I will never complain about Geico again. I bought my new car and received an invitation in the mail for one of Liberty Mutuals Hyundai programs. I called at 11:30 pm so I will assume that's why there was an unusual call volume and I was on hold for 30 minutes. The woman who graciously took time out of her day to "help" with my quote was hardly charming nor pleasant. I thought maybe I had dialed the wrong number, this couldn't possibly be the customer service department, right? Wrong. She sounded as if she was bored of our conversation and had no problem talking to me in a tone that was supposed to make me feel stupid. I think the best part of our conversation is when she looked up my info and asked: "Your name is Johnny Clark?". What do you think lady? After all this. she informed me that I don't meet the guidelines for auto insurance. This has got to be a joke, right? I just spent 30 minutes on hold only to be told by a female version of Squidward that I don't qualify? When I asked for an explanation, she informed me I'd get more information via mail within 10 to 14 days. She then thanked me for calling Liberty Mutual and hung up before I could say anything else. I'm quite thankful I don't qualify, knowing I'll never have to speak to that customer representative again makes life a little more beautiful. Although I will say when the day comes that I do "qualify" for Liberty Mutuals "rewarding" programs, this experience (while enlightening) was enough to convince me to never give them any form of business. Liberty Mutual can rest assured knowing that Ill be informing everyone and their mom about the All-star customer service they boast so much about. Worst company to deal with ever. One of their insured did a hit and run on my wife. 2 months later I'm still waiting for them to reimbursed me my deductible while "they do some further investigation". They want me to provide a police report. But they wont give me the $10 it'll cost me to get it.They don't like to part with a penny until they drag you thru the wringer. read more

RUN AWAY! PLEASE! PLEASE! TAKE MY ADVICE HERE! I have my car ins. through Geico. I attempted to bundle my homeowner insurance with them for a good deal. They linked me with Liberty Mutual. I also have a rental property. They are in charge of my residence ins. on my house and I added my rental property purchased in OCT 2017. Payment was escrowed in with my mortgage. OCT 2018! I receive a letter from my mortgage company telling me that as per my contract I am required to have homeowners ins. on my rental property and I have not had any since DEC 2017. I was in complete shock as I was not aware of this. Never received on single letter to my house. And they sent the letter to my mortgage lender A COMPLETE YEAR LATER! WTF? So my lender tells me that if I cannot show prof of coverage, I will need to back pay THEIR coverage which is over DOUBLE THE COST I NEGOTIATED FOR WITH LIARS I MEAN LIBERTY MUTUAL. My mortgage lender tells me when I call that they called to inquire and the person on the phone at Liberty Mutual tells them it is a mistake and I am actually covered through March 2018. Mortgage company says please fax us the paperwork. person at LM tells them sure thing. THEY NEVER SEND IT. Even when my mortgage lender calls they do not respond to their inquiry for documentation. I later find out that they confused my rental property with my residence property and incorrectly informed my mortgage lender of the misinformation but did not bother to follow up at all. That is just one small example of their screw up...The real screwing they left me with follows: I call LM. They tell me that the ins was denied in DEC 2017 because the ins. verification adjustor drove by to review the property and the report caused the underwriters to deny insurance. Couple things here: 1. Report states that shed was in bad condition (It is the most solid building on that block, no rotting, roof excellent, not even paint chipping! Then the report said there was "debris in the yard". Why was their "debris in the yard you ask?" Because I was replacing ALL of the plumbing in the entire house which one would think would decrease any damage in the future. It was expensive but I did it! The adjustor must have been drunk or simply stupid on that day. However, LM sends me on single piece of junk mail looking letter telling me the ins. was cancelled...why did I not respond you ask? Good question...BECAUSE I NEVER RECIEVED IT! The idiots sent it to my rental house and it got thrown away! Every time I call this LM, they make me verify 1. my address 2. my telephone number 3. my freaking email WHY?! WHY do you need all of that if you're never going to freaking use it to contact me for something important?! If I owed you money you damn sure would contact me using ALL OF THOSE methods. I ended up having to pay back insurance at $1,400 for property I now insure WITH SOMEONE ELSE at $545! They offered zero help and totally shucked blame. You are a fool if you use them. You have been warned. I have been encouraged to file a law suit; however, I would need to be certain they would have to pay attorneys fees. read more

