We were referred to Maria-Paula directly by our GI doctor when our kiddo received a feeding port. We were extremely nervous at the thought of him possibly needing it forever, but our doctor reassured us that Maria-Paula was the best in the metroplex, and he was absolutely right. Even though she doesn't take our insurance, she has been worth every single penny. From day one, she has kept the goal of transitioning from the food port to full oral intake front and center. She collaborates with our food therapist to set realistic, supportive goals that focus on giving our child the nutrition he needs to eventually no longer rely on the button. She is also incredibly available. Whether it's after appointments or when sudden diet changes or illness affect his intake, she always makes time to answer our questions. I don't think I've ever worked with someone more thorough during appointments. She explains every detail, and she truly listens. She brainstorms with us when we mention challenges like timing, routines, or our child's rigidity around food. Under her nutritional guidance, our kiddo has grown so much since getting the port and being under her guidance nutrition wise. It's easy to forget how much good nutrition can impact behavior, mood, and overall well-being until you see it firsthand. Another huge bonus is that my child usually dislikes medical appointments and struggles with clinical environments, but he loves Maria Paula. If I tell him we're going to see her, he actually gets excited. She even taught him to take off his shoes before weighing, and now he proudly tells every nurse, "We have to take our shoes off like at Maria-Paula's!" She has such a gift with young kids and kids on the spectrum. I truly cannot recommend her enough. She has changed the way we approach feeding, nutrition, and growth, and she has made an overwhelming journey feel hopeful. Maria-Paula is exceptional. read more

I am a woman in my late 50's that decided to make some lifestyle changes in the way I eat and exercise. This was a decision that was not made due to a health issue, but a choice to eat and feel better as I age. A relative shared their experience with me of seeing a nutritionist and this seemed like a direction that I wanted to go. I did my research and decided to go see Maria-Paula Carrillo with LifeCycle Nutrition. My goals were to relearn to eat healthy by making intentional decisions of the food I consume each day and to include a daily exercise program. Weight loss would be an additional bonus. I started this journey at the end of September, 2018. Maria has been a wonderful teacher and very patient with explaining everything I need to know in making my daily food decisions. The thing I have liked the most is that she has not told me what to eat each meal, instead she has provided me with valuable information so that I can make my own nutritional decisions on this life style change. After 3 months I can say I have already exceeded my goals of feeling so much better and have lost weight and added muscle. read more

Maria Paula has been wonderful to work with. She is very knowledgeable and listened to my concerns regarding my daughters feeding issues. (My Daughter was born with Congenital heart defect and has a G-Tube placed since she was 4 weeks old.) She did routine follow ups and provided an updated nutrition plan as needed. She always has lot of different nutritional drink samples and gave them to us to try. (my daughter developed oral aversion to formula due to her g-tube). My daughter has been gaining weight consistently and we no longer have the feeding issues. We are at a point that we can wean her off the feeding tube. I would highly recommend Maria Paula as a Pediatric Nutritionist for any kids struggling to eat orally, gaining weight or weaning of the feeding tube. The nutrition plans that she provides are easy to follow and easy to manage. Most of the plans are based on the food that we can busy easily from the grocery store and can be consumed by the entire family. My daughter would not have been where she is today in terms of her healthy weight gain without Maria Paula's continuous guidance. read more

I stumbled a bit the last few weeks, but I'm making progress -- weight is down I was healed and delivered of Crohn's Disease in 2005. Now, Maria-Paula Carrillo with LifeCycle Nutrition is helping me reestablish healthy nutrition goals tailored for MY body. She actually specializes in nutrition for GI clients. It has been a challenge since 2005 and resection surgery to eat what everyone else considers "healthy" --most veggies & fruit, as Crohn's patients have many painful flares and tend to eat a high carb diet. As I get older, I understand I can't continue to eat all those carbs. I'm learning that every fad diet or lose-weight-quick regime isn't the best or healthiest way to accomplish weight loss goals. Steady wins! I don't want to be skinny fat with no muscle, nor do I want to be a big dough girl-- just want to be a healthy ME! Knowing what I can and can not eat is important. What's even more important is breaking old habits and developing a healthy mindset to make better decisions. Thanks, Maria! read more

