Evan, Billy, Mike, and Shaun were very professional, polite, and were informative of their products and the process to grade and lay the stone. Our fence had to be removed to allow for equipment and it was properly reinstalled! They laid the rock and soil per plan, so that we can have a low-maintenance yard with a patch of grass for the furry kids-looks just like the diagram created. We're extremely happy! What a transformation from construction site to home site! I can't wait for the neighbors to see how nice it looks and not being the "Black-Eye" on the block. Many thanks and would highly recommend working with Fred, Evan, Billy, Mike, and Shaun again!!!!

Trying to find reliable, affordable, and responsive help with landscaping/gardening needs is…read moresurprisingly difficult. After a month long process of calling landscaping companies (all highly rated on Yelp) which resulted in many unreturned calls and one declined offer (from a company that took 2 weeks to get back to me), I was lucky enough to be given the business card for Martinez Landscaping. This is why I feel so compelled to write this glowing review for Martinez Landscaping. You won't find him/them in the yellow pages. They are somewhat of a hidden gem in my view. I was in the process of selling my house and needed help cleaning up 2 years of neglect in my patio/garden area. It literally looked like an untamed jungle until Abad (the owner) and his workers came to my house. He came to my house, gave me an on the spot offer ($70 for 1 hour worth of work) and got to work right then and there. You could not hope to accomplish as much on your own in several hours as these 3 guys accomplish in one hour. It's actually quite amazing. I actually felt like I owed them more than I paid (that's rare with me). As a bonus, they weeded a small area on my neighbor's side just to be nice. And the owner himself is a genuinely nice, helpful guy. He was telling me he took on a massive cleaning project on a large yard that had been untouched for 10 years. So apparently there is no project that is too much trouble for him and his crew. Another helpful thing I learned from him was that you don't have to be present at home for him to do the work (a godsend for a busy single person like myself).

It was completely rude and unprofessional on their part. They should have taken responsibility for their mistake and apologized to me. Instead, they will lose a lot of potential business as a result.

When the tree fell, it took out a large portion of our fence. It was a MESS. The tree company gave me a $6000 estimate just to cut up the fallen tree and cut down the other 2. They wouldn't take the wood. I contacted J-N-K for the fence. I mentioned the tree estimate and Mr.Florek, owner, J-N-K, said "that is way too much!" He offered to do the whole job. He ended up cutting down the 2 additional trees, cutting up all 3 trees, taking the wood AND redid our fence so it's better than new. All for $2500. He came on Wednesday and by Friday morning at 10:30 am the job was finished. They cleaned up the area and our yard looks like new. They came each day early and worked quickly. I really wanted to find a long term lawn care person... but this wasn't it. When I messaged for a…read morequote they did get right back to me. He came out relatively quickly and did a site visit to give me a bid although the day after he said he would initially be out which caused me to change plans and use two days to get bid. The bid was very reasonable - about an acre for 120 + grass removal. I accepted and he said he would be back Thursday or Friday the next week. Both days came and went then I got a message that he would be there Saturday... I was supposed to be off the 2 days he told me to expect him but was working on Saturday. When I came home the lawn still was not mowed. I then got a text and he said I hadn't accepted the invoice he had sent me via text. I told him I didn't know I needed to and asked about some extra charges on the invoice - as it turns out he accidentally added taxes for a few different locales on my bill. The bill was corrected and I accepted the invoice. He (or an employee) showed up to mow - almost 2 weeks after the initial bid and a week after the first scheduled time - but didn't bring their riding lawn mower and only finished about a third of the yard due to grass height. He notified me of the issue, told me he would be out the next day with his rider to finish. He did finish mowing the yard but since he was charging extra for grass removal he sent me a message saying he got all the grass up that his rider would pull up. I thought that was odd... I waited to pay until I saw the yard - and his assessment that he got everything up that could be was not true. There were sections of the lawn that looked almost raked and other sections that were thick with grass and without tire tracks through it. It obviously had NOT been driven over. I messaged him with pictures and said either to remove the grass removal fee or come back out and finish the job. He sent me a new invoice with a reduced amount and no further communication. I saw the other reviews, I understand the nature of the work and how things may need to be fluid as far as dates/times. I even would have been fine if he had simply said that he would come back out and finish picking up the grass... and I would have given him another shot. But collectively the missed dates for the bid, missed dates for the mowing, the first trip out being unprepared - despite having seen and bid the job, failing to finish picking up the grass and finally not coming out and finishing the grass removal - I just cannot do business with this kind of performance.. and I really wanted to. He did remove the grass removal fee, that was a positive...I regretfully cannot recommend this company and will be looking again.
