They call constantly, trying to push us into meeting with their "fitness manager," which is just a sales trap for outrageously overpriced personal training sessions nobody asked for. It feels less like a gym and more like a telemarketer with dumbbells. The place is filthy. My boyfriend used the men's showers one time and will never do it again. He said the floors were covered in this greenish slime, slippery even with shower shoes. Health-code-who? The machines aren't much better. One of them literally loosens the pin while you use it, so you're constantly resetting it unless you want to get launched into orbit. (If I wanted a surprise flight, I'd at least book Delta. That's the joke. Don't hurt me.) On top of that, their "cheap" membership isn't actually cheap. You can't sign up for the basic tier without paying over $100 in fees, BUT during the trial they'll happily steer you into the $30/month plan because that one has no sign-up fees. Classic bait-and-switch. Their class schedule is a joke unless you're unemployed or live in a different time dimension. Almost everything is during normal work hours. And the massage chairs they brag about? They're basically mall massage chairs someone threw a purple LED on. If you only need a place to swipe in and lift some weights, and you don't mind grime, upsells, or random mechanical hazards, then maybe it's worth it. For anyone expecting something clean, honest, or remotely professional... absolutely not.

So happy to sign you up, so happy to give you promised, so happy to take your money... Gotcha... then screw you. We were told that if we were to move that our membership could easily be cancelled... Well the happy, let me sign you up kid,,,,, no longer works there, and now we find out that no one will stand behind what we were told, which was part of the reason we joined. This gym has to break all health standards also... did I say they are filthy and disgusting? THEY ARE..... I hired a trainer and she was awesome, but had to deal with crap as an employee... glad she went elsewhere. THIS PLACE SUCKS. THE OWNERS SUCK! CRUSH OR IAC... I called to complain that I've been paying for a gym that I don't even go to under the premise that I was under contract. JJ @ the Nampa location was so rude, he told me that he was "taking time out of his day to help me." Then got snarky with me, and told me to have a nice day. That's interesting well, since JJ works at there, isn't he SUPPOSED to help customers?? a I'd recommend Johnny's Fit Club (my new gym- I've been with them since June). I have NEVER had an issue. They're affordable, and offer affordable personal trainers. 24hr Gym access, tanning, and a smoothie bar, and cheap daycare. Doesn't get much better than that. Seriously, Screw Idaho Athletic Club. They're LIARS!

The slide isn't always staffed, but when it is, it's super fun... even as a grown up :-) They have a rock wall, track for walking/running, and offer fitness classes. My mom likes doing the circuit of machines up in the weight lifting area. There's lots of cardio equipment. I usually prefer the free weights and non-circuit resistance machines for my workouts, and I've found everything I needed at this YMCA. Staff and members are all friendly, and I've never felt uncomfortable working out here. Sometimes you end up weighting for weights or machines, especially during peak times, but that's pretty much how it goes at any gym. Membership is $50/month for one person, or I believe $80/month for two, so a bit of savings. Considering everything you have access to with a membership, it's honestly not a bad deal. I have paid as much or more for gyms with way fewer amenities, let alone for a yoga or pilates studio. Definitely a good option.

I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

As a recent transplant I have gone to most every gym around the area and this is the one that I have chosen to join. It is a kettlebell gym (as you can tell by the name) and I love them as a training tool. Most of the good effects of barbells with little of the risk, and some specific properties that make them fun, effective, exciting and interesting. Jim is a conscientious and intelligent trainer who will make sure you are training properly and safely. In addition the classes are very small so it is like getting personal training for a fraction of the price. I believe Jim also offers Personal Training if you want personalized instruction. The location is convenient near the intersection of 44 and 55 right off of downtown Eagle. Plenty of parking. Space is clean, well organized and has all of the equipment you need to lose weight, gain muscle, improve athletic performance, look good naked, etc. The people are freindly and it is a non-intimidating enviroment that I pleased to be a member of.

I hadn't trained using kettlebells before and I couldn't imagine training without them now! Jim is very knowledgeable, encouraging, and overall a great trainer. The training he provides is very personalized, his class sizes are small which enables him to provide very focused and dedicated training. I genuinely look forward to training every day. The gym environment along with the transformation I have seen and feel are what motivates me to continue training there.
