I came down by skytrain right after sunset of New Years eve. The parking was getting full. After 6pm, it was completely full and the city closed parking. I highly recommend to use Skytrain, especially after 5pm, Translink has a free ride campaign. The light displays were very well made. For a free event, it was more than I expected. Two food trucks and ice cream stand are also located. Good place to hang out with your family.

Wonderfully long stroll around Lafarge lake during the holidays! I was impressed by the expanse of the displays - it was my first time coming here. My favourite sections were the fairytale themed parts, and the interactive (ish) parts in the main arena. Free parking and free admission. Can't go wrong. Great for getting into the holiday spirit!

Pretty cool annual light display during the holiday season. Great venue for socializing with friends. Parking is available in the Evergreen Centre lot, as well as on the side streets. Fortunately it doesn't seem to get too packed. The lake is actually not that big. I think the entire perimeter can be walked in under 15 minutes if one is in a rush. The lights are all the newest LED ones, so everything is nice and colourful. Personally I got a kick out of the hidden pirate area on the NW corner. There are several food trucks and other vendors at various spots, which provides a chance to pick up something warm if one gets too cold. Definitely worth checking out if one hasn't gone before. Makes for some really good photos too.

Wow! I'm impressed. A dear friend & yelp elite recommended this location when I asked if there was anything I should put on my list to see. So take my advise, put it at the top of the list to see. This week I've randomly but excitedly found lots of light displays throughout Port Moody & Coquitlam driving to & from my appointments. I always thought Edmonton & the greater area did it up big for Christmas. Well Coquitlam has taken the Christmas lights display to the next level for this Alberta girl! I only had it in me to probably walk about 1/3 of all the light displays. I use a cane & found my way mostly along paved paths which was really good for me as some areas were very crowded due to size of the path weaving along the lake. Truly a wonderful place that is family friendly, great for couples & for singles all wanting to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights displays. There's choir groups, large Christmas & other children friendly characters walking around /giving directions & several spots for food trucks. I noted even a area for hot coco. The whole area was very well decorated around the large lake area, gardens & surrounding park space. Honestly, I just smiled the whole time taking photos. There's something beautiful everywhere you look. As for distance, I couldn't walk the full event space. I just didn't have the energy nor the walking stamina. Granted it doesn't matter what distance you walk out there. Lots of benches all over (but bring a blanket & umbrella, as when the weather changes it's definitely a wet adventure) to pause for a break or just enjoy the views. It's nearly all accessible too. There's a few spots a wheelchair, stroller or walker wouldn't make due to some more gravel like paths in the garden side areas but the most part is paved pathways. The train stops right at the corner of the park. The buses go up there & lots of vehicle parking options along the road & in the park too. Besides things from the food trucks, the event is free. Truly I was shocked; as in this is a very amazing thing of Christmas kindness for the local community residents & tourists. Side note, it was really sweet to have a free glow stick from the main tent in the amphitheater area. With the glow stick in hand (well sticking out of my purse, as I needed the umbrella tonight) no one was walking into me while I was looking for next safe steps to take in the darker areas or just trying to get out of the way from a mass of people exiting the larger lake walk loop. This was the best decision to go enjoy before the cold front truly hits Vancouver & area. Believe me, if you're in Vancouver or the greater areas, bundle up & take the time to go over to Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam. By far my favourite Christmas find!

They always do an amazing job at Lafarge lake with the lights for the holidays. It is free to go view them and you can stay as long as you wish. It's nice to do a loop and take some beautiful pictures

Lights at Lafarge is a fun little trip in Coquitlam that's also free! The walking perimeter of the entire lake is decked out in Christmas lights. There are also several themed areas for photo opportunities. You can find two spots for hot chocolate and ice cream and there are also warming centres available for when it gets too cold! Love this park and loved the lights! While taking our time walking and taking pictures, it took around an hour to complete the entire loop while traveling into Coquitlam Town Centre Park as well. The washrooms are single stalls and the park is quite busy because of the lights, so expect a long wait if you need to go.

