Finding the right senior living community isn't just about amenities; it's about how a place…read moreactually feels and who you're trusting, every single day, with someone you love. I've spent time at Belmont Village Sunnyvale through a professional partnership. I've come to understand this community's standard of care through working alongside them. What stands out most is the team. There's a calmness and presence in how they carry themselves. The staff who know their residents, take the time to connect, and genuinely care in a way that's not forced. You feel it in the small, everyday moments. From a working relationship standpoint, they are organized, communicative, and reliable. And just as important, they don't shy away from challenges. When something doesn't go as planned, they address it directly and work through it thoughtfully with a level of maturity that reinforces trust and respect. At the end of the day, you're not just choosing a place, you're choosing people. And this is a team you can trust to show up, do the right thing, and care in a way that truly matters.

If I could give minus stars I would. It's been a decade since my dear dad was a short time resident…read moreat Belmont Village. He had early onset Alzheimer's and went into memory care but we quickly realized that he was growing depressed and bored. So as long as a family member was present, he was able to join the assisted living group in their activities. It was okay at first. Myself, my husband and when my mom felt well enough, one of us was there from 10 to 4 to be able to have dad engaged. Soon that became an issue with toileting and he needed help being fed. They couldn't have us feeding him in the front dining room, it didn't look good on the fancy wrapped paper they presented themselves as. So he had to go eat in memory care with mush food, he didn't like and being fed fast because there was all of them to fed and not enough staff. He kept falling out of bed, his supply of wipes and diapers disappeared a few times from was a staff locked closet in his room. He started getting rashes from them not changing him, he wasn't being bathed. I got an order to stop a medication from his doctor that came to him at Belmont . The doctor handed the and their form filled out to stop his RX, they said they would dispose of his medication and put that in his chart. His pills were 90 days at a time and probably half left. He also wrote an RX for podiatry to come in to trim his nails. About two weeks rolled by and still no podiatry. Another week rolled by still no podiatry and id been asking. Always told the next day. Dads rashes got worse and I was noticing that the plates and forks and cups didn't seem clean. Final straw the Head med tech came up and told me dad needed a refill on the medication his doctor discontinued FOUR weeks prior. I called the county to report this and a few other things. They came out unannounced and blended in and saw their own extra things and sited them. I was only privy to what pretained to dad. So not changing him and bathing him caused skin rash and breakdown, not getting podiatry and for continuing a medication they were ordered to stop. Also for no hot water and that had been a thing for more then just the day the inspector came out. My heart breaks when I see these beautiful buildings, fancy and looking like a 5 star hotel. Knowing the majority are a motel 8 at nest on the inside. I moved him to a board and care gone where he was treated with love, dignity and respect. Bathed daily, more if needed..changed when needed. His skin healed, he always had a full belly at the table with everyone even though he had to be fed. None of his belongings disappeared and doctors orders were followed to a T. He died there, being loved and cared for from the moment he arrived til he left us. Pretty wrapped boxes means nothing. It is what's inside. Don't schedule appointments , drop in first thing in the morning, look around, smell the air, ask to go to memory care . It's more then likely tucked way in the back so nobody sees them, they are still human beings and deserve so much more. My daughter was young then, but saw the way change needed to happen and for the last 6 years she has worked in senior living. Her building isn't wrapped pretty, it's not for profit. But the love and caring and happiness inside is more beautiful then any wrapped up with a shiney bow places like Belmont look from the outside. A decade later thinking that I put him there breaks my heart. He deserved so much better.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sunnyside Gardens. My dad spent some time there, and…read moreevery aspect of his care was absolutely top-notch. From the compassionate and attentive staff to the warm and welcoming environment, this facility truly felt like home for him. The caregivers went above and beyond to ensure his comfort, well-being, and dignity. They treated him like family, always engaging with him and making sure his needs were met. The medical team was knowledgeable and proactive, providing excellent communication and peace of mind. I want to especially mention Yazmin, Rajinder, Ed, Brisa and Karen. But all staff were great. I had several interactions with the cleaning and kitchen teams. They were highly professional and supportive. They were great at letting me know what was going on with my dad and making sure he was taken by ambulance to the hospital when necessary. They also provided a lot of valuable advice to me on his care/doctors including recommending a hospice provider when that time came. The driver, Ed, even visited my dad at the hospital several times while he was there. The facility itself is beautifully maintained, clean, and inviting. Each room has a private bathroom and patio. The meals were nutritious and delicious, and there were always engaging activities to keep residents active and social. The staff does their best to get residents to participate. It was comforting to know that my dad was in such good hands, surrounded by people who genuinely cared for him. I am forever grateful for the kindness and dedication of everyone at Sunnyside Gardens. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will receive the best possible care, this is it. I wholeheartedly recommend them without hesitation!

