This was a great choice. I grabbed a cinnamon roll, and ordered a cup of their filtered coffee (they no longer offer Chemex, sadly) and an order of poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon. This was something new for me, and I loved the simplicity of it. The sourdough toast was amazing, and the poached eggs went with it perfectly. High marks for the bacon also! Service was quick, and everything was brought out promptly. This is a nice coffee shop, plenty of seating, and a quiet place to have a conversation or get some work done. I know the people in the UK love their tea, but I would happily be a regular here if I lived in Belfast.

It has a great position right in the centre of the town, with fantastic views of the castle and Belfast Lough. The inside is bright and has lots of seating. They offer the usual teas and coffees, with an amazing range of milkshakes, soft drinks and hot chocolate. I had a bacon butty when I visited which was delicious, but they also have a good range of sandwiches, sweet treats, and waffles! Limited parking is available on the street outside, and further up Main Street. Failing that there is lots of free parking available in the Castle Car Park, just a short walk away.

I had a toasted bagel with cream cheese and bacon. There were 3 thick sliced pieces of lean bacon and a little pot of cream cheese. My friend had a bowl of porridge and honey with a mix of soft fruit on top. We both had a cappuccino which was hot frothy and a good hit of caffeine. We ordered and paid at the counter and our food was served to out table by a friendly chatty member of staff. The place was spotless as were the loos. There's a nice outdoor seating area for those warmer summer days but as it was a mixture of pouring rain and sun so we sat inside.

It has a wide range of olives, obscure tinned items and a very varied deli counter with a wide selection of cheeses and hams to cater to even the most obscure taste. For me the best part about here is the sandwich bar. There is everything here that you would ever want to put in a sandwich. The bread is cooked on site and is always fresh as a daisy, and sandwiches are generously crammed. The Lemon Tree is somewhere you would imagine to be located in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales. With it's wooden chairs, old-fashioned lace table cloths, huge dark fireplace and low ceilings, this cafe certainly has a very snug and traditional feel to it. The menu reflects this, with a good number of solid 'pub grub' type options, including soup, pies, sandwiches etc. As I previously mentioned, my sister opted for the scampi, which came with a massive side of chunky chips, while I went for the chicken goujons (predictable...as always) with a load of those fab chips, plus a sweet chilli dip. The scampi was gorgeous, the chips were wonderful, and the goujons weren't bad at all. If only they'd been coated in breadcrumbs though...why do these places insist on making them in batter?! It has limited opening hours, usually being open from 9 to 3 or 4, but this is due to a probable lack of passing trade the rest of the day due to the pulling power of AJs further down the street. They serve you with a smile on their faces, and prepare a wonderful array of delicious sandwiches, Panini's and ciabattas, as well as a wide range of coffees, tray bakes and freshly made soups. It was probably big enough for four people and we definitely couldn't finish it, although it was not for lack of trying. Service was quick and friendly and it was a pleasant atmosphere. It is a large place which allows for it to get quite busy. It was a quiet weekend when we were there, but it was still quite busy. If anything, I would say that would be a testament to the quality of this place.
