He was able to teach us the best practices for getting our glass just right! I'd recommend arriving early to have time to explore the plaza. I attended a glass glowing workshop at Liquid Light Glass on a Saturday morning as a part of my friends bachelorette party and it was sooo sick. Our instructor was funny, kind, helpful and very informative- the other folks that checked us in were also so kind and helpful! The class was awesome, we each made a piece we were able to take home the next day. They gave us about ~9 different options we could make including a cup, bowl, chili pepper and paper weights. You can pick whatever colors you would like and it was a super hands on experience. They made sure we had water the whole time (of course it's hot in there!). Overall, 10/10 will return. read more

I made a bowl and wine glass, my husband made 2 drink glasses. It was so much fun, I didn't realize until I took the class how much work is involved in making glass items. I was visiting Santa Fe for 4 days with a friend and was looking to immerse (ok, ok, maybe "experience" is really more my speed) myself in the lauded "art scene" of Santa Fe. I'm not that artsy but found availability for an hour long glass making class here at Liquid Light Glass. The experience was fantastic. Cia, our instructor was super patient and explained everything and anything about the process, the appliances and the glory hole! Yep, you read that right, if you're curious, take a class and ask! The best thing about this class, you can't fail, glass is fluid, your project is fluid, everything is a work art! There something for everyone and the beauty of it is that they really do all the hard parts and but make you feel like your participation matters. Parking is easy, in the lot out front. My group of five friends had our first experience with glass-making at Liquid Light Glass, and we had a blast. Artist Cia was patient, attentive, knowledgeable, and was an overall excellent teacher. We're a group with somewhat chaotic energy, and I had a twisted ankle, but she was able to accommodate us perfectly with her easy-going and positive attitude. In addition to teaching you how to make the paperweight, the instructors, Elodie's students, also teach you about the work space as a whole, and glass blowing and sculpting in general. Wanted to try a class but it was pretty pricey. Thankfully we still checked out the store and it was so beautiful! All the pieces were amazing and it was hard to pick just one to take home. I ended up picking a piece that I felt was a good representation of my trip. The one star off was for the lady there. She wasn't very helpful and didn't care to talk to us about the pieces or how it was done or anything. Even when I asked some questions, she was just saying yes but not really helpful. read more

We had our first glass class this past weekend here (paperweights) and it was a great experience. My daughter and husband were with me along with another 6 people. They were professional, safety was at the forefront of the conversation at all times, and it was genuinely fun! $65 per person, so it's kinda pricey but I would recommend it for the experience and I would suggest booking in advance since they fill up quickly . This isn't something you can do every day, and the artists had their own work displayed which was very inspirational . I'd like to do this again and continue to learn about making art with glass, there are some amazing examples in the adjacent store of how talented these folks are. All I can say is, WOW... My husband has had this fascination with learning how to do basic glass blowing,so I found out about this place to just look around. I had gotten him a glass in our hometown as a gift which he was about to get. As for the studio and gallery it is one of SF'S best hidden treasures with hungry and talented artists of the craft. The staff/artists have us a tour/behind the scenes of how it all works. Simply AMAZING from the art itself to the staff who are eager to teach the community of their passion for the craft. Awesome studio! I had a great time! My boyfriend and I were in from out of town visiting family and planned a stop here in advance. We attended the flower making class and it was so cool. The instructor was very nice and made everything seem so easy we were in a class with two other people and we were able to make two flowers each. It was really fun and when I get back to my hometown I think I will check out the glass blowing scene there. It was hot in the studio but that's to be expected the oven was a whopping 2200*!!!! With the hands-on guidance of the staff, we designed and created a spherical and a heart-shaped paperweight. Call ahead to reserve a spot in the days class. Wear cool clothes (even on a day in the low 70's, it was hot in the studio. The teaching staff are terrific artists and their work is available in the attached gallery. I'm a local Santa Fean, and I've long been a fan of glass artist Elodie Holmes and have taken many visitors to her studio and gallery. But I'd never taken a class until yesterday. I took nine other adult women with me for a three-hour paperweight-making class, and we had a blast. Elodie and artist Janine Caboussel made the experience feel safe, creative and powerful. And what a visually beautiful treat the whole thing was. I highly recommend this as a fabulous and unusual experience, especially for our Santa Fe visitors, who often feel so inspired by the art they see--and in this case, can get a little hands-on taste of what glass-making is like. It's also inexpensive. You must call ahead to make reservations, though! I'm going again as soon as I can get a group of pals together!