Since day one, Sunnyside has welcomed us with kindness and compassion. Their entire staff from the executive director to the caregivers, activity leaders, and the kitchen staff - truly everyone - have all been professional, responsive, patient, and compassionate with our family and my mother who suffers from a chronic neurological disease. The rooms are spacious, and each room has a patio and a private bathroom. Both the food and activities are customized to patients' needs. Sunnyside Gardens is truly helping mom to "bloom". We give our highest recommendation to this wonderful facility.

Yes, it's a big corporation but the service levels are individual. I want to particularly call out the Reminiscence neighborhood/Memory Care and the team that works there. The residents are cared for but still treated as individuals who have capacity. It is a cheerful and sunny environment and the staff is supportive of families as well as residents . The Activities coordinator and the wellness team and the team in Reminiscence really go out of their way to support the residents and their families as well. It is easy to be overwhelmed with caregiving and it has been a relief to feel confident that my loved one is well looked after.

This is a residential care home that doubles as a wonderful haven for women needing assistance…read more Emmy Ng is the owner of this amazing home. She is well versed in all areas of geriatric care and I simply am in awe of her devotion to each resident in her wonderful homes. She has created an oasis. I recommend her homes highly. You will not be surprised that she has a wait list. I cannot recommend her homes highly enough - she is a true advocate and friend to her fortunate residents.

(Please read my prior Yelp review, posted 11/24/2015)…read more I want to update my prior review of At Home Senior Living, Emmy Ng, RN, owner/manager, giving it the highest possible rating!!! My mom lived there for the better part of two and a half years, and recently passed away. Everything I wrote in 2015 remained true throughout our stay, once again speaking to the consistency of high-quality care over the years at this home. AHSL is truly unique, clearly and without a doubt the best residential care home you will find. Here are some additional thoughts after our years there. I was advised by a range of people not to move my mom from her then current living situation, and I was scared to do it! But AHSL defies that conventional (and I believe, flawed) wisdom by implementing strategies that make the transition very doable. Emmy had a variety of ideas for improving medications, diet, social interactions, etc. that gave my mom a real lift after the move. And as my mom aged, Emmy and her staff adjusted and responded to my mom's declining abilities with smart personal care strategies and joyful, customized events, so that my mom continued to feel part of the community in very special ways. This is the "icing on the cake" type of care that elevates this home above other options. It meant that my mom felt included and worthwhile, the key to her happiness during her elder years. Emmy is an excellent communicator. She uses email, texting, phone, and of course in-person discussion to keep her families (and their health care providers) fully informed. I live locally, but I talked with family members who lived as far away as Washington State and they were so complimentary about this aspect of AHSL. Emmy answered all of my inquiries, followed up on issues, and kept me plugged in to my mom's care. I always felt Emmy's expert presence, even when she wasn't in the building! This was SO important to me, particularly after struggling with the dismal communication at assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. While Emmy can't guarantee that her residents will not need hospitalization and/or skilled nursing, I figured that our best chance of avoiding the stress and deficiencies of those institutions would be At Home, and I am thrilled to report that such was the case. My mom was able to remain in place when the rapid decline came at the end, sleeping comfortably in her own bed, with the expert support of Emmy, her amazingly thoughtful staff, Dr. David Jones at the helm, with hospice nurses, and me by my mom's side. As sad as I felt that final day, a nearly 100 year life doesn't wind down any better than that. I know how challenging this responsibility can be, and I wish everyone out there the best possible outcome for your own loved ones, and for yourself! I consider moving my mom to At Home Senior Living the best decision I made for her, bar none!!!

While she was very reluctant to move, her comment about Sunny View was that it felt more like a home than an institution. Her initial instinct has proved to be spot on. Unlike some of the other places they visited, they have always been treated as individuals deserving of understanding and compassion. Our family was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the staff responded to the needs of my parents as they made the very difficult transition of moving from their home of 45 years to a two bedroom apartment (villa). All the different areas (marketing, maintenance, housekeeping, food services, nursing staff) went way beyond what was expected to help them settle in and become part of the community. We even had some unexpected challenges that the staff addressed with kindness and much patience. In addition, the staff seem to communicate well with each other. While the grounds are beautiful (mature trees and multiple garden areas) and there are some new features including an aviary in the Assisted Living area, it is the people that make the difference. Not only have the staff been very respectful and kind, but the residents were very welcoming to my folks. I'm very comfortable knowing that my elderly parents are surrounded by loving people.
