I LOVED getting the digital Rapid City Journal in my email each morning for the past 2 years--it is really easy to navigate, and I enjoyed the variety of local, statewide, and national news featured in the Journal. But, since I am moving to another state, I decided to cancel my subscription so that I can subscribe to the newspaper of my new home. I think everyone, at some point, has had bad experiences with customer service reps--being put on hold for long periods of time, being transferred to a line with loud classical music for 45 minutes, etc.--those slightly unpleasant customer service experiences don't hold a candle to this. I called (very politely) and gave my name and account information to the customer service representative. I had the "account status" website page opened up in front of me so that I knew I would be giving him the correct information. Because I live on school housing on a reservation, I explained that others could be on the address linked to my account, so I suggested that he try to look me up via phone number or account number. The customer service representative got super angry, accused me of making information up, lying about my name, lying about having an account, and wasting his time. I am a teacher, so I am used to dealing with negativity and frustration, but this was seriously aggressive in a totally unnecessary way. I was not expecting to be yelled at over a newspaper cancelation on a Thursday morning, but here we are. Finally, after over 10 minutes of being berated on the phone by this man, (I did not raise my voice once, and was trying to comply the whole time) all he had to do was type in my phone number to find the account. Ridiculous. Rapid City Journal, for the love of all things good and holy, MAKE A CANCELLATION OPTION ON YOUR WEBSITE and hire a local high school kid with dreams of becoming a writer/journalist to work as a customer service intern instead of outsourcing to such an aggressive and unprofessional individual.

    ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I subscribed to access the archives for a family member and then tried to…read morecancel and found it to be impossible. You cannot do this online- you have to call a number and good luck ever talking to anyone. You just stay on hold indefinitely. They count on you to give up and then take another $30 a month. I have had to force a stop payment through my banking institution to get anything done. Please, I'm begging, DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF SUBSCRIBING!
