So I am here at the pool now, and an instructor told me I need to get out of the pool because they are having a class. I am a paying member and sitting off to the side. He complained to management, who said it was ok to stay where I am. The instructor then gets on the microphone and says I apologize for the black person in the back that won't move. I pay for the gym like everyone else and was not disturbing the class. I pay for the gym and tye pool membership and him forcing me out is in consideration when I am not interrupting in any way and did not know the class was going to happen. For him to call me out on the mic to try to embarrass me for sitting on the side was nasty and disrespectful. Especially while other individuals are in the pool watching and not participating. This way a very highly racist and disrespectful display for the gym. And I've been a member and never experienced this.. I have photos and video too. Thank god for the actual gym staff who were very respectful and understanding. This instructor need training on respect and how to talk to members. No matter there complexion or status.

This lifetime is truly one of the most luxurious gyms in NYC or really anywhere. I can't remember the last time I've been in a locker room as nice the one here. One of the big reasons I signed up for a membership here was for their renowned basketball court which is newly renovated and great for pickup games or just to shoot around. The weight and cardio machines are super high tech and advanced- I've never seen anything like some of them. The weight floor is a bit smaller than I would have hoped but they have almost everything you need. I really hope they add a T bench for tricep extensions and one of those padded things to rest your ankle on while doing Bulgarian split squats. As a swimmer I was also disappointed to find out the length of the pool is way shorter than a standard pool length. It's about 18 meters while a normal pool is 25- this makes it way more difficult to keep track of distance while swimming laps. The #1 best thing about this lifetime is the outdoor rooftop pool which is BEAUTIFUL- great place to relax at all hours of the day.

This is the swankiest, cleanest, and classiest gym I have ever been to. I was just blown away by how pristine everything is. The locker rooms are beautiful and clean, and just showering and pampering in there is really fun! No need to bring your own locks, as there are built-in locks in the lockers, so you can set your own lock combo. The caveat, however, is that the machines and equipments are not as diverse as 24 Hour Fitness (which is known to be the cheapest and dirtiest of all the gym chains). For instance, they didn't have roman chairs, so I had to use a bench as a substitute. It's also really pricey here, but I was able to gain access to the gym as a guest, and I absolutely enjoyed being a guest here! I'm also pleased that even when they called me to ask me if I wanted to sign up for a membership, even when I tried to brush them away by telling them I'm busy, they got straight to the point and just wanted me to give them a simple yes or no if I was interested in a membership. No dragging me along, they simply respected my "No." Yes, respect the no! Their spa, which I'm writing a separate review for, was wonderful and relaxing! Great customer service. If I had the budget and money, sure, I would be more than happy to pay for a membership here!

    Although, nice interior design

Spa was extremely disorganized. Inconsistent esthetician. Mediocre facial. Weird consultation, no introduction when brought to room. Won't be back

Ask the Community - Life Time

How much is the pool? Is there a deal for just the summer?

How hot is the sauna typically? I walked through for a tour around 6pm on a weekday and it was only 169 degrees, which would not be hot enough for me.

Does the outdoor pool cost extra?

The other answer is not true. The pool costs about $1000 extra per summer for a 7 day a week pass, $400 per summer for a Mon-Thurs pass, and $75 dollars for a day pass.

How much for the monthly membership?

I pay $200, some of which is subsidized by a corporate partnership

Anyone know how Much a daily pass is?

    $40 I believe

Can anyone tell me the membership price for this location? I currently have platinum and it's about 100

