we have taken 2 tours with this outfitter. we had Bill on both occasions and an excellent tour on both occasions. I swear the guy stays up at night studying biology, history, environment and general people skills - he was knowledgeable, patient, skilled boater, avid outdoorsman, environmentalist, bird watcher, plant expert.... you name it - just amazing knowledge and information - would highly recommend wildlife we saw..... We booked here for a 4 hour kayak rental. Only $35 per person! Directions were easy via google maps. I spoke with Kelly for booking and he was great- let me know what the tides would be like before booking the day I wanted. We also met him the morning of and they give you a very detailed map of where to go and we were off. The mangroves are awesome. Fun to wind through and see some birds and appreciate nature. I would recommend going out in the morning. We ran into no one from 9-11am but after that 2 hours were almost waiting in line through some of the mangroves for the tours and other rentals to get through. It got a little congested at times. Highly recommend and booking was easy and staff was friendly. read more

We live right here in Bradenton, but had never gone kayaking, so we decided to fix that today. I am so glad we did because we had an amazing time, and are now looking into buying kayaks of our own. Kelly was our guide, and he was super knowledgeable about the area and intent on teaching people to respect the environment and all of the wildlife in it. He also cracked some pretty good dad jokes that were funny and family friendly. We saw a pod of about 12 manatees right at the start, too - one even bumped my husband's boat! These guys are the ones to use if you're looking for an awesome kayak tour. My girlfriend and I booked a trip online for the afternoon, but when we got there we were told that the afternoon tours were cancelled because water levels were too low. The guide offered an abbreviated tour, but suggested that we come back in the morning. We did and we're happy we took his advice. Kelly, our tour guide, was awesome. He did everything he could to make sure we saw some manatees. Not only did we see them, but he got as close as we could without disturbing them. Amazing. We then paddled over to the mangroves. Kelly was right, there was no way these would be passable during the afternoon as there was only a couple feet of water or less (at some points) when we went through them during the morning tour. Kelly made sure to point out certain wildlife that we would have had no idea was there. I highly recommend using Liquid Blue for your kayaking tours! read more

We did a group tour with Kelly as our guide. He was very helpful with teaching us kayaking skills to prepare us. He had great information on all of the things we saw and pointed out things I wouldn't have seen. He also told us about things we needed to know before the tour started to keep us safe. I hate spiders and he informed us all about the tree crabs (not spiders but not something I would want to fall on me) so that we would be ready for them and not tip out of the canoe (I surely would have done this had I not known and freaked out)! We had a wonderful kayak tour this morning, guided by Kelly! He was very informative and we appreciated the quick and helpful tutorials so that everyone could move along in the kayaks. He patiently waited for a visit from a manatee and was sure to check that everyone got to see that amazing animal. We loved the tours through the mangrove forests--simply amazing! We were fascinated by the tidbits of information that he provided about the ocean ecosystem, animals, etc. Animals we saw: manatee, tree crabs, jumping mullet, some kind of diving grouse, egret, ibis, pelicans, and others. We had 2 kiddos along. Our 6 yo happily rode along with dad and enjoyed the sights. Our 9 yo enjoyed rowing in a tandem kayak with grandma--and Kelly was so patient and helpful when they got turned around!! We were so thankful that he made it a great experience anyway. I will say that some "big people" language was used (mild), which some may be sensitive to. We'd sign on again in a heartbeat. I am always looking for a "new" experience, but I will not return to FL without visiting Liquid Blue Outfitters again. Thanks, Kelly!! read more

Our guide with Liquid Blue today was Kelly. Weather was cool, windy and foggy. After clear and thorough instructions for inexperienced paddlers, Kelly took us out into the wind just enough to get some paddling experience. Then into the calm mangrove trails. We did extra mangrove trails and did not waste time looking for porpoises or manatees in the windy foggy bay. This was both safe and more enjoyable. Kelly is very knowledgeable and cordial. Showed up for a tour and the guys said it was canceled and didn't have us on the books for today. They were afraid yesterday for weather that did not occur today. The sky is blue and 90. We went on a tour of the Mangroves today. Kelly was our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and he was determined for us to see manatees while we were on our tour. The reservation process was simple and the tour was well worth the money. We were a family of five with a six year old riding on the tandem with two adults. We had no kayaking experience but Kelly gave us a run down of the basics in order to feel confident on the water. This was an awesome experience. read more

Kelly our guide with Liquid Blue Outfitters gave us a kayak tour that we will never forget. He deserves everyone of these 5 stars. He is an extremely patient, laid back and knowledgeable guide. His patience and persistency paid off very early on in our trip when we were able to observe not one but 5 wild manatees. He kept our group at a respectful distance while explaining the feeding habits etc. of the manatees. We were followed by playful cormorants the entire way. Saw sea stars, wild sponges, crabs, jelly fish you name it. At the end of our trip Kelly gave my 9 year old son a handful of sharks teeth he had collected on the beach. Thanks Bill and Kelly for our great kayak experience from the Ted Sperling Nature Park on South Lido! Since we are experienced paddlers, we chose to "self-guide" through the mangrove tunnels. The equipment was first class and the service great. Kelly had everything ready for us. Bill took the time to give us an informative orientation- pointing out on the map where we'd have the best chances to see manatees, dolphins and special birds. He also gave us details to look for as we paddled through the mangroves... spider crabs, symbiotic plants, rare birds... It is obvious that Liquid Blue Outfitters wants it's customers to enjoy and respect the beauty and balance of this natural habitat.