We shopped around and found that they offered the cheapest policy. Haven't had to file a claim with them before, but this spring a car backed into my door while parked! It wasn't my fault. The claims accountant was very patient. She first asked if I was ok or needed them to call 911. I wasn't hurt but I was a bit nervous and she put me at ease. I had some but not all of the information from the other driver. They followed up with him and found out he did in fact have insurance (whew!). Even before that was all sorted out, another agent called and took me through the process of evaluating the damage. There isn't a Liberty Mutual location nearby so they were fine with me taking some photos and emailing them to them. Within an hour they sent me a detailed cost-estimate. The man who did that work was very helpful, friendly, and precise. They gave me the option of being paid up front (I did) or having them pay the repair shop. They had preferred shops I could go to or I take it where I wanted--and I brought it to a place that my local friends recommended. I showed the shop the estimate and they said they could repair it for that price--and they did. Car looks great. I got paid for all of the work. I am not a fan of big companies but this one did me right. Not sure about these other reviews--maybe the company realized it had a problem and worked on customer service but I will keep my policy and would recommend them. read more

3/30 12:30am car stopped functioning after driving through a puddle. called insurance company, waited 2h30mins for tow. tow company was not able to tow vehicle to requested autobody shop because it was closed. 3/31 had vehicle towed to mercedes benz in union at own cost. 4/2 vehicle diagnosed by mercedes benz. requires engine be replaced 4/3 11:55am filed claim with insurance company, and requested vehicle be repaired at the mercedes benz. liberty mutual requested vehicle be sent to their own approved repair shop. 4/3 5:00pm confirmed with benz dealership, appropriate documentation and photos have been sent to liberty mutual insurance adjuster. 4/4 confirmed with insurance adjuster, required documentation has been received, however, since the vehicle did not go to an authorized repair shop, the appraiser is unable to get to view the vehicle for another 5 days. was informed the closest repair facility is only 2.5 miles away from the mercedes benz dealership the vehicle is currently at. if the vehicle was towed from mercedes benz to the liberty mutual authorized repair facility it would be appraised today. requested to have that appraiser drive 2.5 miles to authorize repairs on my vehicle. was informed that they could not do that, and the soonest they would be able to view the vehicle would be 4/9/2014. informed liberty mutual that this is unacceptable, i do not have rental car coverage, and this delay is of no fault of the dealer, but, it is the fault of liberty mutual, as they first requested the vehicle go to a closed auto repair facility, a&m in jersey city. tow truck would not deliver the vehicle to this repair shop, as the shop was closed. liberty mutual requests visual of damage to vehicle, even though they have been provided with photo's, diagnostic, and have spoken to the expert at mercedes benz that the engine of the vehicle needs to be replaced. was informed by denise that even though this delay is the fault of liberty mutual they will not cover a rental vehicle, because the policy does not cover rental car coverage. denise then informed me that according to my policy, "liberty mutual has up to 30 days to inspect or approve/deny a claim. also filed a claim with nj state dept of banking and insurance, as well as better business bureau. read more

