History
Established in 2007.
Lighthouse Real Estate was founded by Joe Porter right before the Great Recession hit, paralyzing the real estate market. While reflecting on the shortage of affordable housing, Joe purchased his first rental property. Working each day on renovating the home, he rented it out to a family looking for a home at a fair rental rate, and he was hooked. 52 units later, Lighthouse has changed neighborhoods, providing quality housing for low and middle income families, maintaining a $4 Million portfolio.
Once the economy recovered, Joe turned his focus to helping clients buy and sell homes, offering his experience in construction and a network of tradesmen he gained during the previous years.
Joe's wife Claire, joined Lighthouse in 2017. With a background in business development and years of building relationships throughout Charleston, joining Lighthouse to focus on development was a natural choice. With her on board, they surpassed $7 Million in sales in 2018.
Meet the Business Owner: Joe P.
Joe Porter and his wife Claire live on James Island with their daughters June and Mary. Both graduates of the College of Charleston, they've been enjoying the Lowcountry life for over 15 years. During the Summer you can catch them at Folly Beach most days, and when things cool down they're often adventuring in their 1975 Airstream Sovereign, a camper they've affectionately named Rachael.