Possibly the most beautiful free Christmas display I have ever seen. I'm also surprised how I hadn't heard about it till this year. When you have places charging upwards of $20, this is a refreshing scene. We came here on the night of Christmas around 9pm. It was packed! We found parking along the street close by, but there seemed to be some parking spots available in the parking lot. The lights are strewn around the perimeter of the entire lake with such a variety of displays. From flowers to geese to a tree house (I know! What is it even doing there?), it's a wonderful stroll around the lake. They even have signs dictating that it's a one-way (counter-clockwise) to help facilitate the traffic. I only saw a few people who didn't seem to have gotten the memo. Pictures can't fully capture the cheery atmosphere pervading around the lake: the glistening of lights on the opposite end reflecting off of the water, the whimsically changing lights, and the shared chilly breaths of awe. There even is a cute "Warming tent" where there are some heaters and chairs to rest. There also is a concession stand that sells mini-donuts apparently, but I think it said it was only open Thurs. - Sun. After reading their website upon coming home, I also found out that there is a tree that changes colors based on sound. Now I know why there was a group caroling underneath that tree! If you haven't had time to go see some lights this season, I'd highly recommend this holiday gem. On their website, it says it'll be up all the way through Jan. 20th!

Beautiful stroll activity to take the family to see the lights at night. It gets dark around 5ish so after dinner works to burn the calories.. Had family in town and they really loved it!

Such a nice stroll eventhough it was raining. You woild have to go when its dark out - after sunset. The walk is not that far and it is family friendly. Definitely a place to bring your date along and have a romantic time. Lots of place to take a picture. Tip: Bring a camera or your google pixel that can take low light photos. Lots of parking just beside the evergreen line. Definitely bring an umbrella if it is raining. Some roads are not smooth, so do not go with your roller blades.

It's basically a tugboat with a barge attached that chugs back and forth across the river every ten minutes or so. You can drive, but the ferry has limited capacity for cars (maybe six?), no public parking on the island, and you have to back up off the ferry when you get to Barnston Island. It's better to leave the car in the free lot at the end of 104 Ave in Surrey and walk or take your bike. (The ferry is also free.) Most of the island is private property (lots of "no trespassing" signs), although there is one park at the northwest corner with picnic tables and some marshy beach. A narrow paved road encircles the island, a 10 km route with very little traffic and plenty of scenery. On our summer bike ride, we saw everything from goats to eagles to skydivers, with views of Golden Ears Bridge, the North Shore Mountains and Mt. Baker in the distance. An abandoned home with brambles taking over the doorway was also strangely cool. Barnston Island has a peaceful feeling, inhabited yet abandoned at the same time. One car passed us on the entire ride, and the only other people we saw were fellow cyclists and walkers. There are also no stores on the island, so be sure to bring your own water and provisions. You can say you've been somewhere without really leaving.

The large back wall is usually clear. Some observations recently that caught my eyes, and had me stop and take closer looks: - an impressionistic, watercolour poster - at the bus shelter on Cameron Street, near the entrance to Lougheed Town Centre. - the great blue heron etchings on back walls of units - this one at the bus stop on Cameron Street, in front of the Cameron Recreation Centre. - informative, non-commercial advertising - at a shelter in the Lougheed Town Centre Bus Station, and at the one on Cameron Street, near the entrance to Lougheed Town Centre. - a different view & design - the bus stop shelter at Hope, BC - a main stop there for local and tour buses - much larger and very open design - colourful signage, and flower baskets in season - photos captured during a past stay. From my recent observations, most poster displays at the bus stop shelters appear to feature commercial advertisements. I will continue to look for, and hope to catch more of the art, and informative, non-marketing varieties.

I thought that maybe it was a line that had been added on because of New Year's Eve or at that the prices on the menu now reflected the 20% gratuity and no further tipping would be required. Penne Alfredo was just a simple dish of penne with white creamy sauce and Parmesan cheese, but OMG! It was extraordinarily delicious! Chef Henry could cook this simple dish so well that I could 100% guarantee it is hard to find such a good simple dish in Greater Vancouver. Linguine Pescatora was full of seafood (shrimps, mussels, clams, scallops, and calamari) in a light spicy tomato sauce.
