It follows a traditional school calendar. My daughter started here at 22 months and continued all the way to Pre-K. The impact this sweet little school has had on my daughter is beyond measure. She LOVED this school and it instilled in her a love for learning and her classmates, who she developed deep friendships with and still sees on play dates even after completing her years at the preschool. The classes are small and close, with teachers who love what they do and have been there for years. Her graduation from Living Word Lutheran Preschool was in May of 2024, and she is now in Kindergarten and excelling, thanks to the work of these amazing teachers. I'm going to list several of the things I love about this school: - Teachers have lots of experience, love what they do, and continue to be lifelong learners (professional development annually). I'm a (former) high school teacher and this was important to me as a teacher myself. And they were such a blessing in my daughter's life - my daughter loved them all so much from the toddler class to the 2's to the 3's to pre-K. She still asks me how they're doing. We actually made the decision to join the church after our daughter was here for several years - and we love it. -Great activities - which in our years there- included St. Jude's Trike-a-thon, growing butterflies, nature walks, "dinosaur hunts," and tons of art projects in addition to the academics. -Lots of play time: so important for socialization. They have a wonderful, gated playground- definitely worth seeing on the tour. They get to ride tricycles out on the playground too in addition to all the climbing structures. My Gym visits Living Word Lutheran Preschool weekly (included in price) and they have other offered activities that come to the school including Soccer Shots and Boni's dance. -Academics-wise: I wanted her to be prepared for kindergarten and kindergarten has been a great experience based on her foundation from this preschool. -Organization/Communication: A handbook clearly outlines the school's procedures. They have an efficient car line before and after school, too, but my favorite thing to do was park in the farther church parking lot and walk my daughter up this walking path they have that goes to the entrance of the church. She loved running/hopping/skipping to school on that little walking path. The director, Ms. Bev, is amazing and she is to credit for the school's excellent communication. -Hours: As dual working parents, the hours 8:30-2:30 plus the ability to add before care and/or after care worked wonderfully for our family. To note: as they follow a traditional school calendar, the school does not run in the summer. I used to tell the director, Ms. Bev, that I'd continue my daughter here if they offered beyond Pre-K. While there are some positives, ultimately the cons outweighed the pros, and we made the decision to withdraw him. One of our biggest concerns was the lack of structure and classroom management, particularly with teachers Amy and Natalie (science and ELA). It never felt like they truly cared about our son as an individual, and issues at school were never communicated to us as parents. We've had our child in private schools for years and have never encountered some of the incidents we experienced here, incidents that were genuinely appalling. The school seems to promote freedom and compassion, but in our experience, that often masked a lack of accountability and consistency. Natalie, the reading teacher, was known for favoritism towards certain students (especially the girls), and this was widely acknowledged among the students but never addressed by leadership. Behavior issues in the classroom were often ignored, and there was no real structure in place to support student discipline or teacher accountability. Academically, we were disappointed by the lack of real assessment and instruction especially in reading and grammar. Grammar, for example, was only corrected during portfolio work, but not actively taught. We had to hire outside tutoring just to get our son up to grade level. After an assessment for a new school, we discovered he wasn't at grade level for math either. In summary, while the school may present a warm and progressive image, the day-to-day reality did not reflect true care, structure, or educational quality. Children need both freedom and clear boundaries, and above all, they need educators who see and support them as individuals. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. I cannot recommend this school.

Students are respectful, well- mannered, and kind to other peers, no sign of bullying, which is great and rare to see nowadays. It's very easy to make friends here as long as you try talking with others! They will all approach you, too! The program offered here is also highly rewarding and amazing and am so thankful for it. Each student has the opportunity to earn as high as an Associates Degree in this school! You are practically a college student, with a college email with LoneStar, do assignments, pick your classes and schedule, and get many privileges here! Of course it can be challenging, but as long as you do all your work and study on time, you can get great grades, have nice friends, and enjoy all your free time stress free!!! All the High School work is online, therefore it is recommended to bring your own personal laptop, but they also let you use the school laptops which are pretty good too for free! All your college tuition, and textbooks, etc is free too! We use to not have ANYTHING athletically related, but our school is soon starting a soccer team this year and other sports! You have much freedom and advantages in this school, so as long as you behave good and do your best, it will be easy and rewarding at the end! Sadly, there is no transportation or lunch provided, but there are microwaves and vending machines! The only thing I wish they could fix is having more school spirit! I wish we could do things together as a whole school at least on Fridays! Also, I wish we could have more clubs to help in certain careered like maybe a medicine/ health club, LAW club, teaching, technology, ART, journalism, etc. to help people find ways to find a career they are interested in if still indecisive.... WTH has been the ideal fit for us. All the teachers have at least a bachelors and many have a masters in teaching. Most have also been at WTH or teaching for many many years. When you step in WTH you can immediately tell that it's a real school environment-- they even have a library and lunch room. In a short period of time, my four year old is advancing really quickly. With in just a few weeks he's already holding a pencil correctly and writing his name (both things he didn't do at prior preschools). This was my two year old's first experience at preschool. I was a little nervous because he's never been cared for outside of our home. With in just a week he would detach with no problem and walk away with a "bye mommy." He's also becoming really independent through their encouragement. He'll bring his own things into school and put them away. It's also worth noting that the director is almost always present and is fully immersed in the activities at the school. I see her all the time from drop off to pick up.