Maria-Paula Carrillo is caring, attentive, personable, and has made a huge difference for good in our lives! One of her many areas of expertise is with tube-feeding. She went to the trouble of researching and finding a formula that meets my son's specific needs. Prior to seeing Maria-Paula, my son had intense pain associated with post-gallbladder-surgery challenges in processing the high fat content of almost all tube-feeding formulas. For months I had been preparing his food in a blender, and even with feeding him almost every hour, I couldn't keep weight on him. Maria-Paula found a newer organic formula that is much lower in fat. She went to the trouble of getting samples for us to try. The new formula is helping my son put on some much-needed pounds without the accompanying pain of the other formulas. Also, this food she found for us can be administered through his feeding pump - so I'm not needing to feed him so often during the day! Maria-Paula is our hero!! read more

Maria-Paula has been so important to me this year! I went to her and told her my concerns about food and fitness. Not only did she direct me down the right path with nutrition, but she also listened to my fitness likes and dislikes and recommended a program that has kept me on track. Maria-Paula doesn't just hand you a nutrition plan. She teaches you the basics of what our bodies need to perform at their peak. This foundation helps me make decisions for all of my nutrition. She also asks what you like to eat and how you can either alter or make a better choice. I can keep a lot of my favorite meals in rotation but alter so it fits within my plan. Not every meeting with Maria-Paula is an hour-long learning session. I'm about to go into her office for 20 minutes once a month to check my progress, provide any feedback, and get my questions answered. It's all so flexible! read more

I have been working with Maria-Paula for almost 2 years now. I first went to her for advice on how to cut some body fat before starting to train for a marathon. Then, I kept going back all through marathon training and then through 50K training and racing as well. Her nutrition advice and strategies helped me lose the body fat before my races, so I was leaner than I would've been, and was well fueled through each race. I continue to work with Maria-Paula, to check in and check my progress on a somewhat regular basis. I highly recommend her for athletes looking to properly fuel for events, but also for anyone looking to eat healthier, lose some body fat, change their body composition, or even just their change their relationship with food. read more

We've been a client of LifeCycle Nutrition for more than a year. Thanks to Maria-Paula's guidance and professionalism, our toddler is back on the growth charts and steadily gaining weight! Maria-Paula made the greatest impact on our daughter's nutrition by helping us identify meal options compatible with her various food allergies and referred us to specialists as needed. At each consultation, she educates us on growth statistics and what to look for in between visits. Her office space is welcoming and child-friendly. As working parents, Maria-Paula was flexible with scheduling and was always available to talk outside of appointments. I highly recommend her services! read more

My son was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and has a gtube. I searched high and low for a dietitian, and Maria-Paula was recommended to me by another CDH mom. We connected over the phone about my son's specific medical needs and I knew it was a good fit! She not only took the time to hear about our story and learn about Judah, but she listened to my intuition. We were able to minimize his severe reflux. He now holds down his feeds 95% of the time and is gaining weight at a healthy and steady rate. If your child has special medical needs, you need to give LifeCycle Nutrition a call because they will be one of your best partners for your child's health! read more

Maria-Paula has been fantastic to work with over the past couple months. My husband and I both see her for our general dietary health but also to meet specific goals. She is non-judgmental and meets clients where they are at on their journey. You walk away with a clear picture of your current status and what you need to do moving forward. I appreciate that she doesn't require weekly check-ins for success and is available in between appointments to answer questions if need be. She has a great sense of humor and uplifting personality as well. read more

Maria-Paula has been a huge help in my journey to get fit, lose weight and learn to eat. From our first meeting to now,9 months later, she is enthusiastic about her craft and loves teaching. She is great about listening to what I struggle with and gives me options that fit my lifestyle. That is the key...she learns what you like to eat, why you like to eat it, understand your goals and then allows you to self discover. Of course I recommend going to her, but be honest with yourself and her so she can benefit you. read more
