Service: All the vendors was pleasant Selection: More…read morevendors than I have ever experienced; some had 2 tents which I never seen before at a food fest. They got the bag...well they at least got mine! Value: Only thing that I was surprised about was that, each vendor charge over $12+ and up on average per tent. I was shocked that the candied fruit on a stick was $29 for 2 sticks . Wow for fruits so, I had to try at least 1 which was 1/2 the price. Entertainment was awesome, I love the young Asian guy rapping & singing. He is very talented! I loved this event & may go back next year.

There was a live show featuring the traditional ceremonial dragon dance, which was exciting to watch. They even taught the crowd a few Chinese phrases, which made it interactive and fun. There were also vendors offering food, arts and crafts, and souvenirs for the kids, giving it a great community feel. Thankfully, the rain cleared up and the weather stayed dry, making it easy to relax and enjoy everything the event had to offer.

It's directly across the street from Ponce City Market, but was built many years before PCM. Midtown Place opened in 1999 while PCM opened in 2014. The Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, which was also built many years after Midtown Place, runs adjacent to the backside of the shopping center's storefronts. Unfortunately, the trail does not connect to the shopping center like it does with PCM and other parts of the neighborhood. I've been a regular visitor to this shopping center since 2000. People generally don't like it for a few main reasons: 1. The parking lot is often congested and packed. I once had an impatient driver honk at and talk s*** to me for not leaving my parking spot fast enough (I was trying to get Waze set up before beginning my drive). 2. There are only two entry/exit points to this busy shopping center and they're both on Ponce De Leon Ave, an Atlanta street which is infamous for its traffic and congestion. 3. Cars get booted here all the time. Don't even think about parking here and going somewhere else like PCM or the BeltLine. You will get booted. The parking enforcers here are great at their jobs. They'll swoop in and have a boot on your wheel before you know it. With the way the surrounding neighborhoods have evolved over the years, Midtown Place does seem out of place these days. It's a prototypical suburban big box development plopped right into the middle of an urban area. Currently, the big tenants/anchors are The Home Depot, PetSmart, Staples, Whole Foods, and T.J. Maxx, and there are other big name chains like CVS, Mattress Firm, and Starbucks too. Getting in to and out of this shopping center, and parking, requires patience. I'm a pretty patient person so this shopping center's less-than-ideal setup hasn't bothered me too much, but I do understand people's pain and frustration with it. At least it gives us a Home Depot in the city, even though it's not the easiest to get to -- it's awkwardly tucked all the way towards the back and there's only one way to get to it. I do remember parking at the movie theater at Midtown Promenade (the shopping center next door), many years ago, seeing Home Depot a stone's throw away, and wondering why there wasn't a better and easier way to get to it. Chalk it up to poor planning and design, and perhaps bad luck and timing too, I guess. Thomas Wheatley of Creative Loafing wrote an interesting piece on this place, published August 4, 2016.