Homeowners and Auto Insurance: I write so much so that you can make informed decisions. Switch to AMICA for competitive pricing with a reputable, descent, honest Insurance Company. I say that having no affiliation, benefit or obligation to Amica. Liberty's Home Coverage, their RightTrack Discount, Accident Forgiveness and other benefits are an advertising stunt to me. They really don't get paid in many instances as Liberty cleverly offsets any benefit you should get by denying claims, compromising claims or with other charges, increases and trickery. The benefits are discretionary; despite Liberty Mutual's promotional literature and representations. Let me first establish that I believe my opinion to be true from my own firsthand experiences insuring ourselves and in representing others under a Power of Attorney. In writing my Review, please also know I am a bonded Public Insurance Adjuster and have dealt with numerous Carriers and Courts over the last 15 years. As an Industry Expert, I took an OATH OF OFFICE and provided AAA Judicial Services for 17 years on small and large claims over $10 Million, and served as Panel Chair in 3 Judge Proceedings. I also did Mediations helping many people resolve there problems. Please do not think I am simply a complaining homeowner when I recommend you never Bind a Liberty Home or Auto Policy and further, immediately switch your coverage to AMICA before a disaster occurs and you are forced to rely upon them. By way of explanation, I have seen some of their claim work and purchased their Home and Auto Policies getting us all the bells and whistles they were offering. My Wife & I voluntary paid far more for Liberty Mutual policies than were quoted to us from other Carriers. My wife can cut napkins in half, save plastic market bags and squeeze a drop of water from a dime! As a Public Adjuster, I know how important it is to deal with an honest Insurance Company. Under an Oath of Office I therefore tell you in no uncertain terms, do not deal with Liberty Mutual. They have some folks they marginally treat right to avoid claims reporting and so they can use them in their nationwide promotions. Unfortunately, as a factual matter, I found they were not good people in our dealings and therefore refused to renew our policies. First, without written notice to us, they unilaterally billed and charged our mortgage escrow account with an increase exceeding 10%. The LAW STATES Liberty must send you written notice. Trying to get a Department of Insurance to enforce anything is joke, when we asked, those people decided Liberty had something buried somewhere in their Website so they were not charged with the crime(s). Apparently they argue we [unknowingly] agreed to this by going online and clicking Liberty Mutual? Let me say the meaning of a "Contract" has been quashed as they do whatever they want, change and modify whatever it is you think you agreed to; then claim you have no rights or remedies and your dispute is extinguished under false pretenses. In my world people agree to contracts and must knowingly accept changes and modifications. I found Liberty completely disregarded this whole concept & in so doing, takes unfair advantage. Next, their RightTrack program and discounts are nothing more than a Advertising Campaign which constitutes a material misrepresentation to me. My wife and I used their tracking devices and driving slow like the grandparents we are, we each qualified for 19% Discounts. I got dinged for slowing down to avoid running over a squirrel. Then Liberty claimed they gave us 5% of the 19% in the original premium (although they never quoted any separate amount showing us the original premium was 5% more). Incredible gamesmanship. Then Liberty claimed the 19% (or 14%) discount did not apply to some of the limited charges they did itemize, so it wasn't 19% or 14% it was less. Then they claimed whatever manipulated discount they admitted to --- did not apply to the policy period making it even less by prorating. It was reduced by 4 or 5 months. It almost turned out we owed them money! (HaHaHa) When I started asking them for specific information about all this in writing, their stonewalling program and excuses started. Liberty willfully circumvented answering questions I asked. To the extent they secretly increased our home and auto premiums by a huge amount, $700, $800, $1,000 or whatever it was (FYI: we never had any accidents), I could not even get them to properly itemize exactly what they were charging us for and why. I did have one small claim but they pulled some monkey-business to reduce the amount we were entitled to by a lot (as a PA I got it fixed but others folks would not be able to do that). The claim involved my parked Gold Edition Lexus LS-430. Yep, we had a Trump sign on our front lawn so someone came down the 350 foot driveway into our garage and slashed the tires. This company is awful to work with. Reps were less than helpful, they would claim that they never received paperwork that I know I faxed them- a few times. None of them gave you a phone extension, last name, or personal company email address. it made it VERY hard to work with them. When you called with a question, they rep acted as if you were "bothering" them. I have never worked with such an unorganized, rude company in my life. They made the past few months of working with them a living nightmare. Avoid this company at all costs if you can. read more

This is not the office I dealt with however I had to put a claim in for a car accident back in Feb. Calling for the claim was good. The person on the phone gave me claim number. I was assigned a claim contact, Jared Fisher. He never returned my calls. I had no idea if my car was going to fix or totaled. After 3 weeks I called the body shop to find out about my car. They said they were still waiting on Liberty Mutual to come give them an estimate. After 7 weeks I found out from the body shop my car was being repaired. It has been 9 weeks since my accident, The body shop called and said the car was ready. I have never seen an estimate or a phone call from Jared at Liberty Mutual. I am very unhappy. I would have expected better since I have been with the company for 36yrs. I think its time to move on. Their customer service is nonexistent. read more
