My mom and I went to Shelley for our very first airbrush tan experience. From the very first time I started communicating with Shelley, she was extremely nice, very knowledgeable and made me feel very welcome to the experience. She even suggested we complete a trial run before our main run since we would be tanning for my wedding. When we actually went for our trial runs, Shelley's establishment is very clean and super cute! We loved it! Shelley took the time to examine our skin, the tone and undertones. She explained how long we should leave the tan before rinsing, depending how dark we want it to be, and reassured us she would walk us through the entire process. She was able to come up with the perfect airbrush color match to use for each of our skin tones. While airbrush tanning, she most definitely walks you through the entire process from beginning to end. She is an artist at what she does and takes the time to focus on every detail and area to ensure you get the most even tan possible for your experience. She even walks you through how to dress once done so you don't streak or get tanner on you. Once complete, she gives you a paper with specific instructions on what to do once ready to rinse the bronzer. She reminds you of things to remember and how to take care of your tan. Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE this beautiful human! Shelley makes you feel so comfortable and her authenticity and care are so apparent that she immediately feels like a lifelong friend. That's just the cherry on top, though; I originally spent hours upon hours poring over reviews and client photos of every spray tan artist in the Bay Area, searching for the most talented one. Liquid Sunshine was the obvious pick, but almost seemed too good to be true. She made everyone look like a flawless goddess, but I figured I'm a tougher case and thus may not get great results; every spray tan I've had elsewhere ended up with streaks, splotches, or weird color. Still, I decided to give spray tans one more shot, and wow, am I glad I did... Shelley has this all down to a science. I'm a nit-picky perfectionist, but Shelley somehow tans even the tricky areas (hands, wrists, ankles, knees, elbows) with ease and flawlessness. She mixes up the perfect color for you, and for whatever reason, I cannot even come close to getting this dark with any of the home self-tanners. I feel like a bronze goddess thanks to Marie, the owner at Liquid Sunshine! I am a HUGE fan of airbrush tanning. It's the best and now the only way I'll go for a completely even and natural looking tan - I won't go back to tanning beds or MagicTan ever again. The set up Marie has is very comfortable, and she is super friendly and makes you forget that you're in the buff in front of a stranger. The whole process is really easy and takes up to 15 minutes. She's very thorough, covering every inch of your body, and takes her time to ensure a beautiful looking tan. The little place has a cute beach theme going on, where there are three changing rooms with overhead fans and heaters, separate from the treatment room, so you don't have to rush out of there before you're dry. So far, I'm extremely happy with the deep tan I've developed in just 48 hours. No blotches, streaks or unnatural coloration. With proper care, the tan should last up to 10 days! Keys to a perfect tan: make sure you exfoliate really well before going in, wear loose dark clothing and flip flops, and avoid contact with water for 8-12 hours. Right now, first time clients get a buy one get one free tan for $45, which is a great deal. There's several packages you can choose from if you think you'll be a regular - I'll most likely be purchasing one, since swimsuit season is starting soon! I am not new to this fake & bake. While I like being sun kissed and not sunkist...I will take healthy skin over charred skin any day. With that being said...Liquid Sunshine is FANTASTIC. A local woman owned business, this nautical inspired joint makes you want to keep coming back and back. Marie, the owner, goes back waaay back. She used to work at the Four Seasons, and is sought out by man sun worshipers. She is awesome and if you aren't satisfied with your color, she will reapply. She wants you happy and wants you coming back!. I opted for dark. Since I am a PRO...I figured I would truly give it a go. Full Monty made and appearance, and the only remnant of my previous color was the sticker I applied on my wrist. Hot, if I don't say so myself. Here are some of my spray tan facts...interpret and do with them as you wish. FACT: You will need to get NAKED. However, keep in mind your level of nakedness is totally up to you. Marie is extremely accommodating, and you won't feel awkward going butt naked! FACT: You should wear loose clothing. No bra, a strappy loose dress is ideal. FACT: The mixture used at Liquid Sunshine is organic and remarkably stench free. If you leave it on longer than the suggested 8-10 hours, it will get funkdafied! As compared to other joints I have smelled, this liquid is not as potent. FACT. The spray tan is liquid on your skin, and although it will dry, It may rub off on clothes. They recommend not showering for at least 8-10 hours after treatment. If you get treated later in the day, then that time frame cuts into your sleep time. It's best to sleep with the spray on, so the color can truly saturate into your skin. Again, it will wash off and if worse comes to worse, sleep on towels. FACT: The treatment will wash off considerably in the shower. It's almost like a scene out of Psycho. Don't freak out, your "glow" will stay on. FACT: The tan will last 3-7 days. Don't scrub and pat dry! FACT: Darker is better. Like I mentioned, a considerable amount will wash off. FACT: Use the fans so you don't streak. Don't put on your clothes till you are dry. And trust me, when they tell you to hold your arms up high, DO IT. FACT: Tan your face, you don't want to look like a white faced clown. I have tanned religiously for the past several years, beginning in San Diego and currently in Los Gatos after I moved up in 2015. As soon as I relocated, I was on the hunt for a tanning professional who would go the extra mile. So many places (especially in Los Gatos, Silicon Valley and SF) will not apply effort to a client. Tinted moisturizers are the best. Make sure to shower before you go and be completely free of perfumes, lotions, deoderants, oils anything and stay away from water and lotion for 10 hours after tanning.
