This address houses the Reid, Elk, Nest, and Oxen studios. There's a small sign outside the building, but it's pretty underwhelming until you get inside. GPS takes you to the right building for directing clients there.
PROS:
-The studios are beautifully decorated with enough "spots" to give you a variety of shots in a single room. In general, photographers seem to be great about returning the space back to its original, shiny space, so you'll end up with a beautiful studio that's easy to access (please make sure to continue the trend!).
-Booking the studios is super easy. As long as there's free time slots, you can book and pay for your rental spots online.
-Getting into the studios is easy too. Ahead of time, you'll be texted the necessary codes (for photographer use only) to get into the studios. These seem to be automated texts, so I've never had someone forget.
-Elk has its own restroom, and so does Reid (both in-studio). Other studios in the building have an available restroom outside of the studio but in the building.
-The multi-floor set-up here means that you get some really lovely natural light on the higher studios. Since it's a natural light studio, this makes for much easier shooting. I'm particularly fond of Elk and Reid - which have a TON of natural light.
-Bathrooms are always clean and well-stocked. Most studios have in-room temperature control, but the studios are always decently near room temp unlike some unheated/uncooled studios in warehouse buildings. This one is in an older office-esque building.
CONS:
-Within the last year, Lion & Ram's ownership changed hands. It looks like the new studio owners (or managers) may not be photographers as the holiday preview photos for the studios aren't great lighting representations of what the studios actually look like. There's a lot more natural light in Elk than the 2023 Holiday previews show. I'm glad because I almost didn't book because of the darkness of the preview photos.
-Do be aware that there are multiple flights of stairs to some of the studios here. Lion & Ram is good about noting this on their website, but make sure you're ready to walk at least 1 flight of stairs to the lower-most studio - and 3 to the top. read more
