We are always loaded up at our house and rarely run out of booze however everything we did have was hard liquor and not enough of the staples like beer and wine which we needed. I find the prices at this liquor store a bit high however it was all about convenience this time. Purchased some beer and a few bottles of wine. Quick and easy. They have a fair amount of variety in this store and something for everyone. I could not find the beer that was required and noticed a guy/employee loading up the shelves in the cooler. I asked him for it and he advised me that they did have it in the back to put out on shelves but he wasn't going to be getting at it for a least a couple more hours. He was too busy putting out other beer. He was kind enough to suggest I can come back later, but in all honesty who goes to a liquor store to have to come back again in a couple hours? No one ever! I wish he could have just gone back to the back and grabbed a couple cases for me but he didn't make the suggestion, so instead I found something else that would have to work and only bought one case. Sorry, if I can't get the brand of beer I require and you do have it in store and just not on shelves, well I am going to buy the bear minimum of something else. You snooze, you lose. Grabbed a few bottles of wine and off to the front to pay. The cashier was very nice and friendly so that made up for the other guy in the cooler who didn't get me the beer I required. Paid by debit and they also take air miles which is a bonus.Lots of parking in front and for a Saturday night, it wasnt overly busy in the store.

Did you pull a fast one on me Solly's staff? I don't think you did. But if you did, good on ya! You're some convincing gents! Solly's is in an area that could probably attract some, well, 'questionable' clientele. But since they're downtown and the population density is high, there's plenty of not questionable people who want to get their drunk on too - I mean, buy a bottle of nice wine or spirit. Solly's isn't high end, it isn't hipster and they don't have all the things that nobody has heard of before. What they do is a great job of stocking the store with everything you have heard of. Seriously. A part from the uber high end or insanely craft things, they've got it all. Ever been to a liquor store and been like "what do you mean you don't have any bourbon?" Not Solly's. You're probably not going to find a unique one-off bourbon here, but you'll definitely have a wide selection of all your favourite bourbons you've already heard of. Get my drift? Unfortunately as I was getting my booze hipster on, looking for a specific, local limited edition spring release from Eau Claire Distillery, they didn't have what I was looking for, but I still bot a really great browse of the the selection that they do have. Well thought out, Solly's. Well played!

It looks a bit uninviting from the outside as it's on a lower level of the building, and it's slightly hidden. To get there from the sidewalk you need to walk down some steps. The pluses: it's clean and well-lit, they stock a decent range of wine, I've been able to go there on days that I thought they would be closed like public holidays, they have a small selection of decent craft beer, and the usual spirits. I also always seem to be served by the same guy so either he lives there or he pulls all the shifts at work that I do. The minuses: It's only a small place, so the range isn't the same as other bottle shops in the area, and they don't carry enough stouts for my liking! I also haven't tried asking for recommendations very often but they don't seem to have the same expertise you might get in other bottle shops.

Located in a small neighborhood strip mall is a small neighbourhood liquor store. I stop in here…read moreevery once in a while... They have a good selection of beer and cider, way more selection than a shop of this size usually has. They also have a good hard liquor selection and an okay wine selection. It tends to be a little more overpriced than the bigger stores but when the store is only a block away, sometimes the convenience makes up for it. The staff has always been in good spirits... pun intended... and they're willing to make recommendations when you need them. They will occasionally have a promotion on. One time I had to spend $X (cant remember the exact number) amount of dollars and I got a $10 gift card in return. Not too shabby. I will continue to pop in here to pick up beer for after one of my hockey games, or a couple bottles of wine when heading out to a dinner party. If you are in the neighborhood, you should check them out!

I thought they were just a one-off, but a quick Google search shows there are actually 3 other locations in Calgary, so they probably have a little more buying power and resources behind them compared to some other independent liquor stores. Nonetheless, their selection/inventory is still limited given the small store size. As one of the other reviewers mentioned they have a decent beer and cider selection, not so much in the craft beer department but they do a decent job keeping up with seasonal beer stocks. Hard liquor selection is good as well, just not much in the premium department. Wine selection is small but adequate. Staff here have always been nice anytime I've popped in, they never give me much grief and usually make some effort to be friendly or conversational. I think this is necessary for a smaller store as you tend to remember the experience more. Prices are on the higher side, but there are some deals that are usually located near the front. Drop by if it's convenient, driving to a bigger chain store to save $1-2 really isn't worth it if you're nearby, these guys will likely treat you better too. Other than that it's not a store to really go out of your for, as a liquor store it's just adequate.

I politely answered that I did however I was told that meant I could not come into the store. Unfortunately that is a red line for me. I am fine if you want to check my backpack on the way in and out (if you are nice about it). I am also okay if you want to follow me around the store. Please reconsider your policies. I have tried finding good beer at this location, but generally cannot. The one time I tried getting them to order in something for me, the clerk failed and brought in the wrong type. Unsurprising since he seems to know nothing about beer. The attendants seem beyond bored and annoyed with customer interaction and sit glaring from behind their counter as though they suspect people of shoplifting. They respond to questions or greetings with monosyllabic grunts (I'm never quite sure they understand me at all). The store is very dirty looking and I have never seen anyone clean anything, especially the cool room door, which looks the the entrance to a homeless shelter. The parking lot is perpetually crammed with cars and people hustling for pizza and is generally loaded with trash. I always feel cheated coming to this location, when I know I could have spent an extra minute going to COOP Liquor down the street and had a good experience. After a couple of years of trying to support Bedford Liquor I decided I'd had enough and quit going here.

Bedford liquor is a definite A-OK local liquor store for the Beddington hood. If you're close and looking for something popular, you'll probably find it here. There's not an exceptional selection, but they carry the basics and they have them at a good price. Not the lowest price in town, but their hours are great and if you're close, already had a few and are looking for a quick beer run they don't gouge you. The people working are friendly with a bit of shyness. I only come here occasionally, as my mom lives within a block away, so they're still straight up business to me. My mom, however says that once you go there a little bit they really open up and get to know you. Personally, I think this is a great way to run a business. My mom, however, has started to feel self conscious about it, saying things like "You go get the wine, I can't go there anymore. The liquor store people know my name!" She's even gone so far as to go other liquor stores instead so the owners of Beford Liquor wouldn't see her back again buying more beer. BUT, after going to Crowfoot Liquor and getting charged $29 for a 12 of Kokanee, she went "whaaaaat?!" took her business to Co-Op Liquor where they were asking $27 for a 12. Next thing she knows, she's left Co-Op and is having a conversation with the lady at Bedford Liquor, telling her that they have a great price and she loves their store - Still $27, but at Bedford Liquor you get a 15 pack for the price of 12 at Co-Op. That's 3 free beers, my friends. See? This store is A-OK! Alright, stop! Wine time.
