I went to buy my sons baptism outfit a week ago and went into the store today to exchange the outfit because it was too big. I was unhappy with the service and the fact that they charged a $17 (10%) restocking fee while the outfit was bought off the hanger and not special ordered. The original order was over $160 and we wound up purchasing an additional item while we were there. I understand store policy but when dealing directly with the owner, there should be discretion used to make the customer happy. read more

Terrible customer service; greedy, arrogant owner and/or employee(s). My wife purchased over $500 of christening-related merchandise, including a $70+ dollar blanket. My wife did not realize that a family member already made us a blanket. Without ever removing the blanket from the box, I called the store less than 24 hours later to request permission to return the blanket. An obnoxious employee answered the phone and said that they have a no return policy and no exceptions are made. After expressing my disappointment given that we spent over $500 at the store, the employee discounted the $500+ purchase by obnoxiously saying something along the lines of "a lot of people spend a lot of money at the store." I asked to speak to the owner, but was told to send an email. When I sent the email, the individual (who refused, after three emails, to identify him or herself by name or position -- only signing the email as "Little Dickens") demanded a bounty to return the blanket by insisting upon a 20% restocking fee and providing only a store credit for the remaining balance. More troubling is that "Little Dickens" did not address the obnoxious, cavalier attitude of the employee. I am a firm believer that good customer service should be rewarded and bad customer service should be punished. Here, there's no question that customers are not valued and poor customer service is rewarded/condoned. I will never shop at Little Dickens -- go some place else that appreciates your business. read more

Went in there today for a christening dress for my daughter. The two sales women were not very helpful and didn't leave their seat to ask if we needed any help. They had a bit of an attitude. I asked if there was a bathroom that I could change my daughter's diaper and was told to use the floor and to make sure I take the diaper with me. Now, obviously I wouldn't leave a dirty diaper in the store but I found their rudeness disappointing. The store sells BABY christening dresses. You would think they would allow me to use the changing table to change a diaper. I probably would have spent $300+ but left and bought her gown at little shop for babies down the road! Think twice before going here!! read more

I found the staff extremely knowledgeable & helpful. The store is stocked with a huge selection and super clean. I did notice another customer haggling to return a dress, which was clearly worn. Anyone could see that fact from across the room. The nature of the business kind of brings out the cheap people since the garments are for a specific use and worn a few times. Which there more then one sign CLEARLY posted on the return policy! The selection ran from basic to work of art. read more

This store has a wide selection of christening gowns, all in the protective plastic. Which at first seems ghetto, but honestly shopping w/ my baby who is a drooler and spits up a lot I can appreciate them being protected that way. (though the store itself still gives you a ghetto flea market feel). Not the best prices either (they sold a dress for $130 that I found in another store for $90). Despite all these negatives, I did purchase my daughters christening gown here, which is beautiful and I'm very pleased with it. They allowed me to try it on her in the store with the warning that if she spit up on it we bought it. So we were very swift with the try on, and the sales rep was helpful and nice. I was glad we tried it on, because it just fit but the event is in a few weeks, so we went a size up. And all sales are final, so you better be sure its what you want. I wouldn't take this store off your list of places to shop if you are looking for a christening outfit, but don't make it your first stop. read more

