There are some 14 stores in Spain operated by their local partner (Overseas Imports S.L.). They also sell products from Waitrose, another British retailer. The concept is quite unique. Almost all food and drinks are imported to Spain from the UK (including bread, milk, soft drinks etc) while other foreign retailers in Spain carry a mix of mostly local Spanish food and some imported food (French Carrefour, German LIDL and Aldi). Iceland is different, it serves real fans who prefer frozen food from the UK over the fresh food grown in Spain :) I found a frozen paella (manufactured in Spain), it probably traveled from Spain to the UK and back! The store in Torrevieja opened in 2008. All staff is English and they are always polite and helpful. The store is kept in good order. There's a small cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The location serves as a networking point for expats. There's an "Hablamos Español" announcement at entrance, looks like they want to attract more Spanish customers. I shop here from time to time and I personally recommend beers and frozen desserts. Frozen ready meals are great too if you want to stock up some food to avoid frequent visits to food stores. If you never visited Iceland - you really should, after all this is the only place in Spain where "Diet Coke" is "Diet Coke" not "Coca Cola Light" :) It was fun to find out recently: Iceland the retailer operates three supermarkets in Iceland the country (since 2012).

Lots of new customers came and I'm sure many will keep shopping here. Awesome meat, bakery and wine sections. Most products looks unsual and different, fan to explore. Jamón is 100% better than in Mercadona and is a bit cheaper. Mercadona is reopened now but I will visit Manper again. Regularly. Recommended.

Unlucky me :) Got a loyalty card a few months ago but haven't used it until today (kept in car always). The products and prices are similar to what you find in other food shops but there are some differences and it was a real fun to explore those differences tonight. If you are a frequent visitor to Mercadona or Lidl like me, visit Consum once in a while even if it takes a bit of extra driving. I felt like I went abroad today - different brands, store brands, packaging design, even fruits and vegs seem to be different... Polite staff will greet you and ask you if you need assistance (unusual in Spain). This shop will make you want to move to Quesada, seriosely. Will be back 100%.

I couldn't believe it was not there anymore, asked the staff but nobody seemed to know. A must, must have item to stock in Spain for locals and tourists alike. Bring it back! 2) Where did you guys find the jamón you're selling? Is it made in Germany? You could sure find a better supplier! Too much fat and it doesn't taste like it should. Mercadona beats you in this category 200%. Spain wouldn't be Spain without these two products, "verstehst du"? That said, Lidl is a good store. Despite being much smaller than their Spanish, German and French competitors HiperBer somehow offers similar prices for similar products. They are probably not big enough to have store brands of their own, so they distribute brands like alteza.es in the lower price range. Not sure what Alteza really is (they didn't bother to add an "about" section to thier website) but I believe they are "the store brand for those who can't afford a store brand of thier own". Overall good store, good service, unusual assortment, worth a visit. Awesome for everyone living within walking distance to the store. Great addition to the retail landscape of Torrevieja! P.S. Also they sell beer brewed by a brewer who couldn't afford to hire a €10/hour proofreader to check their packaging copy!!! Isn't that awesome? I'm in! :)))
