Also, they have universal pre-K WITH after school available until 5.45pm and are actively working to get universal 3-K as well. Tuition is accessible to ALL. This is great for working and non-working parents. Staff is amazing! They're all committed to taking care of the kids and always provide very personalized feedback on my kids. They adapt their care to each kid, each personality and make sure everyone feels good. They were particularly helpful for potty training, and very patient too! The new director is really making sure all key information are well communicated to the parents and is always seeking for enhancements. They have a curriculum for each of the classes, starting at 2 year old. A typical day starts with music, breakfast and circle time. Then they have a learning activity. They would spend time outside is weather permitted. They do art projects, learn songs, dance,... Also, they have a huge outdoor private playground (very rare in Manhattan) where the kids can play. They have a lot of toys from slide to seesaw and even scooters. They provide lunch as well, made by a wonderful cook on the premises in an actual kitchen. Week menus are provided to the parents (there is always a fruit for desert). I'm so happy we discovered this daycare and I'm confident that my kids there are growing so well and are very safe. Also note that they handled the Covid crisis perfectly. They organized recurrent zoom meetings (3 per week) to make sure the kids don't disconnect from school. Thanks to the great staff again! I recently removed my children from there after three months of their being enrolled. The main…read morereason was that one of my children kept coming home, saying that he was afraid to go to school, and considering that he had attended a different preschool prior to this, and never said anything like that, we were worried, we informed his teacher who basically dismissed it. We informed the Director of the school who accused me of lying. If I knew then what I know now I would have recorded every conversation I had with any member of that school especially the teacher of the three-year-olds. I am 100% positive that this teacher has lied to me and lied about certain things at least twice, and an audio recording of our conversations would validate everything I have to say. I protected my kids by pulling them out. You should protect yourself going in there. Legally, in the state of New York, you are allowed to record your conversations with another person without them knowing that you were doing so. This is a law that changes on a state-by-state basis. If I am a liar, then nothing bad happens if you record the conversation because there would be nothing to report. But since I'm positive I am not lying and I suspect I am not the only person who's gone through this, you should go ahead and start proactively recording your conversations with the teacher, because when they accuse you of lying, you can prove that you were telling the truth.

This is our third school year here and we can't recommend it enough. We don't live in the neighborhood - actually never did, but it came highly recommended by our friends whose two children went here and loved it, so we came and never looked back. The care and the love our munchkin gets at the gan is well worth the commute. Esther (the "superhuman" as the other reviewers have mentioned) and the teachers are warm and welcoming and very hands on - so the kids do a lot of arts and crafts, and baking and watching (leaves turn yellow, caterpillars turn into butterflies etc), they get messy and silly, and relax, and enjoy being themselves. They do learn letters, and numbers, and songs and stories, but most importantly they learn to play together, share, love each other and appreciate themselves - which is the foundation for their entire life.

The teachers and supervisor are completely unprofessional. Here are the reasons: - My son came injured 4 days out of 5 day (in a week). One day they called my telling me that my son fell down and hit a chair with the forehead. I asked to to see the video. The supervisor told me that it is impossible to show me the video. She does not know that Division of Child Care Services of New York regulates that video surveillance equipment are for the purpose of allowing parents to view their children in the day care. Anyways, parents are in their right to see what happen with their children at the day care. However, the blonde supervisor thinks that parents have to pay the tuition and forget about WATCH their own children. Very UNPROFESSIONAL. - They told me every day that my son ate all the food every day. A couple of days I took my son from the day care without previous notice at 4 pm. Then, they gave me back the whole lunch back. They did not have time to throw away the lunch. However, the daily report on the app (Tadpoles parent) was written - all the food from home-. When next day I asked about the food the supervisor turned and walk away. , she replied that my son ate all the food that the teacher offered to him. That is impossible because they did not open the food container. That is why, my son got home very very hungry every day. - In a very cold day of December, the teachers gave a ride to the babies in Central Park without gloves. I believe they were very busy to put the gloves on to the babies. - They broke the zip of a brand new jacket of my son and they did not say anything to me. - My wife and I always speak over the phone using head phones. However, my son take any small toy and play to speak over the phone. He did not learn that from us. That means, my son has been seeing teacher speak over their mobile phone over and over and over. That could be the reason that babies get injured because they are not well supervised. - On the Tadpoles parent app, Sunshine's 5th ave staff sent us a TEACHER APPRECIATION PDF. On that file, every staff asked for a gift, like Amazon or Visa gift cards, CASH, even they said what things they do not want to get as a gift. Support staff were the only sensible people. They wrote "ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS APPRECIATED". - Once I paid the week tuition with my credit card. A couple of weeks later, I did not take my son to the day care. Then I called them to let them know that I will go to pay the tuition in the afternoon but my surprise was when a lady replied me, "it is not necessary you come to pay, I have your credit card information. I can charge the weekly tuition fee". Why did they keep my credit card information? - Once I met my son teacher. She told me that my son does not listen to her because when she tells him - sit down on that chair, my son does not make it-. My son is 1 year old, he does not understand the word's meaning! Very UNPROFESSIONAL. If you appreciate your children, look for a different day care.

Our neighborhood preschool is an absolute gem and we couldn't be happier with it! My second child…read morepresently attends and I have an older child that graduated. What impresses me most is that everything in the classroom and every daily activity is thoughtfully considered to help a child's development and inspire a sense of wonder for learning. The teachers are professionals who have studied child development and are often working on graduate degrees in education (or already have advanced degrees). The school is a warm and welcoming environment. The teachers are accessible and happy to answer any questions. The school also has "teacher talks" where they meet with parents and chat about different topics - like mindful parenting, creating positive sleep, dealing with transitions, etc. Classes are small, and well staffed. There are community building events like "Shabbat sing" and parent get-togethers. Kids talk about Jewish holidays and have occasionally had visitors (a rabbi who demos an oil press to make oil for Hanukah). I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this wonderful preschool. In a city with overwhelming choices and opinions, it is probably one of the only parenting decisions I'm thrilled about.

My husband and I have somewhat hectic and unpredictable schedules, and Corbin has been great to accommodate us if we need to change our hours, or increase the amount of time my son needs care on any given week. VERY rare to find that in a daycare! The staff, Paula and Cassie, are wonderful. They are very attentive to all of the children. What I like best is that they make every effort to take the children out on trips when the weather is nice. They have been to the museum, the park, the Art Farm, the zoo, and the library for story time. I have always felt my son was safe in their hands. I have never had any concerns with regards to his safety. They have plenty of toys and in the summer the children can play in their small backyard. The other children and parents are very nice, and we often run into each other outside the daycare at the park! It's nice when my son sees his daycare friends.
