She likes that there are a variety of dogs and smells, a good stretch of turf to run, running water, and benches to jump on or hide under when it all gets to be too much. Having tried Park Slope Day Camp, and the YMCA at Court St for other school breaks, I can attest to the fact that this one is MILES ahead of the rest. I don't really use the play-space, but I live near the Underhill location so I can see the wee ones having a blast while we demolish Blue Marble cones (which deserve four stars, too.) Oh, and 'eliza b' visited the Atlantic Ave space in March '09 but in the Fall they moved to a huge space at 110 Schermerhorn so the picture above is obsolete. It's true, they were growing out of the old space and it was beginning to show. But you've got to admire a young business going for expansion in a recession. Rock on.

my last review was taken down because it did not appear to be a "first-hand" experience…read more interesting. i'll try this again; this time i'll elaborate. i babysat 2 children and used this space in March 2009. it was awful. there were broken toys, the place was dirty (grit on the floor, slimy toys, and the red couch up front is fiiiilthy). the desk up front was cluttered and there was food all over the computer. the girl at the computer seemed to have no idea what was going on and could not provide me with any relevant information or answer my questions. some of the teachers and teachers' assistants appeared to be very nice & attentive to the kids they were watching - i found no fault there. however; there is no natural light, and i saw toys far too small for toddlers to be playing with strewn about through the play space (one of the boys - 18 mos. - i was watching handed me a very small plastic toy fruit that could easily have caused problems if he had put it in his mouth). check this place out if you're unsure - the clutter and mess right in the front area is truly a telling sign of the overall condition of this place. not good, not clean, not professionally run.

Later that evening I returned w/ my boo to see Broadway Bounty Hunter. Great show by the way. If you can, I'd recommend you snag some tickets and see it for yourself. The entryway housed security, box office, elevator, and after it was set up: a snack stand, souvenir stand, and photo ensemble. Behind all of that was the theatre space. Cool space overall and well designed. I'm not sure if the mezz space is handicapped accessible. We took stairs to the far left of the stage to get to our seats. The railings are a little bit wobbly in some areas, so I wouldn't rest on them with all your weight. They would block your vision if you're shorter than the railing once seated if you're in the front mezz. Rear mezz might have better luck. There's a tech person to the right mezz so it's best not to have interference there. There's a cool video of the sound dudes that I noticed when we were exiting the theatre. It's on the overhang of the mezz in the middle. The sound overall was a tad too loud. Some of the singing was tough to hear/make the words... it helps if you try to follow the performers' lips. The props were simple and worked well with the space, set, and play. I think they used two huge tv screens for the scenery backdrop. I'm curious to find out what other plays and performances they host there and might be back for more!

I purchased my tickets on GROUPON and got such a FABULOUS, almost criminal deal! And the original tickets started at $61!!!! Gotta be kidding me! The play was called "Black Light", and left you with taking a deeper look at your values and the turbulent race relations we are facing in today's society. The playhouse was a typical theatre, the restroom facilities were in the spooky basement (insert wide eyes!) but actually I really don't have anything else to say about this establishment. My personal experience was my many attempts trying to get them to hire me. After years in Human Service I felt I had something to offer. After many attempts applying I gave up. Just shows you they value your religious philosophy and the source of your education over your work ethic and unblemished extensive work record. I've made attempts to donate furniture and the truck didn't show up. I give my donations to Goodwill and Housing Works now. The Christmas Salvation Army employees are very cute and friendly. Some even sing Christmas Carols. They're worth a couple bucks. I may need their help sometime.

All in-person donations are to be dropped off with the gentleman at the front desk. You can also request a receipt if needed. They have different events throughout the month. The pantry drive is every 3rd Saturday.
