When I say it's huge, I mean it, I lived in Kansas City and Austin TX, I know big stores - hint Bucee's first gas station was 14 miles from my house. First of all, the location is easy to get in and out, ample parking and the main road right there. It's in a very safe section of town while inside and outside are extremely clean. Any one will pick up on that immediately walking in, which should put any customer at ease. The produce section ROCKS. I mean it. For instance, I've been hunting for watermelon radish for a long time at 3 other chains and nothing. Harris Teeter had, watermelon radish, dragon fruit, buddha fingers, Rambutan, fresh exotic (not dried) mushrooms and so on. Moreover, I inspected some raspberries and a few other things - no mold! Best produce besides a farmers market! Next, it looks as if they're experimenting taking a page out of midwestern stores' playbook. They have a bar here! Now being a single gentleman I often like meeting women at a grocery store - although I always find the attractive women have some sort of rock on their finger. But I'm seriously considering coming back when it's open, if it's a true bar and not just a wine, beer sampling area. Not that I don't love a good wine tasting but my imagination tells me I would enjoy the upper crust time of "fu-fu, bougie" women that I envision would be partaking here. I need to do more research but I love this idea for the greater Summerville area. While I didn't get any of their baked, seafoods, meats, salads, etc they have by far the best selection, excluding specialty butchers and fish mongers. Their fresh bread laced with rosemary and olive oil danced on the air while chocolate perfumed a few isles. I scanned over everything and cursed my diet b/c I could have really destroyed their food here. As for prices, it's probably just a bit higher than their competitors but I don't mind paying a little higher for a more robust selection. I mean, I saw things like phyllo cups, the newest fall items already being stocked in July, a wider selection of health foods and the list goes on and on. Finally the people here are extraordinary and go the extra mile. I asked where something was and the clerk took me too it. They didn't say "isle 4 by the bread" but nope they wanted to make sure I got what I needed. Moreover I don't have a card, No Problem! They gladly slid the store card in the reader to give me a discount! Come on... who else does that!? As far as grocery stores - this is where you want to go. The only thing lacking the variety of instore made food options and a place to dine. Granted, I came from Austin TX where we had HEB, literally 5 restaurants in the grocery store. Same for Hy-Vee in Overland Park KS. Those Midwest grocery stores - they have full dining experiences. What's next a movie theatre!? I had several prescriptions with multiple refills on them prior to my doctor dying. Today I have no…read moremedicine and I tried to get refills from Harris teeter but was denied. The pharmacist said this is due to my doctor dying more than 60 days ago. I saw my doctor less than 60 days ago. Then the pharmacist that worked on July 25th at around 12:00 and the afternoon threatened to hang up the phone on me because I raised my voice because I didn't have any medicine and because they denied me any medication. Harris teeter is going to unalive people due to this. You CANNOT DENY MEDICATION THAT WAS ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM!!!!

