Worst dating scam ever. I booked an appointment and showed up in the 3080 Yonge St office. The office is in a long empty hallway that has nothing registered that shows this is a legit business, nor any licences displayed. Right off the bat you get paired up with a total stranger that claim's she s a relationship consultant (with no real credentials, I asked her for some, she said she had a masters in counselling but failed to even show me a business card let alone a certificate). Then the lady started asking me all kinds of deeply personal questions about my past, the relationships I've had, my employment. Then within 20 minutes, I filled out some questionnaires. I was not even finished with the registration yet and interviewer said "Don't worry about it. We just need your credit card and here are the packages you can buy." And the cheapest prices were well into the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. I politely stated I needed some time to think about the offers, and the interviewer said "If you walk out, you will never do business with us again," and suddenly got all hostile and bullied me. So I walked out and decided to look at some reviews. I found a situation where they took advantage of a lawyer that was well to do and making 300k a year. They charged her 30k for 5 dates and she only saw 2 men, claiming life mates were terribly slow with their service and that the men were nothing what she requested for. She tried to get her money back and life mates ignored her claiming her 6 months was up (saying "it's 6 months or 5 dates"). She had no time to sue them as she was so busy with her job. After a year had past she was still trying to figure out a way to get her money back. It sounds like this "company" just charges anyone that has a job and takes advantage of the fact that they have money, and are lonely. They use all kinds of schemes like "You might miss your last chance in your life." Or if you are younger they prey on the fact that you have no experience so you better get into the dating scene or you will be left behind... etc. There's always ways for them to scare you. Anyway, I can't believe they are still in business and I have read over 50 reviews now and I still haven't heard of one verifiable success story. The numbers don't lie. I came down to see if they could help me out. Meet a nice lady but after responding to the personal questions an showing my ID and card. When it came to picking a plan or telling more about it. they would not tell me anything unless I could commit. Sorry but after learning from reviews on line I don't commit to a large sum($2500.00 +). She would not say a word. I called back she was not in the office. Talked to someone else's and asked about the prices and they did not know anything. I don't know if I would go till I know more information on the plans. read more

Scam. Bought a lifetime membership and got three referrals. Never heard from them again. All truckers and factory workers and just not even close to what I wanted despite being assured I would meet similarly educated professionals. They block your number and don't return calls once you sign a contract. And our government does nothing. Absolutely zero consumer protection in this country. A few years ago I tried the service and was very disappointed. You have to go through an interview process basically so they can find out how much you money make. Is there such a thing as a zero start rating. I actually filed a complaint with the BBB about this company. They get you to sign an iron clad, fine printing agreement but the truth is as soon as you do that service goes out the window and it is clear they have no decent database of people. DON'T SIGN UP!! I had the unfortunate experience of signing up for LifeMates Canada. After a lengthy intake process (by which I mean the person I dealt with had two of us going at a time in two separate rooms), I was advised that indeed LifeMates had many men who would "fit the bill" with regard to what I was looking for. I was advised that LifeMates was nothing like services such as It's Just Lunch...they were far more professional, personal and in this industry to really help people meet. After having all my questions answered, I decided to pay the significant fee and join. I had been dating for almost five years at that point and had tried It's Just Lunch and a variety of dating websites. I've met some great people through these avenues but just not the "right" one. Being a busy professional, I wanted help and bought into the pitch that LifeMates had many professional men who just couldn't go on an internet dating site. The first person I was referred to advised me he actually hadn't dated anyone from LifeMates since 2009 and that he wasn't all that interested. Needless to say I never heard from him again. The second person I was referred to could not manage to live up to a date that he committed to. He changed our meeting at least three times and I finally gave up. If it was going to be that difficult to have a date and this was his best foot forward, well, no thanks. The third person I was referred to was endlessly travelling, or so he said. First he was away on a business trip; I finally followed up with him after two weeks (he said he was going to be away for one), and lo and behold he found he was away travelling even longer. Then when I suggested we get together, well, he was going on vacation and he'd call me when he got back. Of course I never heard from him ever again. The fourth, and last, person I was referred to called me. We had a lovely conversation but he said he was on his way to a client's, and could he call me right back? Of course I say. He was never heard from again. I am a successful business woman who has never encountered anything like this - ever - in my entire life. I well understand that one will run into duds, for lack of a better word, in the dating game. But never, ever have I experienced so many ghosts. I wondered, do these people even exist? LifeMates claims that customer satisfaction is their number one priority. If that is so, why has no one from LifeMates responded to any of my emails of concern, or been willing to speak with me on the phone (and I mean someone with authority), or respond to the demand letter I ultimately sent out of utter frustration because LifeMates does not care about my customer experience...or else there is some more troubling reason. Looks like the only way I'll hear from LifeMates is to get them into court. Dating is a time consuming and often stressful experience, especially when you're speaking or meeting someone for the first time. It requires a lot of energy. I turned to LifeMates because of their advertising, their promises made to me, and I believed them when they said they were the number one matchmaking service. Do yourself a favour and save your money - LifeMates certainly has not delivered on any of their promises and representations to me. read more

Warning! Stay away!! They do NOT have enough members to get you your 10 dates!! Like so many other reviewers, I too had an issue getting pricing information until AFTER I had agreed to join. More than the initial interview, however, it is the service once you've joined that is horrific. After about 4 dates, which by the way, were not good matches, the phone calls with more matches began to fade. After 3 months of silence from Lifemates, I contacted them to ask about my next match. Shortly after my email, they called me with a match, which turned out to be someone who had just joined and was by no means an appropriate match. It has been 14 months and I have had 5 dates with poor matches. Really?? Ladies, Lifemates is a waste of $3000. read more

It is a business based on fraud, they make you to sign a paper based on their force sales strategies. They call you and tell you some random girl's name and ask for your opinion about her, if you accept the date, they claim they need to call her and see if she also accept it, couple of days later they call and say the other person rejected you. When it happens four or five times they you would realize how stupid it was to trust them at the first place. Go for real people that at least you can see their face when they reject you not some hypothetical girl. read more

tl;dr If you signed up with Lifemates and set up monthly credit card payments your credit card company can cease the charges and maybe get you a partial refund! I signed up for Lifemates almost a year ago. It was ridiculously expensive but I've been so frustrated with dating that I figured why not let some "professionals" have a go at it. In the first couple months I received two matches, one with whom I was very explicitly not suitable (he wanted kids ASAP, I don't want kids at all) and one who literally lived in a different city. That was in January. Since then it's been silence. I would occasionally call and leave a message but I never heard anything back. I tried calling earlier today and I couldn't even leave a message anymore, their voicemail was full. Curious, I called the property manager of 3080 Yonge St. It turns out they haven't been in the building since March. That is 6 - 7 months they haven't had a presence in my city, yet I've still been charged monthly fees. The silver lining is that my credit card company is fantastic and was able to not only cancel future charges but also refund the last 4 or 5 payments. I'll have still lost around $1000 but it could be worse. I don't usually feel passionate enough about my consumer experiences to leave Yelp reviews but just maybe this can help someone. If you're in the same boat as me talk to your credit card company! Hopefully their claims department will be as helpful as mine, if not more so. read more
