We stopped in after reading reviews and had a day planned at Henry Horton State Park. I ordered the waffle with bacon and hash browns. My mom ordered a western omelet with hash browns and toast. My waffle was cold and looked like it was cooked on a waffle maker that needed to be cleaned. There were black specks everywhere. These same specks were also on my bacon. The waffle was very soft and was cut in four with pieces that had fallen off when taken off the waffle maker. Unfortunately the hashbrowns were not edible. Perhaps if I had ketchup but I couldn't get past the strange taste. My mom's omelet was very cheesy-that's good but the meat was not cut in small pieces before being added to the omelet. She had the same potatoes and yeah still not good. Honestly we threw most of our meal away. Whomp whomp cuz we normally love small family businesses.

It's an easy 30-minute drive off I-65-super convenient if you're traveling or just looking for a fun destination without going too far. The whole place is pure Dolly--big murals, her signature silhouette, musical décor, a vintage truck out back, and that cheerful "Cup of Ambition" energy everywhere. Staff were friendly and welcoming from the start. It was pleasantly busy when we arrived in the late afternoon but never felt overcrowded. We explored a bit before eating. The upstairs bar has a nice, chill vibe with comfy seating and a great overlook of the main floor--perfect for people-watching or catching live music later. We almost ordered drinks, but decided to save it for another visit. Downstairs, the buffet is set up as a classic "Meat and Three" with a big drink included. My sweet tea came with that perfect crunchy ice. The food was solid comfort fare--hearty enough that one trip through did the job. There's a separate barbecue area we didn't try this time, but it's on the list for next visit. After dinner, Mom got an ice cream cone (the line moved quickly even on a hot day), and we played a little cornhole out back and snapped some photos. The outdoor space is cute and adds to the experience. This isn't fine dining, and it's definitely leaning into the tourist-attraction side of things, but the pricing felt fair for what you get. The line for the women's room was out the door. Nothing unusual. Except the line extended into the bathroom and just kept on going. Dolly's is huge yet there were only 6 stalls. Obviously designed by a man. It was so hot that there was a portable fan trying its best to provide a little comfort to those waiting and waiting. The store had a couple of fast food restaurants, a wide selection of snacks and, of course, lots of Dolly Parton souvenirs. People had arm loads of the stuff. Splash Dolly's name on anything, especially in Tennessee, and it will sell. The strange thing was that nothing had prices marked. (Except alcohol, I'm assuming that must be a law). I picked up a couple of candy bars not knowing if they were two dollars or ten. One neat feature was the lounge. It was obviously meant for the truckers as the showers and laundry entrance was in there. It did work out well as my husband waited there while I stood in line for the restroom. There is a Buc-ees 42 miles south and a Love's 25 miles north on I-65. I'd plan my stop at one of these instead. Dolly, Dolly; Dolly...it seems everything you touch turns to gold. Your travel stop is an exception to the rule. We won't be back.
