom of speech is my foremost attitude. The sign says "be kind" and on that we agree But the box & your minds should be open and free! To be inclusive, welcome all sorts books People vary in tastes, personalities and looks! Yet you are the steward, to boycott is your choice But I'd rather see everyone's books and hear their voice! Science, history, poetry, theology or romance I think all titles should be given a chance! The creativity on this library has earned them 5 stars, But don't discriminate on topic, or put freedom in jars Dr. Seuss was a genius, and came to other's defense I wonder how he'd feel? But that's just my two cents!

(after losing Bin Laden who was trapped in Afghanistan.) some random events/policies of Bushco -extralegal wiretaps focused on limiting the spread of nuclear weapons by focusing on Khan of Pakistan who openly sold nuclear knowledge. 2d focus was invading Iraq. -they earched worldwide for al Queda associates who may be plotting the next attack on America. torture was a tool to force information from associates. -in the US, 2000+ Arabs & Arab Americans were racially profiled for acting "strange". when charges weren't filed due to lack of actionable evidence, Bushco had them deported. -the cheney doctrine declared: "...If there's a 1% chance that Pakistani scientists are helping al Queda build or develop a nuclear weapon, we have to treat it as a certainty in terms of our response" -early '03, surveillance on al Queda sources went silent, they no longer used Western Union, the internet or any former means of communicating. -Nov '03, Norwegian intelligence relayed an al Queda video imploring their followers to focus attacks on Spain, Britain, & Poland. (they had sent troops to Iraq). *this lead the CIA to believe it was local affiliates of al Queda doing the planning & funding, no longer from al Queda central. -during the '04 Presidential campaign, leaks from the CIA indicated the war in Iraq was beginning to turn into a civil war. shortly, top levels of the CIA were replaced. their new duty was to craft plans to support the administration's agenda, not to be a "fact-finding" agency that raises questions. -in Oct. 2004, Bin Laden broadcasted an anti-Bush message, essentially a campaign ad to vote for Bush . (the consensus of the CiA) Suskind holds Bush & co responsibie for the extralegal wiretaps, and the misquided missions.

The staff is so friendly, and the selection of books is LARGE. There is something for everyone here, whether you're looking for a classic, a mystery, manga, a cookbook, or even a puzzle. They also do little events throughout the year, and put a lot of love and thought into them. If you follow their social media you can see when the events are and I encourage you to attend! They always have a fun game or free gift or little treats. It is such a homey feel, and is so great if you like the classic bookstore feel. The pricing structure is also simple and straightforward; you pay half the cover price for any book you get (which means many of the older books/airport readers are a super great deal). Couldn't recommend more!

Books are 50% off the cover price, in the back there are 1$, 2$, & 3$ books marked with…read morecorresponding stars *. I picked up a couple of books from those shelves. There's a section for vintage and classic books and an adorable couch to sit on if you want to get cozy and read a bit. The window displays are always cute, there's a "beach" read theme for the summer! Inside there's a mystery display. Current popular authors are found as well as some obscure ones. Very small poetry section, which is sad as I'm a fan and writer of poetry! Nice and helpful staff!

My husband and I left our home state of New Jersey because rents are skyrocketing up to six…read morethousand dollars a range between two-six thousand dollars a month and the bus service is terrible. So on August 29 2024, we came to Virginia. From August 29-December 15 2024, we stayed at an extended Stay America hotel before finding a one bedroom apartment at the William Byrd Senior Apartments in Richmond. Life was wonderful. The apartment was pretty with a phenomenal view. Rent included utilities there is a van that takes residents shopping. There is a community room, library, and laundry room and parties. The property managers got a bed donated for us. Tap on a clip to paste it in the text box. They put us in contact with an insurance agent who is also a volunteer outreach worker and he set us up with our current health insurance plans. The one lady in charge even looked up restaurants so my husband Steve and I could have Christmas plans. She told us about the JCC and now we have free memberships. Then things changed. The central air system broke down and hasn't been repaired. The elevators constantly break down and the three public bathrooms are locked. The William Byrd has bedbugs. Two neighbors told us they had the bedbugs. One neighbor said she had them twice years before Steve and I moved in. Another neighbor said she had them four years ago when she first moved in. Another friend and neighbor had them and recently moved out. We reported our problem and at first management was kind. We were told You won't be evicted. It's not a housekeeping problem bedbugs are no one's fault they are insidious they come from everywhere and anywhere. The next day we were blamed for the problem. Management said we brought them from the hotel. This isn't true we never had problems at the hotel. Management stole our security deposit and put it in escrow because we had Bedbugs. We had to sleep on the floor for two weeks. We were isolated. We couldn't go to the laundry, library, or community room. We couldn't sit in the lobby were told we couldn't talk to other tenants. We moved out. The good news we are bedbug free because the hotel we moved to had laundry facilities and we laundered our clothes. We contacted senior Connections and were given a social worker named Emily. She misled us. She asked us what we needed. We told her help getting a furnished room and advocate to get our security deposit back. She basically just emailed us a list of agencies which we called. Eight numbers and only two called back saying they couldn't help us. Emily didn't come through. From Steve I called Emily. All she did was tell me what she couldn't do. Emily said the agency doesn't send anyone to meet with people in need they just send lists. I spoke to the Mayor s office and told the woman in the Mayor's office and was told someone would get back to me and no one ever did. I was told I would be sent an email contact. That didn't happen Jackie and I didn't hear from anyone. I contacted social services and was told they don't send anyone out to meet with people in crisis. All they do is send lists. From Jackie and Steve I told the woman in the Mayor's office that one of the major reasons people are homeless is because no one goes out to these people to find out what their needs are when and if they are contacted. These agencies don't send anyone out. They are supposed to work for the people we don't work for them. They wouldn't have jobs if it weren't for us. Property Management and landlords wouldn't be employed without tenants. This hands off attitude on the part of social services and the city is a disgrace. If they can't or won't help people in need of housing or other services they should pack up and go home. They shouldn't be getting a paycheck for doing virtually nothing. All they do is tell folks what they can't do never what they can do. If they can't help anyone why are they there. These people live in cushy land. They get titles a paycheck and a benefits package and do nothing to earn it. Some people in the twenty first century are entitled. Give me a job money and benefits but don't expect me to work hard and earn it. A tech savvy ten year old could press a computer send button to email lists to people. These folks have it made job wise. Cushy land. God Forbid they they should leave their offices and their umbilical cord attachment to their computers.
