Typically I come to browse and grab any good deals I find, but with minimal time, I let her know which authors I was interested in and she ultimately checked her car after scanning the shelves to get me this series that she was planning on reading herself! They retail 10-12$, but I got them for $8.50 each. Not the world's biggest deal, but cheaper than retail nonetheless. It is well organized, full of Thousands of books for $1 dollar (Not all books are one dollar, but more than half!). They also have DVDs, and kids books.There is a big shelf as soon as you walk in filled with the books that most kids have to read for their English classes, and most for $1. And then you are finished reading your books, you can donate them back to this facility and it goes to further the efforts of the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library.....win-win!! An added benefit for those who like to compost, Compost NOW accepts frozen compostable food scraps here from 12:30pm-2pm every Wednesday. Recycle some books, and recycle food waste.

When we visited, it was crowded, but there was an event going on outside. Additionally, groups were there to meet and have coffee and chat. They have a coffee bar that appears to be well appointed. The book selection is wonderful. So many James Baldwin titles, including some you don't see regularly. They do online orders, so if you are looking for Baldwin books or books on Black history/social justice, consider buying from this Black owned business instead of Amazon. They also have a beautiful air bnb for rent. As mentioned in other reviews, this is in the Marigny/Bywater neighborhood and can be made part of a full day of activities, including JamNola and Allways Lounge and great restaurants.

I happened upon Tubby and Coos completely by accident as I had set out to visit one of the neighboring shops and they caught my attention by their PSA sign out front. I walked in the store, and the Sci Fi nerd in me just jumped out as the first thing I saw was Doctor Who. There are a great variety of other books as well, many that appeal to the YA audience as well as the alleged adults of the crowd. I actually ended up picking up a book on the history of the Carnival Krewes of New Orleans, so there really is a bit of something for everyone. The store is small, but there are two stories of goodies contained therein so make sure you take your time to enjoy it all.

Not entirely sure about its hours - was open during the week when I stopped by but not on Sunday.
