We recently returned to Moshe for a bundle of watch battery replacements. Although the mall was very quiet, there was a steady stream of customers in the store. We were noticed immediately at the door and the gate opened to let us in. We were quickly greeted by another staff, who asked what we needed (which was 5 watch battery replacements on this occasion.) She let us know that we could check the items in for the work and return in half an hour. We left to browse the mall and duly returned not too much longer than the allotted half an hour. Once again, we were immediately let back in the store. I recognized the lady who attended to us for the pickup. She advised that one of the watches was not in fact working. Her assessment was that it likely wouldn't be worth investing more money into fixing. The other 4 watches were all ready to go, complete with updated date and time settings on all of them. I really appreciated that they will recognize the value of not using a credit card, and give a discount accordingly. In the past, the proprietor Ray spent a patient and fulsome amount of time with me to review pieces I was interested in. I also like that they update their inventory regularly, so there's always something new to look at for an upcoming occasion. It was the only reason we had for going to Promenade, and definitely worth returning.

I was researching gold cross pendants for my dad. It led me to Luk Fook Jewellery. It's located at…read moreCF Markville Mall, across from Cinnabon on the first floor. The closest major department store by Luk Fook is Walmart. I parked near entrance 11. I walked in and over to the jewellery store. Shopping at Luk Fook feels like you are in strict pandemic lockdown, except that you're looking at non-essential items. The door is locked. You basically need to knock on the door or flap your arms to get someone to let you in. The catch is that you need to wear a mask. I wasn't wearing one, so I got a paper one provided by this business. The next step is getting your temperature taken with a digital thermometer when you are barely in the store. You are then asked to sanitize your hands. I did all of these steps and felt like I was going to see my dentist. I was simply missing the blue shoe protectors. I got a woman, Connie, helping me out. I indicated that I was looking for a gold cross pendant for my dad and asked to look at a few styles. She led me to some small, simple ones. My dad's gold cross was much larger. We walked over to larger ones. I sat down to admire them. One was rough to the touch. It looked unpolished. I pointed that out. The last thing was to have my dad get nicked wearing it. There was a more polished cross that I thought would be better. This woman thought that I'd buy it immediately. I needed to consult with my dad and asked how much it was. The price depends on the daily price of gold. On this day, it was $596 for the cross. She suggested that I put down a deposit. I wasn't ready to commit, but said that I'd book a time to come over after having talked to my dad. She asked when. I said within the week. I didn't like being pressed to put down a deposit and commit to buying the cross. It was frankly a lot of money for a rather basic pendant. There were a couple of actions on her part that rubbed me the wrong way: - She asked at the end, "You are coming back to buy it, right?" - When I described the ordeal that my dad went through with having his gold cross snatched off his necklace by two lowlifes, she had no interest listening to a thirty-second story. She was more interested in a sale than human interaction and connection. I didn't enjoy my time in this store. Anyway, I took her card, thanked her, and left. She did take down my cell number. A week later, she called me and left a voice message. During our discussion in the store, we spoke entirely in English. Her voice message was entirely in Cantonese. She assumed that I'd get it. I applaud the guess, but it was quite bold and sort of weird. I didn't feel any warmth in here. I get better reception at my dentist and I feel important. I felt like this place was more interested in sealing the deal on a sale than getting to know me. If we are speaking in English in the store, I'd expect that detail to translate in future communication, including a follow-up call. It was such a weird experience. I liked my time a Divine Jewellery better. (408)

It was just a few days before New Year's Day in December of 2014. I wasn't expecting my necklace to be repaired while I wait-in fact I didn't even expect to get it back until after the new year. I went across the street to grab a coffee, came back, and within minutes it was already done, and for a very reasonable price. The second time was just today, again for the same necklace. This time I accidentally broke it while pulling my sweater off. This time the repair was done in about 3 business days. Again, I was greeted with a smile once I was buzzed in, and I was treated very warmly. I'm not engaged yet, but I'll be gently nudging my boyfriend in the direction of this jewellery store...

My experience today highlighted serious issues with how sellers are treated. I initially brought photos into the store. Staff (John) sent the photos to the owner's son, Jarred, who responded with an $1,800 cash quote. I went home to retrieve the physical bag and brought it back. The associate logged the bag's condition internally as 9/10 (excellent, with dust bag) and resent photos. Despite explaining three times that I was feeling unwell due to low blood sugar and asking them to speed up or offer a piece of sugar, I was made to wait over 30 minutes while customers who arrived after me were served first. I left briefly to eat nearby and returned. Upon returning, I was suddenly told the offer was dropped to $1,200 cash. When I expressed frustration, I was publicly told in front of other customers that I was 'confused,' and was offered $50 for my 'time' which was only reframed as 'coffee money' after I became visibly distressed by the public humiliation. To de escalate, Joe the manager moved me to a private back room. Once inside, the associate admitted that the original $1,800 quote was indeed real. They eventually "honored" the $1,800 payout, and management apologized both on site and in a follow up phone call. I hold a full audio recording of the resolution inside the back room cause I didn't trust them anymore after basically calling me a "liar" in front of others. Advice for future sellers: Be aware that they actively pay $20-$30 for positive reviews, so online ratings do not reflect every customer's reality. Be careful answering questions about why you are selling, as seller vulnerability is often used as leverage. Get every quote in writing before walking through the door, and do not accept sudden price drops after being made to wait.

The pieces are solid gold and quite expensive. Customer service has been poor in each experience with no positive resolutions. In the instance of the broken bracelet, I was told it's considered "wear and tear" despite only having the bracelet for two years and it being marketed as an "everyday" bracelet. I asked for a link to write an updated review for this bracelet and was told it wasn't possible as I'd already left a review 2 years prior (when I had first purchased it and did not have issues). If this company considers 2 years a sufficient life span for a solid gold bracelet, it is not a store I recommend you spending your money at. I sincerely regret the $1200+ I've spent here myself.
