A bustling wee charity shop that reminds me of the Goodwill, Lifeline on Gorgie Road supports a charity that I've never heard of, but is nevertheless extremely important.
It supports people who are pregnant by providing a counselling service amongst other things. My friends are now of the age where they are popping out some babies and I've got to say, pregnancy is so terrifying! So much can go wrong! They are total troopers for coping with it the way they do (especially my mate who is currently pregnant through this humid spell) but organisations like this are vital for women and their supporting families who need to use them.

Now, the majority of shops are modelled like retail clothing stores, which is great because the companies take pride in how they look, but sometimes it's nice to have a raid around a cave like this. Not that they don't take pride in it, but this place feels more like a treasure trove than anything else.
It's small rather than being super messy, and certainly the volunteers seem to try and keep their stock as orderly as possible. But because of its size, it does feel like you're raking for buried treasure - which is not a bad thing. Some treats are to be found, and for a worthy cause! read more
