And this home is no different. Full of flowers and ornaments and decorations this home seems to just ooze peace and beauty and calm. On a frantic day it's the kind of place you'd want to just sit for a moment....and pause.....and think. A place where you'd leave more refreshed and settled than you were when you arrived. A place that's just awesome.

Packed with a wide variety of reading material from memoirs to the Bible to Stephen King, you've got all sorts of options. And you have a rustic, rough hewn bench to enjoy them on under the shade of a nearby tree. This is a great little neighborhood find.

This is a beautiful, orderly Little Free Library next to an equally beautiful and identically…read moreorderly home. But it's a little tough to find. Both my GPS (Am I the only one that still has one?) and my mapping app tried to take me to the wrong place. It's on Noble, in that funny, little triangle between the 5, the 405 and the 118 freeways. This time I ignored my glowing boxes and just went with what made sense. And what do you know, found it right off. The library was stocked with a variety of books to interest a variety of readers and even had the extra special feature, a short retaining wall perfect for a quick peek at that extra appealing selection. A appreciate the owners willingness to give to the community and I'm grateful for the chance to explore a neighborhood that strangely enough, I'd never seen before.

This Little Free Library sits inside the LA Police Station so it's protected from the weather and…read moreany criminal foolishness. It is, without a doubt, the largest LFL I've ever seen. It's a wide, tall, generous, three tiered structure just packed full of books. On the whole it's a wild jumble of mostly thin, mostly small kids books. But I did find a quick summary of the life of Andrew Hallidie, the man credited with inventing the cable car. It was a cool, fascinating little story. Made me appreciate cable cars more. And made me wish I could have seen San Francisco when there were dozens of cable car lines criss-crossing nearly the entire city.

The owner of this Little Free Library was outside when I arrived, so I got to meet him and talk for…read morea while. What a pleasure. He explained that he first saw an LFL on a trip to the east coast of Canada. That's a long way to go for a library! He saw others once he was back home and decided his neighborhood needed one too. So he repurposed a tri-level garage cabinet and filled it full of his favorites. And if you find that fascinating book that demands to be read right now, he's furnished his yard with a chair, a bench and two flat stumps for your sitting pleasure. And the rules that are so familiar at a traditional library do NOT apply here. You're welcome to eat, drink, speak loudly, sing and play instruments while you're here. In fact if you could do all of them at once that would probably be allowed too! So go, explore, create and discover at this lovely, little neighborhood gem.

She explained that her son had made the library and it was he who had come up with the unusual roofline planter. She then offered me some of her homegrown grapefruit. Considering all the fear and anxiety that so many people are going through with the Corona virus it was sweet to enjoy a little person to person interaction and a little human kindness. It's nearly as vital as the air we breathe.

This free library is enjoyed by so many people and it brings me such joy to see it used daily. And I'd hate to see the one bad apple in the bunch ruin it for the rest of us.