The place had an upscale vibe to it with better than your grocery store type of food offerings and products. World Market kind of, sort of, not really but sort of fills a little of that void. It also has a certain Bed Bath and Beyond feel, geez anyone else these once great pillars of our shopping experience are gone? Anyways, World Market has a lot inventory and items for the home chef, as well as some Hoby Lobby type enthusiast. This particular store is in a safe part of town with plenty of parking and is very clean. Walking in, I mentioned all the other examples that seem to have an influence on this retailer. So, if any of them fit your liking, well this is the place for you! The reason I was in the store is to get some rare pasta shapes. Quick aside, I love different pasta shapes b/c they literally taste different b/c how they hit the pallet. Don't believe me? As a former chef, tell me macaroni and spaghetti taste the same, they don't! Anyways I was purchasing some principesse pasta (think fettuccini with the lasagna frills on the side, splendid). It's cut with a bronze dye which means it gives a rough texture, perfect for holding sauces and gripping the tongue rather than sliding off. I also picked up some German egg noodles (mini-lasagna) which look like pappardelle with ruffles. Besides online, this is the only local store that carries the shapes. Ok pasta course is over. They have a wide selection of interesting chips, wines, coffees, Asian drinks and ramen noodles, specialty candies and more things that I don't have time to discuss. In other words, this place offers products that you've probably never consider, which really will enhance your life. If you're there, steer clear of the Lindl gourmet truffles unless you have a deal with the belt b/c they're so darn good. I highly advise taking a moment to scan their spices and oils section as well. My only draw back is I wish they had a refrigerated section. While there, they have an interesting kitchen utensils section as well as creative dinnerware, not like those huge cheap places which have no character but only corporate uniformity. I rather liked a lot of their dishes and could envision myself with my pinky up eating crumpets and sipping noon tea! Now they have some furniture and stuff but to be perfectly honest I had no interest in their offerings so I can't speak to quality, price or selection, but it's there if you want to take a looksie. Finally, they are holiday influences so lets say it's Christmas time, they'll have a good amount of space dedicated to things like reefs, lights, ornaments, you name it. I think it's refreshing to have options out there to offset the mainstream. As far as prices, they're a little higher with good reason, it's not the normally created stuff. But at least the option is out there. To wrap up, the employees are nice and ring you up quickly while joyfully answering questions. They have an inventory of items unlike many other places making it a unique shopping experience. Furthermore, it's clean and safe which provides for a laid-back shopping experience. But the attribute I like best is that while it's not silent, there's the usual hubbub, it's quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with a friend or a group. So, after my mother convinced me to stop by Lowes I was pleasantly surprised with a chain that "gets it" here in town. Walking in I found the place to be extremely clean with some of the nicest employees I've come across since being back in town. Moreover, they're rather smart; strategically placing fresh baked focaccia bread close to the entrance, enticing one's stomach to influence the power of the purse. Next, I challenge anyone to resist their smoked foods as the air is heavy with the sweet perfume. Please note that Lowes carries a LOT of items customers will NOT find at other stores. From the towns best selection of cheeses, rack of lamb, watermelon radish and on the list continues, I encourage all those reading this to shop this store for those harder to find items. As for instore made items, I've tried a few and would like to report my limited findings. First, I bought a loaf of olive focaccia bread a noted weakness of mine. I found it be pillow-y moistness, bouncing back to the touch with a good fragrance however the amount of rosemary in it will repel even the most persistent of demons (odd refence). I bought another loaf of parmesan and I had the same issue, just way to rosemary which I happen to enjoy. I wish they had an alternative without the herb but other than that it's awesome. Another success in the bakery was the Bavarian donuts which I highly advise not buying as they're downright addictive. Soft, moist and a perfect chocolate to cream ratio these things are illegal in 5 surrounding counties! As for protein, I broke down and got the smoked chicken wings and macaroni salad for lunch. Again, this would be a resounding success if it weren't for one overwhelming ingredient; in this case salt. I'm of the belief they marinated these wings in the dead sea as it tasted as if the cap to the salt shaker fell off when seasoning these wings. Otherwise, these wings hit on all notes as they were moist and had the perfect amount of smoke. As for the mac salad, everyone has their version of what are perfect ingredients so I'll just add this, they perfectly cooked the pasta. That is to say the noodles weren't soggy or cooked to death; rather al dente which is perfect for the summertime favorite. As for addins I think they're ok but that's very subjective. Again, a certified hit. I did grab the sushi one day but I'm not a fan of grocery store sushi for the simple fact that the rice needs to be warm and the fish cold as it creates a contrast in the mouth. That said I got the fried shrimp sushi and it was just like any other store, not great. Nothing taken away as I realize most people are happy with this. My point is if I'm craving sushi a grocery store isn't the first thing that comes to mind as a true restaurant has better quality fish and a more diverse menu. To summarize Lowes is a great place to obtain those harder to find ingredients with the best in store created foods among all the competitors out there. The people here are very nice and willing to help however please note you'll need to obtain a card to get the discounts, the one down side of Lowes, is they're a little more expensive. However, "it's a small price to pay" for leveling up on the quality meter. This is my favorite grocery store in town and it's not even close.

Other people would have given me a look. Went back and paid and I even got some smiles. I got wise with her when paying with a Franklin and told her it was freshly made when she was checking for counterfeit, she told me to make some more and bring her a few, I should have known not to crack one like that to a smart lady. I had the rib lunch, and before I go any further, I should disclose that I'm a certified BBQ judge with the South Carolina Barbeque Association. That probably makes me a little more particular about ribs than the average customer. These were excellent. The ribs had a delicious flavor and aroma and weren't greasy at all. In fact, they had exactly the sort of appetizing sheen you want to see on a properly prepared rib. If I were judging them critically, I could point to only two things, and neither would keep me from ordering them again. They were a tiny bit softer than my personal preference. As a BBQ judge, my palate has developed toward a rib with a nice, light bite--the meat should release cleanly when bitten but still have some structure. Plenty of people prefer a softer, more fall-apart rib, so this is very much a matter of preference rather than a criticism. I also would have preferred them served a little hotter. Again, I wouldn't mark the ribs down for that. There are plenty of factors that can affect serving temperature, and it isn't something we judge when evaluating the quality of a rib. I don't specifically remember which sides I ordered, which probably says something about how much attention I was paying to the ribs, but I do remember that the sides were excellent as well. Food -- 10/10 Perhaps the strongest endorsement I can give is this: I rarely order ribs in restaurants. Too few places really know how to do them well, and I'll readily admit that judging BBQ has spoiled me. I'd come back here specifically to order these ribs again. That's a 5-star meal.

The meat was tender and the roll was fresh. I had my Reuben and it was delicious!! I'm always willing to try a Reuben wherever I go. I've had theirs before and it didn't disappoint today. A lot of places don't grill the sandwich and that is sacrilegious in my book. It was melty and toasted with the right amount of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut & 1000 island dressing. Their fries are also really good, even my daughter commented on how good they were. They're crispy yet soft inside & seasoned just right. Kiera was the bartender and the server and she was great!! She was on top of everything. She made a great Moscow mule & we liked how she checked on us just the right amount of times. My daughter is a server and she said she really liked how she knew when to come check to see if we needed anything but not so much that it was annoying. We had a nice chat with her and really enjoyed her attitude. She's an asset to the pub. I enjoy coming to the pub I just don't get over to that part of Summerville very often, I live on the 61 side of Summerville. But when I want a great Reuben again I'll be making the trip across town.
