What a wonderful little park, nestled into the neighborhood - a great place to take the family.
I happened upon this little gem a number of years ago when my wife was at an appointment and I needed to "kill" some time with the kids. I searched for nearby parks and this one popped up. I am super glad that we went there, as we have been back countless times!!
They have a good selection of play equipment for a variety of ages and kinesthetic movements (slides, climbing toys, a large spinning toy, monkey bars, balance beams, and swings). The centerpiece of the play area is a large lions mountain-type slide. The kids have to literally climb up the "rock side" to get to the top. Granted, that's a wee bit challenging for some of the youngsters, and their adults may need to help boost them up and spot them from underneath. But the pay-off is great! A good view from the top and a tall, long, straight slide down!!
There also is an animal footprint rock path that is pretty cool. Each rock (they're low to the ground and pretty flat so it's safe) has the footprinted imprinted on them and go in a large "S-shape." Good for balance and for identifying wildlife. Additionally, there are basketball hoops, tennis courts, and a walking path. There is a fair amount of picnic tables available - including a covered pavilion that can be rented out for parties. New in the last year or so is a water feature where kiddos (and adults) can cool off in the hot summer days. Lastly, there's a huge open field for just general running and plays and games.
The biggest challenge that we've found is the "Lion Hunt." Supposedly (according to the sign by the playground) there are 11 Lions hidden around the park. Some are statues, some are carvings, etc. So far, after much looking, we've only found like 4 of them! Hmm?
You'll have to check it out ... a great park, in a safe neighborhood, with lots to do. You can't go wrong! read more
