This is where you can find organic cotton tampons, non-chemical chapsticks, Comvita throat lozenges. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who don't think you're weird when you don't want a bag, and they have a loyalty card system. Conveniently located near a supermarket, post office, florist... it's a very handy place to stop in and pick up your naturally derived products. There's also a fruit and vege store owned by - I believe - the same people, just around the corner so you can also pick up your produce and free range eggs all in the same trip. Tip: Access/closer parking is easier if you drive in from the Highland Park Drive side, between the two Countdowns. (Yes, two Countdowns. It's ridiculous I know.)

You know what is the coolest about Huckleberries? Is the fact that they try to be ethical - this…read moremeans supporting many independent growers/companies without it just being about business. This then also extends on to the customers, they go out of their way to help people; AND to their competitors as well. Organic stores in Auckland have a rich interlinked history I recently discovered, including that this store is also owned by the guys in Grey Lynn, Harvest Whole foods. I admit that I am not around this area enough to call it my local, but I know several people that do. It has a great reputation and for good reason (even if not the 'cheapest' of organic stores). One of the particular draw cards about Huckleberries is that they sell meat, (as opposed to Harvest). This is great for those of us that are still carnivores but like to know about the sources of our animal consumption. And I can buy pork free snags here - yay! Recently I have been on the hunt for some ethical-eco black eyeliner, I noticed on their website that they stock some, which is great as I was almost ready to give up hope for anything local. The black pencil variety cost $31.00, and I will be making a trip there very soon for that indeed! These guys have a great website too and list the specials for those of you that may want to check it out before you go on in.

Finally, they almost always ask if you've found everything you need; don't be shy about saying if you haven't, as odds on they'll either find it for you, or offer to get it in for you. (Also, despite their address being on Dominion Rd, they don't actually have a frontage onto Dominion Road. To find them turn into Walters Road, then turn into the driveway that points to the Wendy's drive through, and they're just tucked in to your right).

I came here over christmas time as my family wanted to get a fair bit of Antipodes for christmas…read moreday both sparkling and still and I had seen that you can purchase by the case here. It's such a cool store, they have sooooo many brands of water, I didn't even know there were so many. They have brands from all over the world but I really love that the water made right here in little old NZ hold a strong place in terms of quality and taste. Something I really love about this store is that they provide a selection of low sodium waters, sodium is something I always try to cut down on because we get so much of it in our food. Sparkling water tends to have quite a bit of sodium in it which I hate because I love it so when I saw that Aquadeli provides low sodium options I was absolutely thrilled. I have been looking for a brand of water called Voss water and haven't been able to find it anywhere so I rang Aquadeli and they helpful guy there explained that they have tried to bring it in themselves but weren't able to so no where else in NZ would stock it either. While this was disappointing it was also really useful because now I don't have to waste my time searching for it. If you are after any type of water you have to come here, they are extremely knowledgable and are keen to help.

Do it with limited edition glass bottled water from Evian featuring artwork from collaborations with the likes of Paul Smith and Diane Von Furstenberg. There are full nutritional profiles for each water, the mineral content and level of carbonation if that interests you too. If you are really into water then they sell books on it too, really an awesome store to check out just for the hell of it.

During those 12 years one of the owners frequently went to America to buy the stock. And for many years they got special orders for me. But ever since the pandemic they have lost the plot. They refused to accept special orders and their shelves rarely offer me what I want. I have repeatedly asked them to figure out a new method of getting their supplies which they refuse to do. How they stay in business is a mystery without desirable stuff to buy. They're old and no longer seem to give a damn. I find it remarkable that they stay in business. Not worth the trip.

I was instantly hit with Americana as the doors spread open for me. No need to trouble yourself with pushing a door American, here let me automatically open for you. Star! Since the owner was clearly using her consumer... ahem marketing skills, the first sight upon entering was a stock pile of Stars & Stripes regalia. All that was needed was the Star Spangled Banner playing in the background. Independence Day is only a few days away, so stock up. Martha's Backyard which of course is a play on words, (think Martha's Vineyard) has many American culinary favorites from candies, seasonings, sauces, cereals, beverages and snacks. I walked out with Cholula, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, a pack of Lawry's Taco seasoning, mini Butterfingers and 2 boxes of Cap'N Crunch cereal for under $40.00. Not a bad price for imported happiness.
