They are considered domestic partners. My friend called them and said they had a bank statement with both names on it and they still refused to help. so much for loving and caring service. Should we have propped the body in a corner of his home? They don't value extended families there. As far as their claim about NYS policies. They had a domestic partnership which allows the partner to request cremation. Another funeral home was glad to provide assistance. You look empty most of the time it's amazing you are willing to turn away business. Shame on you for making it harder on a man grieving over the loss of his partner.

We were going to bury my Mom but found out that the plot was full, but they could fit in ashes so we opted for cremation. They will take care of notifying the SSA, order certified Death Certificates, contact the Medical Examiner and arrange for transporting the body and then the remains. I know that this is all standard but it's not something we all do on a regular basis. So it was comforting to walk in and have them be so professional and so accommodating. Walking through the parking lot it started to rain again, one of those slow and musty New York rains that has a certain meanness to it that ya just can't define. And it gave the parking lot an oily greasy look to the blacktop pavement and the street beyond had an unhealthy glow. This young man, three years my junior, brought me eggplant parmesan every week because I told him how much I loved his. He did use three chesses Locatelli Romano, Parmesan and Granna Padanna, delivered hot to my door. He wrote my mother one of the most sincere Get Well letters years ago after she had sustained an injury. To kneel up upon him was about as sad as I've been in a good while, my female friend was flowing like Niagra, not a dry eye in the house, but enough of this. If cremation wasn't my choice, you can be rest assured that I'd be a handsome and proud corpse in any coffin within the walls of this beautiful funeral home, it didn't smack of sadness, the paintings, the six foot oval in wall fish tank, flowing staircases, ornate carpeting. Then to enjoy watching from above ground (maybe below, not completely sure about that just yet) my pictures being fingered and smiled at by my loved ones -- laughing and crying with my favorite music playing throughout. Lots of the Greatful Dead was strumming away with words that glow on this sad evening. My family owns a bunch of plots atop a beautiful hill with a variety of trees and they aren't thrilled of "that crazy cremation idea of yours" anyone wanna buy a grave? I'll hook you up -- but then your stuck with my family for eternity and I can assure you, that probably ain't no picnic. I am beginning to rethink this decision and it's in part due to Branch's modern touch. At 5am one Sunday morning I had to dig that business card out that I have had tucked behind my license for the past three years and called the phone number. The woman that answered the phone sounded as if it was 12 o'clock Sunday afternoon. She assured me that someone would get back to me within the hour. As promised, I received a call from a young man named, Logan. He explained that an associate of his would be by shortly to pick my mom's body up. By 6 AM that Sunday morning, I walked beside the gurney that carried my mom's body out to the van where she would be taken to a safe place until in Logan's care. Logan called again later that morning to assure me that my mom's body was on the way to them. Logan contacted me several more times to keep me abreast of what was going on and what to expect. And reminded me that if I had any questions at all to reach out. Logan basically held my hand throughout the entire process of laying my mom's body to rest. He came to the cemetery said a prayer, read a beautiful poem and made my entire family feel at ease during a very difficult time. I honestly can't thank him enough.

It's been almost two years since my father, A. Webster (April 2024), passed away, and I can still…read morerecall the kindness I was shown while making his arrangements. We had talked in the past about what he thought he wanted, but after a long conversation he decided on a direct burial -- "no fuss, no muss," as he always said. Everyone went out of their way for us. One man in particular -- who himself passed away months later -- made sure the details I provided were perfect. He wore his cap, treated my father with dignity, and was kind enough to place some of my cat's ashes in my father's hands. When I saw my dad two days later, dressed as best as they could in one of his favorite outfits, he looked like he was simply taking a nap. I even made a comment about the florist -- I had asked for one arrangement and they sent something completely wrong, but that was on them, not the funeral home. They closed the lid, and off we went -- just my husband and me in the limo. When we arrived, the Director read a beautiful poem and made sure I was safe walking on the ground, which was still soft from a week of rain. Even on the ride back, he checked on me, got me to chuckle, and made sure I wasn't alone in the heaviness of the moment. When we returned, I handled the last few things that needed to be done. Within a day or two, I had the certificates in hand, and we shook hands. It was perfect. Everyone I've known who has been in their care has been treated personally and with such attention that I am confident, when my time comes, I want them to take care of me as well.
