The Four Seasons is regularly described as 'really authentic', the reason being that it is really…read moreauthentic. We had a meal there last week before going onto somewhere else and, as usual, we were more than pleased. Nothing can quite beat the pleasure of perusing a menu with a cold Tsing Tao Chinese beer in your hand. While you're doing this, The Four Seasons, like most Chinese restaurants, serves prawn crackers while you do this, but it also serves little dishes of fire-hot chilli dip and a green chive and ginger dipping sauce that could lead to a momentary lapse in table manners as you try to scoop up the last bits. We always over-order, so we agreed to have 2 starters and one main course: how can I describe what their hand-made dumplings taste like? Or the 8 inch long, skinny spring rolls with their own pork and garlic filling? Kimchee beef followed, more beer and what do you know? Stuffed - again! Here are my tips for a successful visit: loose clothes, no thoughts of going on to party anywhere else, and a nice bed to drift into later! The staff are lovely and the clientele loyal, it's reasonably pricey, but so what when there's no pink, gloopy sweet and sour sauce in sight? This is a restaurant to treat yourself to, but you'll want to go back, I promise.

The menu is vast and after a long deliberation I decided to try their crispy shredded beef with chili sauce- it didn't disappoint! The food was really good and the portion's were big too which is always great! They gave us free prawn crackers and the house wine was really nice too. We were with a group of 8 people and this didn't seem to phase the staff or the kitchen who all took it in their stride. Great pace to go for s date or with a big group as they can cater for all really well.

The food in the Phoenix is about as good as you are going to get in Bangor and pretty competitive in their pricing with a chicken curry with fried rice/ soft noodlesd (free prawn crackers) being delivered for £6.10, and their delivery drivers are nice guys and I have never had to phone up and ask where a delivery is...! Pretty extraordinary if you ask me. Their curry is the only reason I go here if I am being honest and it is best thing on their menu...! Although I have it on very good authority the chow mein and black bean sauce and kung-po chicken are also worthy competitors. Their portions are also huge and their rice and noddles don't come in the usual silver tin packages that most Chinese restaurants use but the same bigger plastic cartons that the mains come in. I usually go for a delivery but over Christmas was here with a large party and they put is in a back room that was great and gave us some privacy, and meant other diners in main restaurant didn't have to listen to us! The owner is a lovely woman always smiling and happy to help and she even delivers sometime late in the evening! Phoenix also do a buffet during the day now but also offer a deal on their normal lunch menu that's £5.95 for a starter, main and dessert being served 6 days a week. This one better not shut down now...!

This is by far the best Chinese in County Down…read more They have crispy lamb served in lettuce leaf a starter, beaten only by moo-choo pork, garlic salted chilli cod (or monkfish) and their special curry and seafood hotpot are the best mains around Sally and Stella are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble
