Not helpful and not looking out for your best interest. They don't know the system and over charge. Last year I was penalized because they did it wrong which cost me an extra $1500 and charged me $550! I'm a self employed single mom, and they said I owe $4,000 in taxes! No deductions and didn't even call me to go over how I could reduce it. She sent an email 3 days later. I could have done it better myself. Save yourself money and frustration and go to a real professional that can save you money instead of not caring and making you pay the max. Then she told me I wasted her time. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS OFFICE. I'm giving this office two stars ONLY BECAUSE the women who work there are nice. In 2019, Andrea forgot to file the correct paperwork for my 2019 taxes. So for almost 8 months, I was left hanging during the pandemic without a tax return. To give them a second chance, I went back for my 2020 taxes. When I was told I'd owe more money than I have EVER owed before, that was the red flag for me that I knew they weren't doing a great job. I went to a second tax professional and now am receiving a return. The Andrea's neglected to tell me as an independent contractor HOW MUCH I CAN ACTUALLY WRITE OFF. I don't think these ladies want to work that hard nor do I think they care to help out their clients as much as others. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would! John Darius charged me $975 for a so-called amendment and promised a return. He must've thought I would forget, I have been asking since April 2017 about the return and I was told that he was too late to file for it. So I asked Andrea, who owns the liberty tax and others for a refund and she keeps telling me she'll get back to me. Either way I paid them $975 for nothing and I want it back. I went in today and spoke to Kelly who tried calling her at home, Andrea did answer, however once she found out who was inquiring, she said she would not take the phone call and hung up. Complete ripoff, I got my bill and they charged me over $500 for nothing. They should really be ashamed of themselves. Do not go here for any reason they will screw you!!!! Really disappointing. Last year I went to the Liberty Tax Service in Redondo Beach and so I was expecting the same level of service but I was sorely mistaken. The first day I went in Kim "helped" me but it was a Sunday near closing time and she lied to my face and said she couldn't pull my previous years tax returns. When I couldn't find them a week later I called and Andrea said that wouldn't be a problem. Neither of the girls I spoke with made any attempts to ask questions about deductions I could take on my return. Luckily I had written down quite a few so I hope I got the return I was expecting but I doubt it. The person at the Redondo Beach location from the year before asked me a ton of questions and I don't believe I would have gotten such a great return if I it wasn't for him. I will definitely make the drive back to Redondo next year and will never return to this location. read more

The office is convenient and casual, and the tax preparers are all friendly and very proficient. Taxes have been traumatic for me in the past. My first accountant was a crook, my second accountant got another job and my last accountant had a nervous breakdown. I figured why not try the kooky little place near my house - what do I have to lose? It was actually the other way around - what did I have to gain?! This place is the biggest scam!! I literally walked out of there seething & disgusted with their unethical practices! I called and booked an appt. a week early. I asked on the phone the filing charge for 2 W2's with an income of $5k and nothing else to file. (I know, I know) it was a relaxing year, ok??! Anyway, they said about $75 - good enough. I went in, sat down, had some lady literally asking me ZERO questions - am I single, married, homeowner, etc?? It was ODD! I had to initiate all the details of my life to make sure she was filing correctly. I also had service industry W2's - she didn't even ask if I had additional tips to claim! After about 10 minutes, she said she was done & I owed them $195!!! WHAT??? WHAT??! Yeah, $195!! Long story short, I inquired why it was so much more than i was quoted??! She said they had to complete a low income form which took another 5 minutes. So for 5 minutes & a one page form it costs $120 more??!!!! She said, "we have to make our money somewhere. We can't survive on $75 returns." - No joke. That was their justification. I hope to save other people from this shady operation!! read more

I bought a voucher for tax services on Plum District. And I am SO happy I did. For $99 we got our taxes done, off my plate. We are receiving a refund for federal and state. And with TurboTax the same services would have been $80 without any help. The initial appointment only took about 30 minutes and I emailed the missing information to Andrea from the comfort of my home. I am impressed with this office and would recommend them to anyone. I have had the pleasure (yes, I said pleasure) of having the wonderful people at Liberty Tax Service in Costa Mesa prepare my taxes for the past 4 years. Andrea Bogdan is the bomb! Every year I wait until the last minute (I even have a nick-name to that effect) and every year she is still there, willing to let me in the door. I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes or so, even without an appointment. I sit down, jaw clenched, knuckles white, and she gets me through it with a professional demeanor that is at the same time friendly, warm, charming, and reassuring. She listens to my income earning situations each year (sometimes an employee, sometimes straight commission, sometimes self employed, sometimes a child as a dependent, sometimes not) and always knows the ins and outs of every situation to get me the best result! And so quickly! It only took an hour today! Honestly, people, don't go anywhere else. It is SO WORTH the money to have someone this knowledgable and fun prepare your taxes. I am going to update my one star to a 3 star.. Only because the owner of the company read my review (a year latter nearly) and looked up my information in their system there and located me. It was a little weird to have her show up at my job. But she wanted to extend an apology offering a complementary gift certificate to file my taxes along with an additional $20 off coupon that I could use some time latter. She explained that they did let go out that jerk of a manager that left a bad taste in my mouth about Liberty Tax Service and invited me to return. I am only writing an update based upon the customer service. True it was nearly a year latter but to follow up was nice. I am going to just stick with the people who have been taken care of me at Casa Blanca in Orange. I really was not a fan of all these hidden fees that I was quoted at Liberty Tax and they are a pop up shop meaning after tax season they are gone. Casa Blanca is there year round. I was an idiot to go to another place all these years. I received a notice that I owed more taxes from 2011. My tax guy (whom will go unnamed) had a month to review my issue and he was the one whom prepared my 2011 taxes in the first place. Well long story short...he dropped the ball and my dead line was today. I know nothing about taxes and it was all too confusing. I decided to just pay the 2700$ california "said" I owed. Last min, I called Andrea at 145pm and told her the situation. Mind you, she was not the one whom prepared my 2011 taxes or even knew anything about my tax situation. Also, I'm telling her I have a dead line in a few short hours! She immediately told me to come in as soon as I could. I came right in with my paperwork. She reviewed my situation, a short time later with an extremely small fee (talking peanuts compared to the 2700$) she had filed my "protest". I don't know the correct verbiage here. She even asked if I needed to run errands while she did the dirty work!!! I am ever so thankful and liberty tax just gained a new client. Thank you thank you so much!!
