This library is located in the McAlpine neighborhood of Charlotte on a very quiet street that had two separate dog walkers when we stopped by. It is easy to spot, painted white with gray trim. It could be a little Tudor-style house all on its own.
The library has a single door secured by a catch. Inside, two shelves of neatly stacked books. Some retired library books, some hardcovers, some paperbacks. Lots of childrens, some science fiction, some reference and some non-fiction. I was tempted by A Wrinkle in Time but I'll leave it here so that perhaps someone else can enjoy this classic.
This is charter number 165563. The online listing has the steward's name and a caption, "The Beautiful Painted Tree Library! The McCorkle Family worked so hard and it looks great! My grandmother always loved to read so my husband said he would build this and dedicated it to my grandmother "PomPom". Pompom's wings were invisible but many saw them through the beauty she shined into the world! She was a friend to everyone she met and made an impression on each and every one of us. No one loved life more than our sweet and loving Pompom. Here's to you in heaven Pompom we miss you and hope that people can enjoy reading as much as you did."
