I ordered the $5 lunch combo. I had to wait a bit for it but the pizza was so good. The staff was friendly. I will go again.

All of the places downtown…read moreWaynesville were chock-a-block full with tourists in town for the leaves changing and other festivals, so my mom and I went looking for the local places, the places that are below the radar for the usual tourist. We found one of those places with Waynesville Pizza Company. Located down a hill off the beaten path, it is quite non-descript from the road. We figured it was perfect for us. Entering, we could smell the good smells of pizza done right, and the general hum of the place told us that it was a happy place. We went for a large pizza, good toppings on it, and it took about twenty minutes to get together. No need for extra appetizers or anything else... a large pizza was more than enough for the two of us, and we took half of it back to our hotel room for the next day (pizza for breakfast is a glorious thing!) If we get back to this area, Waynesville Pizza Company is definitely on our list to return to for a meal.

Our issue was solely with the food. We ordered a "build your own" 14" pizza (sausage and mushroom). The crust was wafer thin and flavorless (we did not order a thin crust pie, it just came out that way). The cheese tasted almost artificial. The sausage was scarce. The sauce was flavorless. To add insult to injury, the cost of this pizza was $24. Maybe it was an off night but the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time we came for dinner. I don't know if they are cutting food costs but whatever the case, I do hope they will get back on track. It will be a while before we go back.

I don't know what was wrong with that guy, but as a writer and a human, I can assure you that no matter what you do, you can never make everyone happy all the time. That's why it's best to just be authentically you. I got a little off-topic there. What I saying was ... the only negative reviews are for long wait times for takeout or if the dining-in crowd thinks the takeout orders have taken priority over their food. It has nothing to do with the quality of the food. I dined-in and sat outside. The wait times for food were right on the money. I didn't feel rushed and it didn't take too long. I could enjoy my meal and the experience. I have been to Frankie's across the street and had two meals there: Chicken Parm and the Spaghetti & Meatballs. The Chicken Parm was much stronger than the Spaghetti & Meatballs. So when comparing the two Chicken Parm dishes, they are equal but polar opposites. Frankie's is a fancier place with all the bells and whistles. It's a great vibe but also a little expensive. The Chicken Parm is thicker and you get a side of pasta but have to pay for the salad. At Bizzarro, the Chicken Parm is a much thinner cut but still a large portion, you can get angel hair pasta (a rare treat), and you don't have to pay for the salad. For bread, you get traditional at Frankie's and garlic knots at Bizzaro's. I'm not a huge fan of garlic but during this meal, I realized I like garlic knots if I eat them upside down. As for vibe/atmosphere, at Bizzaro, I walked through the little service area to get to the outdoor tables. As I ate, there were parked cars right there, someone mowing a lawn in the distance, and the TV was on from the service area. I would usually not like these things, but I loved it here. It completely fit the vibe of feeling at home and just chilling on the deck. Add the friendly staff and you will feel very welcomed. While the Chicken Parms are different yet equal, Bizzaro's definitely wins for value as you get similar portions plus a salad at a much lower price. I'm glad I found Bizzaro's and I have added it as a go-to when in town. I'll still hit Frankie's too, but maybe Bizarro more often. It always depends on the second visit. I didn't try the pizza yet but I'm sure it's good. The only negative here is the awkward and small parking lot but no big deal. Highly recommended!

I was there at an odd time so me and Valé had some excellent conversations. He definitely cares about his customers. For the Chicken Parmesan and pasta, I finished the whole thing. No problem. Tasty sauce. The bread was good and many might love it but I prefer traditional Italian bread. This is subjective. For the wine, I usually don't care about what kind of red wine I'm drinking but that was the best red wine I have ever had. It's called Montepulciano-D'Abruzzo. That's a lot of letters I'm not used to typing. I mean, I'm used to the letters but not in that order. Let's just call it Monte. This was a great meal and the vibe was incredibly warm. You're going to feel very welcomed here. I even noticed people coming up to Valé to hug him, thank him, etc. This is true Italian nature. They are going to feed you well and make you feel like family. Definitely recommended.

They were very tough and hard to eat. The marinara sauce was delicious. I ordered veal parm , neighbor had chicken parm , and hubby had veal Marsala. The veal and chicken parm came with so much mozzarella cheese it covered up the taste if the veal. The pasta with marinara was delicious. My hubby said the veal Marsala was tough. The prices are not cheap but the portions are generous. We might give them another chance.

Note: I had wrong location before. My bad…read more This is the fourth Italian restaurant I have tried in the area: two in Waynesville and two in Maggie Valley. I still haven't tried the one in Sylva (heard good things), and I think I'll pass on the one in Bryson City. As for this joint, the outdoor dining area is supreme. Well, maybe it was just supreme on that day thanks to the weather. I was on my way to poker (it went well again thanks to me designing and applying TNP a year ago), and I wanted to get some good calories under my belt since tourney poker players don't eat much for 7-10 days when WSOPC is in town. I definitely got the calories! The Chicken Parm and pasta portion here is HUGE! The salad is also the best salad of the four Italian restaurants I have tried in the area. For bread, the garlic knots were very high quality, and if you like garlic knots, you will love it. But in the bread category for me, Frankie's wins with ease, simply because it's a large portion of traditional Italian bread with butter. I love butter. In fact, it's one of my favorite things in life. Sometimes when I'm driving and I glance at my rearview mirror, it looks like a stick of butter, especially during sunrise. For Chicken Parm, I have Frankie's and Bizzaro's tied for the lead over Vale and Bocelli's. But all four are good! For pasta, Bocelli's is in last. For some reason, that sauce works well with the Chicken Parm but not with the linguine. I give Bizarro's the nod for best pasta of the four. For service, all four are amazing. For value, Bizarro's. For atmosphere, Frankie's. For outdoor dining, Bocelli's. For quality red wine, Vale by a mile. Best red wine I have ever tasted! For storytelling, Vale! He will feel like a good friend within a 15 minutes. So ... for Bocelli's, solid Chicken Parm, best salad, great garlic knots, didn't love the pasta, and excellent service and outdoor dining. Definitely recommended! I need to try the pizza at all these places next round.

Really good nostalgic pizza - reminds me of school or roller skating rink pizza (slightly elevated…read moreof course), which is a good thing in my book. 16" pizza, dozen garlic knots that came with a really good marinara sauce and a buffalo chicken salad came to $65. Crazy that for just $15 more you can get a sit down, better quality experience than fast food for my family of 5.
