When I pulled up to this library I was already impressed. It's so spacious with a thought out, functional design that makes sense for a large library. The cafe space is no longer in use by the coffee cafe but this library still has a lot going for it. There are multiple meeting/ community rooms and reading lounges. The children's library is huge and every librarian that I spoke with was so helpful and nice. Desks, tables and armchairs are all over the place. It's wonderful here. read more

My visit started out fine. A kind employee helped me locate a pencil sharpener. However, around 4:30 pm today, an EMS crew with a stretcher hovered around a woman sitting at a computer. She hadn't been bothering anyone, making sounds, or causing any issues. She was just sitting there. They proceeded to ask her questions about how she was feeling, what day it was, etc. She was talking coherently but the three EMS employees and a library employee had her circled for at least 15 minutes after taking her vitals and wouldn't leave her alone. Obviously I don't know what happened. But I saw them wheel her into the ambulance. Beware if you're having an off day, or act a little eccentric. You may end up taking a thousands-of-dollars little ride if you don't answer questions to someone else's liking. Disturbing and uncalled for. read more

The library facade is nice. The assistants at the front desk and resources center were helpful. However, there's something very odd about this particular library that is the extreme absence of sports reference material. Maybe what's commonly found in other libraries is too sensitive here? Very very disappointing. So, giving up on the bare to bones research isle, I explored the building finding at least a few videos to borrow. Maybe my expectations were too high? read more

Me and my kids love the size and selections of this library. Located in a great location near shops and places to eat.

During a weekend visit to Springfield this past winter, I stopped in to the Library Center to do some studying. I'm an avid reader and this library blew me away. It was the largest, most comfortable library I have ever visited. There are plenty of tables and seats for visitors as well as a coffee/bakery and gift shop. read more

Arguably the best library in southwestern Missouri. They've got everything you need, and a huge selection of books and movies!

The meeting rooms are amazing. This is a tremendous service to the public. The library itself is awesome. It's a breeze to get on one of the computers if you want to check email or something. Print-outs are cheap. The architecture is fabulous, too. I especially love the way the names of famous authors are inserted in the flooring of the entry hall. read more

The children's area is captivating for both adults and chIldren. The seasonal displays are creattive to attract all readers. The historical artifacts are accessible to patrons. We have lived in a few different cities in different states and thought a couple of those libraries were very nice. After seeing this one I am very impressed with what this library has to offer. Very well laid out, great reading rooms, and places for larger classes. With the little place to eat and get something to drink, you have a very nice snack option those days you may be cramming for a test or presentation that allows you to not leave. The summer kids reading club activity chart is something that is a cut above also! It really gives the kids a reward for completing a few hours of reading over the summer. The card they get is for discounts and free items from local businesses around the area. The kids library is ok in my opinion and is the area I would say could be a little better. I have seen some make this area very cozy so kids just want to plop down begin to read. Great library though! read more

The Library Center is a great facility. They have nice spaces to sit and study, a huge children's section, a separate area for teens, plus the special sections for genealogy and business resources. There are also meeting rooms with a wide range of sizes that groups can use for free. Check out the events calendar - there's something for everyone from toddler story times, to concerts, to educational workshops for adults. Just as five stars says, this center is "as good as it gets" for Springfield, MO. I am here as much as possible, and who could blame me with a friendly, helpful staff, great coffee, and the loads of wonderful books there isn't enough time in the day. Their selection can be limited, but they are usually able to get most books within a day. read more

I have also lived all over and been to many great local and university libraries. UC Berkeley has like nice libraries, and I spent lots of hours there. I like this one better. That's right. This one is truly amazing. It is very well planned. It is inviting. You can check out an I-pad for free. Large & small meeting rooms, nice study tables. The wifi can get slow at times. There are separate themed sections, teens, kids, business, etc. The restaurant is a little pricier than I would like to see, especially since the location of the library is not in a walkable area. That is the only super BAD thing about this library is that it is FAR out from everything. There is only 1 bus that goes to it and I am a public transit nerd. The food at the cafe is really good, but expensive for a student on a budget, and there aren't any affordable places in walking distance. One plus, is that the food is a lot healthier than what I usually eat. The servers were cute and friendly. The shelving staff aren't super friendly. There was a water bottle on top of the I-pad kiosk for over an hour. I tried to flag down the guy shelving audio books, but he totally ignored me. I dunno maybe he was just a guy doing court ordered community service or something or in a bad mood. But I love this place anyway! One thing that I love, is that you can print using their printers via smartphone, your own pc or tablet with their mobile printing feature. I could live here all the time. I love the Library Center! It has great variety! Almost any book you could want is in their selection, and the staff is extremely friendly and ready to help you find what you need! I love that they have a big selection of audiobooks, cds, dvds, and I love going to the Mudhouse located near their lobby to get a cup of coffee to drink as I spend time in the library! They have lots of seating and it is a great place to go to read, sit and do homework, and they have lots of rooms you can use for group projects or other meetings. I've never been to any of their programs, but they offer a lot of activities for kids and for the community. read more

I love this library so much. It is one of the newest/largest here in Spfld, MO. Staff are all very helpful and full of smiles. Lots of computers to use and even tablets to learn how to use. The DVD loan out program is our favorite now that we no longer can afford cable. Plus we can see the whole season of our favorite series that we don't own, like JAG/The West Wing/ER/NCIS just to name few! Plus they have an auditorium where we Downton Abbey fans got to see the 1st episode of the Final Season 6 in Dec before it was on PBS here in Jan. Woo Hoo! Getting to sit in a room with a group of loyal fans was the best thing yet!! read more