I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

I visited prior to joining as I have been a member of other prestigious gyms and spas in the past. Equinox has multiple levels of membership, and I recommend the Destination membership. It gives you access to Equinox gyms around the country! This is perfect for individuals who travel for work or leisure. Next, I would like to address the cost of membership. Membership will cost between $300-$400 per month. At first you may think, 'wow, this is expensive.' However, I did an analysis of multiple gyms! Let's examine the cost of other NYC hot spots. Other gyms offer power lifting as a main source of workout and charge over $200 per month. Some pilates studios offer training classes for approximately $180 per month. There are yoga studios across New York that average $169-$200 a month. There are gyms centered around group classes that cost an average of $220-275 per month. Swim club fitness average $180-250 per month. If you joined multiple gyms to meet your fitness needs, you would be spending over $1000 per month. WOW. This is why I joined Equinox! Your membership includes weight lifting options, cycle fit classes, yoga classes, pilates classes, core strengthing classes, HIIT training, persoal training, nutrition coaching, massage therapy from licensed massage therapists, an AMAZING spa, ViPR--an incredible workout that engages your core, improves flexibility, and builds strength and power! (Its wonderful). Furthermore, this location has a beautiful pool with city views! You can lap swim, take swimming classes, and have personal swim coaching. Equinox is a powerful place to be a part of. 160 Columbus even has an outdoor track with beautiful views of the City as you improve your cardio strength and endurance. Furthermore, the gym has a boxing arena/room! I can not think of a better place to be a part of a gym that offers 10 gym services all in one place! There is nothing that beats the quality of this type of membership. $1000 or $300-400 for all of your fitness needs. You decide! I LOVE Equinox at 160 Columbus Ave. The vibe is laid back yet professional and courteous. The concierge offers excellent services. I highly recommend Equinox. PM me, and I would be happy to give you a referral! There is a current incentive that you do not want to miss if you want to join Equinox! I can't wait to hear from you if you have questions about Equinox. Join. Strengthen. Enjoy! Tell Equinox, Lauren Lindsay sent you! I had a minor issue with one of the workers, and instead of handling it professionally, GM Joseph Cloonan came up to me inside the men's locker room while I was not dressed. I asked him multiple times to please wait outside the locker room until I was dressed and told him I would speak with him outside. He refused and continued following me around the locker room, including while I was changing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and left the gym right away because I wanted to escalate and report what happened. About an hour later, I received a call saying I was banned from Equinox for life for allegedly violating the Mutual Respect Policy. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact Equinox corporate, Equinox HR, and Equinox legal. I have also tried dealing with club directors Allison Neimi and Emma Marr, but they refused to take a phone call from me, refused to let me explain what happened, and refused to provide any meaningful escalation contact. I am now filing a civil claim and complaints with the New York State Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, and any other appropriate agency. Worth noting, Equinox has already faced serious consumer-protection scrutiny. In 2025, the New York Attorney General announced a $600,000 settlement with Equinox over membership and cancellation practices, including allegations that Equinox failed to clearly disclose subscription terms and failed to provide easy online cancellation options. In my opinion, this club handled the situation terribly. I was followed around a locker room while undressed, banned shortly after, and then ignored when I tried to report what happened through the proper channels.

The spa is also accessible from this second level, however there was one entry that didn't permit members which was a little frustrating. I'm not a hardcore workout enthusiast, so I cannot go on about equipment, etc. However, the treadmills and stretching areas were fine, so I won't complain about any of that. Since there was a great shower upstairs, I didn't use the ones in the locker rooms. This location is a Destination one, and that breaks down into whether you are grandfathered in, or if your membership states 'Destination HY' if you've joined after a certain time since Equinox changes the names of the membership tiers ever so slightly (especially the cost difference). Some of the staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave us a thorough and in-depth description of all the membership services and fees for ping pong games/coaching. The actual tables are professional-grade, and there are actually plenty of them spread throughout an enormous indoor facility. I liked the feel of the high ceilings while I played (or at least ATTEMPTED to play haha). Even though this place was popular on a weeknight around 7-8pm, the size of the facility didn't make me feel cramped. Checking out the rest of NYISC, I saw an indoor soccer field - which is a rare sight in a place such as Flushing. I don't play soccer, but I would recommend this space for soccer teams and friends looking to play a match or serious game. My boyfriend and I also wandered to the 'Pro Shop' in the sports club. They sold all different professional ping pong products from brands such as Butterfly (famous ping pong product manufacturer). We didn't purchase anything, but I did sign up for private lessons with one of the renowned & accomplished coaches. The pricing was for a set of 10 lessons and were more than affordable. The coaches were all world ranked, and have competed in Olympics, etc. Maybe one day I'll be able to at least keep up in a game with my boyfriend, lol.
