The children are provided organic, vegan meals and snacks every day, with produce coming from the school garden and local farmers' markets. I always tell people it's like having a farm-to-table experience at preschool! The kids also get to participate in and learn from the gardens, which makes the whole experience even more meaningful. People are often surprised by how well my son eats his fruits and vegetables, and I truly think being exposed to fresh food and gardening at school has played a big part in that. We've even had the opportunity to taste the food ourselves at special events, and everything has been delicious. Sometimes we can't believe it's all vegan and we aren't even a vegan family! Their personalities, quirks, interests, and individual needs. You can tell how much they truly care about them. He walks in happy, and that's worth a lot to a parent. Some changes I've seen at home since he started: He's learning to handle his emotions. When he gets frustrated, he calms himself down in a way he couldn't before. His manners are also excellent now, and people comment on it. Mealtime is completely different. The lunches are catered, organic and vegan, and all the kids sit and eat together. He picked up their habits fast and now eats like a little adult at our table too. Potty training was the big surprise. The teachers worked on it with him, and after just two weeks he was asking for the potty at home by himself. We had been stuck on that for a while, so this felt like a miracle. Every day is in French, English, Spanish and Mandarin. I'm a big believer in learning languages early for brain development, and he picks things up like a sponge. I also like that there's a real daily curriculum. Plenty of schools spend their energy on marketing and fancy websites. This one spends it on the kids. There's structure and actual learning, not just free play all day. The regular updates and photos are a nice bonus. I get to see his day, and it gives us something to talk about at dinner. The parents are a great group too. That school had beautiful facilities, a large playground, and lots of fancy toys. However, despite all of that, our son cried almost every morning when we dropped him off. Over time, we noticed that our normally very happy and talkative boy became quieter and less excited about school. Everything changed after we transferred him to Aria Montessori during the summer. After about a 10-day break from the previous school, he started at Aria. From the very first days, he was excited and genuinely happy to go to school. Now he wakes up looking forward to his day. He has learned wonderful manners, greeting his teachers with a cheerful "Good morning" during drop-off and happily saying "Bye-bye Mommy." Many afternoons he even reminds me not to pick him up early because he doesn't want to miss activities like cooking on Tuesdays, science experiments, or popsicle day. What we appreciate most about Aria is that while the environment may be simpler than some larger private schools, the teachers truly care about the children. They create a warm, nurturing atmosphere where kids feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Both of our children (who are very different from each other!) have thrived here. It's clear that Rayuela is a place that supports all kinds of learners and personalities.
