On December 19th, 2024, I was in a car accident that was not my fault another
driver made a left directly in front of me and even though I slammed on my brakes I still hit the other vehicle. The accident itself is not the problem the problem is the way my car insurance has treated me.
First on the 30th of December I was told the car would be repaired. On January 13th, 2025, I called the repair shop to see how my car was coming along only to find out it was declared totaled. At that point I contacted my claims rep Yolanda Gentsy and she verified it was being totaled. My car was a jeep liberty
arctic edition with 84,000 miles in mint condition with a lifetime Mopar bumper to bumper warranty that you cannot get anymore and was the worst part of the loss. There were only 1130 of these made in the US so comparables are difficult to find. From this point on I have been lied to repeatedly by my claims
rep, told to expect phone calls that never came and given super low comparables to my vehicle in an attempt to get me to settle for a much lower amount then my cars actual value. The first comps they used
were jeep sport and latitude models with them showing as 19 comparables with only 1 arctic edition used. This continued several times over and over and over they were using lesser models that in no way were comparables. I then went on carguru and autotrader and found actual jeep liberty arctic editions
with similar mileage and no reported accidents. These comparables brought my estimated value over $12,500.00 but they were still using models that were not similar and again over and over they were coming in at a value of $8,800.00. On the jeep liberty line, it goes with the base model sport, then the
mid-level latitude, then the high level limited with the highest level being the special editions like my car.
Finally, I got them to use only jeep liberty arctic editions as comps and supplied them with 9 I found online that were under 100k miles with no accidents and the same options. Instead of using the comps I found at this point they found 3 comparables which 1 was a comparable I sent them. Of course, when I
looked online at the comps they were using 2 of the 3 had accidents reported and even in the pictures you could see visible damage. I asked them to use the comps online I found, and they refused to use my comps stating they were too far away, so I adjusted my search and provided them with the 1 comp they
already used that did not have any accidents and 2 others bringing the value of my car to again over $12,500.00 but they still only came up to $9,000.00 even though these comps I provided were in the same area they were using but unlike their comps that were low priced and had obvious damage,
accidents reported and missing options they still refused to adjust the value. This is now February 10th and I'm without a car once they decided to total the vehicle the free rental ended on Jan 21st, and I cannot buy a new car until I settle the claim on this one. I went as far as requesting to speak with my
claims rep's supervisor Richard Buydos and though he claimed he would help me and look into my problems with my rep he has done nothing except refuse to return emails or calls. It seems like they are deliberately trying to wait me out by not returning emails or calls knowing I have no transportation. I
simply want what's fair and that is the exact opposite I have received from Liberty Mutual. I cannot believe the extent this company has gone to to wear me down and for lack of better words jerk me around with this claim thinking I will just give in so I don't have to deal with them anymore.
A fair resolution would be for them to use actual comparables like they are supposed to do. Using lesser models, cars with reported accidents, cars with visible damage, etc etc is not how this system is supposed to work. I did the same thing they do and checked carguru.com and autotrader.com and set searches for vehicles with similar mileage and condition as my car. It is not easy to find these cars because they were so limited when they were sold but I was able to find the comparables needed but they refuse to work with me. I expect them to use these comparables and bring the totaled value of my vehicle to a fair value. Worse I have been asking why I'm still covering a vehicle that was totaled and would like to get the money back I paid for the insurance. I paid for my coverage in full last summer and expect a refund for the car since it has been totaled but since they refuse to answer emails or phone calls I have no idea if I'm going to get that money I paid back. read more
