The railroad tracks that the depot sits on is known as The Western & Atlantic Railroad which was built by the state of Georgia in 1836 at a reportedly cost of 5 million dollars (125 million in today's money.) It is the building of this 138 miles rail tracks that really put Atlanta on the map... If you're a Walking Dead Fan then you know about Terminus...well that was the name originally given to the city of Atlanta. Terminus means "the end point" which was what Atlanta was at the time. The "end of the line" for W&A railroad. Most historians believe that the "end point" probably is where the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot is in downtown Atlanta. (if you're feeling extra history-ish you can go see the stone marker that marked the spot of "the end" at Underground Atlanta. It's known as The Atlanta Zero Mile post.) The Kennesaw Train Depot was restored to its former glory in 2001 at a cost of $150,000 according of their website. It now is a museum and an event venue. There is also a small park next to it known as Depot Park with a small play ground, an outdoor museum narrating the great locomotive chase of the civil war and a pedestrian underpass. In front of the museum there is a tall lamp clock dedicated to city council member Jerry Worthan for his 20 years of service to the city of Kennesaw. Across the street there is the Southern Museum of Civil WAr Locomotive History Museum that houses the famous locomotive "The General". It's a great place to visit for any Civil war history buff....hope you'll check it out.

The structure is brown with a shingle roof, though it could use a little care. One of the shingles is missing and the front door panel is gone, leaving the books inside exposed to wind and rain. It is still standing and still serving its purpose, but it feels a bit forgotten. Inside, the shelves hold a colorful mix of mostly paperbacks. Today, the selection leaned heavily toward romance novels. That is not my usual pick, but it might be just right for someone else passing through. The books were dry for now, but without a door, that may not last. There is no listing for this library on the Little Free Library database map and no visible signage to indicate who maintains it or whether any group sponsors it. Had a great opportunity to visit The Acworth Book & Storytelling Festival. It was very well-organized event and had forty authors sharing their amazing stories with visitors. Would be wonderful to read every attending Author's book. Sorry, " so many books and so little time." The weather was great, and it was perfect to have part of the event outside. This was my first visit to this Arts Center, and I can't wait to see what other events they have to offer.

I enjoy searching for items that are the color of the week to maximize on savings. On my most recent visit, I was able to leave with five items and three were the sale color. The color of the week was red and items that color were 50% off of the price listed for their free reward program members. The experience can vary at thrift stores based on the current donations and how associates tag the clothing, but I would come back when in the area to shop, especially for the half off savings.

Had a great time with my 6 and 9 year old kids last week during "dad camp". I would budget at least 2 hours here or as many as 3 if your kids are going to interact with the butterflies and the turtles and do the scavenger hunt as mine did. The indoor exhibit is small but charming and there are a few native species around. The downstairs education center also does a scavenger hunt every month which is really cool. They've done an amazing job of "gamifying" nature/science learning with their points based rewards system and natural objects exchange. We learned a lot about butterflies and caterpillars on our quest. The points thing goes a long way to motivating little ones that may be more skeptical about "learning" experiences and museums. But if you have kids who are more active and will walk, the variety of local trails contained within the nature center is quite nice. I would recommend coming here for adults without kids too for this reason. I heard there were little fairy houses somewhere too here but. I didn't see them. We saw the beaver, a variety of different birds including hawks and owls, and tons of other local animals. It was cool to see how intentional the design was of the outdoor sections and the map they give you at the gift shop/ticket counter is helpful. I also like how they have lots of play areas built in outside for kids to explore in a less structured way. They also have some nice picnic spots. Staff were friendly and helpful. "Feeding" (with the little sugar sticks) the butterflies was fantastic. Even on a hot summer day, I'm super glad we came and if it wasn't so far from where I lived I would attend more regularly/become a member.

The beavers are a favorite in our house!

Manager was up at the registers and easily could have opened up another line and chose not to. Absolutely ridiculous. Goodwill needs to either add an express lane or self checkout for people purchasing small amounts of items.

We were able to snag free street parking right next the theatre, greeted promptly and kindly upon arrival and checked in just a few feet from the door. We bypassed the concessions stand - which stemmed quite popular - and were escorted to our seats. Comfortable seating, possibly not a bad view in the house. Beautifully maintained. Great acoustics. And an AMAZING show! I cannot wait to return!

Every time there was a musical number, we could NOT hear the actors singing. The music was too darn loud. I thought it was me (not really). Nope! During intermission and the end, I overheard others talking about the horrible audio. Several left at intermission- I wish I did. The mics- also need lots of help. Parade- Leo Frank was supposed to be a good event. Hard to enjoy what you can't hear. Seats also very uncomfortable.
