Who knew there were a couple of amazing dog parks in New York City? Little Bay Dog Run is one of the few decent dog parks available. However, if you're thinking about coming here it's best to use a car. There's a bus line, I believe, that drops you off nearby from the Main St 7 station, but the subway doesn't reach this part of Queens. Perk: Free parking. You don't have to pay for parking or circle around a block or two a few times to find parking. There is an area near the park itself where cars can park without any worries. There is a path directly leading to the dog park. Once you reached the fenced area there are 2 gates in order to prevent dogs from fleeing the park once inside. The park is divided in two parts, but this past Sunday the majority of dogs & owners were concentrated in the first area. All of the dogs were playing around & enjoying themselves, especially with the 70 degree weather we had this past Sunday. There are a couple of benches available for owners to sit back & relax while their dogs run around. If your dog does his business there is a shovel & trash bins located nearby to dispose of any waste. I had a really good time watching my boyfriend's dog run around and enjoy himself. If you want to have your dog interact with others & meet some friendly pet owners, as well, then this is definitely the place for you and your doggie.

I love this dog park: I've been to several in Queens and this is by far my favorite one. I drive past other dog parks to come here. Pros: 1) Gravel base - while it is coming up a bit and needs to be better maintained, I much prefer this over dirt (mud - for days after it rains) or wood chips (can cause severe injuries to paws). 2) Double gates - for extra safety 3) A separate area for smaller dogs 4) Water fountains (for humans and dogs!) and a hose to cool dogs down. 5) Great parking. 6) Lots of seating 7) Busy year round. Even when it's freezing out. 8) Beautiful views of the Throgs Neck Bridge. Cons: 1) It's June 16th and the water is still not on. Called 311 twice so far and they said they'd take care of it - we'll see. Plan ahead and bring water just in case. 2) Not sure where the bathrooms are in this park, but they don't seem to be anywhere near the dog run. 3) As other have said, no shade. I know there was some talk of canopies being installed, but nothing yet. It gets very hot in the summer. 4) The area outside of the dog park is full of unleashed dogs. Could be good or bad depending on how you look at it, but if you have an unfriendly dog, you need to be extra careful. Can be an annoyance to people who just want to enjoy the park. Overall, a fantastic park. Just needs regular maintenance from the city.

Our favorite dog run. Clean and spacious. Most dog owners who go here are friendly.

    Beautiful afternoon.. :)

Came by here yesterday afternoon for a short walk with my friend. It was my first time being on this side of the water; usually on the Fort Totten side, fishing in the summer time. The water here kinda stinks..it was especially strong yesterday. It was low tide when we went and I managed to snap a nice picture of the bridge. The doggy play area is fenced in, decent size. There's a separate space for smaller dogs and larger dogs, which is nice.

Finally, a dog park I love in Queens! My beagle stood in the smaller section but it is big enough for him to run around and have fun. The view is amazing it was nice and clean. The people were very friendly and keeping a eye on there fur baby. I will be going a lot more often now :)

Honestly, unless they live here, I don't know of any people going to College Point unless it is to the big box stores on 20th Ave. I get it, you either need to bus it or drive here since there is no train/subway access. The streets are narrow and the buses are wide making it even more intimidating to venture north in Queens, which is a shame because this area is lovely with its waterfront park. The view has "the city" off into the distance, Rikers island and LaGuardia airport with its low flying planes a bit closer and you may be able to steal a glimpse of the Whitestone bridge, but nearby Powell Cove's park may be better spot for that. The park was under construction in some parts so sections were closed off, but there are nice grassy areas. Benches line the waterfront and walkways that trace it making for a nice spot to chat with a friend providing they aren't suffering from springtime allergies that is - lots of pent up pollen in them trees! A couple of pro-tips: parking is street nearby and probably not the best smelling waterfront at low tide.

There is a paved path so you can run, walk or bike ride without the fear of dealing with traffic. When traveling West to East, there's a decline and we always feel the incline when traveling back from a 3-4 mile run. This is a nice start to a long run because it leads eastward to the northbound trail that runs along the I-95, the trails that lead to City Island, Pelham Bay Park and Orchard Beach and the Northbound trail that heads along Shore Road to New Rochelle. There are a number of paths to take that will give you elevation, varying terrain and interesting views. Making the transition from the parkway to the biking/running trails can be a bit dangerous when traversing the roads. Drivers tend to speed down and don't really yield to pedestrians; they are pretty aggressive in this area. Five, structurally intact, well placed wooden benches allow for panoramic views or just a spot to plop down for a moment. The secondary and smaller fenced in section provides small dog owners the option if the full size portion had large breeds playing roughly. The street light on the landing of the stairwell of the bridge allows significant illumination inside the park. The double gates is exactly what all dog runs should incorporate into their infrastructure. Allowing the dog owner to leash or unleash in this quite ample staging area. Eight foot high fences insulates any dog from harm that may occur from the outskirts and keep potential riff raff on the outside. The golden doodle bit my dogs ear and the owner did not restrain him until later on when he saw the bleeding and that I was trying to leash up my pup. When I had my back turned, he left the park swiftly with his dog. Will not return to this park and I would avoid that dog if you see him. I did my research and decided on Forest Park Barking Lot, and was also told that they had just reopened from renovations. It was also nice of the President to email me back when I sent an inquiry about if the lot was opened again. We've come with our pup twice, and he always takes a well deserved nap (and bath) both times. There's a large and small dog area, which is great if small dog owners want to make sure their dogs don't get trampled by the large ones! The park is great, there is nothing negative about the park itself. I haven't seen any dog poo just chilling in the park. It seems well managed. Some of the owners are very friendly as well. I think the watering hole is closed for the winter coming, so bring your own water! The only thing is that the two times we've been there, the same unneutered dogs seem to instigate humping that turns into fights. It's unfortunate, but some owners aren't very vigilant in watching their dogs and let the fights break out. We've seen two dog fights in which the owner of the ones being humped excessively, scream as they try to take their dog back. Most dogs tend to leave the park post fights. It ruins the whole park vibe when this happens, and isn't fair to others when we all just want our pups to have a good time.
