This is a lovely Victorian church with a friendly congregation, situated at the top of the hill in…read moreTettenhall Wood. The church was built in 1865-6 to designs by the local Birmingham firm of Bateman and Corser, to cater for the expanding suburbs to the south west of Tettenhall village (then called Tettenhall Regis). The church consists of a very wide nave with aisles (which have unusual transverse gables) and a polygonal apse, all in the Decorated Gothic style. The exterior is rock-faced with ashlar detailing, and the windows have geometrical detailing. The church has a brand new parish room (and office) at the rear, which hosts groups during the week and parish events. Services are 08:00 and 11:00 on Sundays and 09:30 on Thursday mornings. Services are in the 'broad' style, ie it has a choir, vestments, a mix of modern and traditional music and modern language. Tea and coffee are served after the Sunday 11:00 service (which also has a crèche and Sunday school) and after the Thursday 09:30 service.

An interesting church building in Tettenhall Wood…read more Christ Church is clearly visible from the Church Road, and although there's a lack of parking nearby it's quite an easy place to get to. The entrance to the church is at the opposite end of the building to Church Road, if that makes sense! The building itself is fairly traditional, with perhaps enough space to seat 300 people. Never having been to a service here I can't comment on what is on offer every Sunday morning but from what I know, I am sure it is a warm, friendly place that would provide a genuine welcome for any visitors.

What can I say,but what a truly fantastic church! I belong to the COFE Originally and although I do…read morelove ''Traditional'' church, I really love it here at SCBC and come here now instead.SCBC is a very warm & welcoming friendly church,it has a congregation of around 500/600 people,is very lively with Contempory modern music played by the churches talented worship band, although we do also through in the odd traditional old hymn. The teaching here is also fantastic, its put across in an easy to understand manner and the services are also very visual as scbc uses DVD presentations a lot in the services. The words of the songs are on a large screen at the front of the church. SCBC is not a Sunday only church, there are plenty of activities and events going on during the week.If you Google Sutton Coldfield Baptist church it will come up with the church website that will tell you more about the church. We also run Christian course such as Alpha,Alpha Plus, & Christianity Explored...we regulary do Welcome Lunches after the morning service for people who are newcomers to the church. The services are 10.30 & 6.30.More people tend to come on the morning service but you do get quite a few on the evening service as well. Everybody is so friendly at this church & our pastor Donald who used to be the Youth Pastor here until the year 2000 is a really friendly & nice guy,as are all the staff here at scbc...so why not give this fantastic church a try..it doesn't matter what denomination you're from...all are welcome at this church....you'll be made to feel really welcome and at home the minute you come through the doors.I highly recommend scbc so do come along...its the best church out of all the Sutton Coldfield churches in my view....followed by Sutton Coldfield URC in Gracechurch centre and Duke Street Chapel in Duke Street & then Holy Trinity & St Peters if you like a ''Traditional Cofe church''...but do come and try SCBC i'm sure you'll love it here as much as I do.I love everything about it...the wonderful praise and worship, the teaching, the atmosphere, the warmth & friendliness...everything.
