I have practiced other meditations in the past - and the good techniques really help with calming the mind. But TM is not only about that. It prepares your system for the 23 hours that you are performing! And the conduit of the training - your TM teacher - is very important. I am honored to be trained by John who has spent 30 years with the Maharishi himself. What started as a gentle training on the technique with John soon evolved into a step by step guidance into the whys of the technique - which was super important for a scientific mind like mine. here is the biggest testimony: I am a public speaker who loves to give business seminars but has a visceral physical reaction on the dais. I had a seminar right after my second day of training. And for the first time in 15 years of public speaking, I had no nerves whatsoever! I could not believe it :)
