A neat and hip canal-side cafe and cocktail den in Navigli serving up imaginative sips and tasty,…read morecomplimentary snacks. Look up any recommendation list, and this one always makes it to the top. A visit here wouldn't be one unless you're sitting outside to experience the sights and sounds of the canal neighborhood. It almost had an Amsterdam red light district vibe to it.
The menu was like a very illustrative sci-fi magazine with accurate depictions of your choice drink's glass receptacle along with a sliding bar indicating its alcohol content. Having just spent some time waiting in line at the one toilet inside (a major flaw), I quickly glanced through the menu and landed on the Mag Cake which, upon first look, seemed to be a "Freak Out Version" of an Old Fashioned with gelato-like flavors. The server did warn me that this was a literal cake on a biscotto, to which I said "why not?". A mistake, in the end, because the boozy cake, served on a hilariously small table, was just an expensive cake that didn't really satisfy much. The drink was a veritable troll. Which was hilarious, in truth. While I was amused by my drink choice -- while sampling some of the best green olives as their free table snack -- you might not be as much, so as long as you avoid the Mag Cake, which isn't hard with their vast listing of cocktails, then you should be a happy camper at what is definitely a very unique cocktail bar.