DO NOT DO NOT ORDER ANY DRESS FROM THIS STORE!! I ordered my daughters flower girl dress 2 weeks ago and they called me a week later to pick it up and It was the WRONG dress completely !!!! They then ordered the right dress and I realized it should have been in ivory. I proceed to call and ask if they can do and exchange for the ivory color and the very Nasty woman told me no. There was absolutely NOTHING they could do! I had to order a brand new dress! I said well can't you sell the dress in the store? She said no we can't which I a crock of SHIt!! I asked her what the return policy was on the receipt and she told me "Can you REAd it?" I said no mam I'm at work. I don't have it in front of me!! They have HORRIBLE customer service here. Terrible customer service do not give them your business!!!! They have a great selection of boys christening outfits. I'll give them that. Their prices were a little much but I felt it was a good quality and I was willing to give them a chance. However they have terrible customer service. I visited the store this afternoon and the two women behind the counter were rude. They were too busy with their own conversation to even come out from behind the counter and help me pick something, or show me the different selections. Finally after a few minutes of browsing I had picked one outfit I wanted to see out of the bag. I had to bring it to a certain part of the counter so they could open the zipper for me. Which seems strange but I could understand them wanting to keep white garments clean. In any case, I really liked the outfit and wanted to make sure it would fit my son. They asked me when my son's christening was and said "oh yeah then that's the right size" Now I had been out shopping all day and politely asked these women if I could please use their restroom. She rudely said "no". I'm sorry but I'm about to pay over $200 in your store you can let me use the restroom. As a new Mom I don't have the luxury of holding it in like I used to! I decided to take my business elsewhere on principal. I can understand not letting people off the street use your bathroom but there I was about to spend a decent amount of money! Scam artists!! We visited this establishment recently to purchase a baptismal outfit for the child we are baptizing. We bought a plain blanket with no indication whatsoever that it was for a baptism or christening. Shortly after(3 days later) we found a blanket of better quality at another retailer so we attempted to return the original blanket back to Little Dickens. We were surprised to find out that the blanket was a christening blanket and they have a strict no return policy on christening items. I didn't ask for a christening blanket so why did they sell me one?!! It's just a plain blanket!! It's a good thing I'm well known in the community and I'll make sure I spread the word on their deceptive practices. The only good thing that came out of this experience is that we decided to donate the blanket. Don't be fooled by these swindlers. FYI, you can purchase the same exact items from Amazon at a way lower price. Save your money! read more

Horrible customer service. When I attempted to exchange a communion dress, the owner became nasty with me and told me it was past the three day return policy. Whoever heard of such a policy? The dress was in perfect condition. Its not even near communion season yet. I have two kids making communion and they could have made alot of money off me if they were nicer. When I told her I would not shop there again she told me that she would not want a customer like me! I cannot believe the audacity! I have never been treated so horribly. Do not shop here! read more

Fantastic customer service! I honestly hesitated going there due to the reviews i read. But after going to 7 other stores and not finding anything my daughter wanted for her communion, we went into Little Dickens. I have to say, they greeted us right away and were very pleasant. We picked 6 dresses to try on. The sales women were very excited with each dress selection, but also honest with their opinions. I did not get sold by them, i got sold by my daughter. She was so pleased with the dress she literally bounced out of the changing room. I ended up spending $325 on her dress, but her happiness is priceless. I give them a 4 only bc they have a no return policy. read more

What a HORRIBLE experience!! the owner and her daughter are rude and condescending and have zero customer service skills!! Who do they think they are saying you can only try on 6 dresses and then you have to come back another day?? Especially when there was no one else in the store. Not to mention making my daughter put her hair up in a ponytail implying she was dirty and they didn't want her hair touching their precious dresses while I watched other girls in the store with their hair falling all over the dresses. Telling my daughter rudely not to touch anything, and speaking to us, their potential customers who are spending ALOT of money like we are garbage. I have never been treated so disgustingly !! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! This shop should be shut down due to the abhorrent policies they have decided to administer. This shop is cutting the designer tags out of dresses! Spent a few hundred dollars on a communion dress and have zero recourse with respect to the dress. They have a No exchange and no refund policy. If something should happen to the purchase you can not even go back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. Attempted to ask why they would cut the tags out of the dress and was told it is standard practice. However.... I spoke to the Better Business Bureau and was told they can not figure out any reason to cut out the tags.... Anyone purchasing anything from this store needs to know that they could be selling used or irregular merchandise. Also be aware that they have a price match guarantee.... But without the manufacturer how can you price match anything? I have already spoken to the BBB at +1 (212) 533-6200 I suggest anyone who has ever had a bad experience here do the same.
