A large pickup truck parked directly behind my driveway. At 3 a.m. I was headed to work. There are no street lamps and the truck was black. I tapped the truck at 1-2 mph. Looked at the damage and saw a scratch. Left a note and was called by the owner that night. I was told by Liberty Mutual they would handle it. I looked at the damage and the owner and I agreed a little paint would fix it. When I got my new bill my rate went up 1700.00 dollars. I was told the truck I hit had 5000.00 worth of damages.I asked to speak to the adjuster and she told me rivets needed replacing and it was a lot of work. I asked where,she said "I don't know a lot about cars". Then how are you the adjuster. Someone got robbed on this repair and all directions point to me. I've been with Liberty Mutual for YEARS for both of my cars and my house and renters over the years and they have gone DOWNHILL fast. No support for their loyal clients and close to impossible to get an actual human on the phone these days. Did not help me when I had a windshield replacement done under their policy that was totally mishandled. They left gaps in the windshield so it rains into the car, it rattles, they damages other parts of the car while installing and they told me I have to pay out of pocket to have it fixed or go back to the guy who did the bad job and have him "fix" it even though he's had my car for 6 months for a repair that should have been one week and he is not capable of doing this job correctly! Prior to that, merged into a lane at the same time as someone else and did not advocate for me and said "they had no skin in the game to fight for me" so I had to pay out of pocket for those repairs too. Now I have to pay over $500 for a new windshield because they won't have my back. I'm DONE. I cancelled all policies and moved to a different company. What is the point of having insurance that won't cover a job that is so badly done that it will RAIN INSIDE YOUR CAR??? read more

Although, they're decent for auto. I recently discovered that they had been incrementally raising my rates on my homeowners policy over the years. They had done it so subtitle, that my escrow would raise a bit every year to cover it. It's only when they raised me over my escrow amount last year that I was alerted. They were charging me $3200 for a policy that now costs me $1600!!!! I had one claim for $7k in 24 years!!! Scummy thing to do. read more

My older father had an accident and after 40yrs paying premimums and being low risk, had an accient and now they raised his premium 50% and he is finally leaving them. When I was 17yrs old as an energetic male adolescent, I got into 1 small accident and had a speeding ticket, and they threatened my father to be kicked off or they would drop me. Well, I had to get Progressive Ins which was very expensive on my own, and from that point forward, I WILL NEVER GET LIBERTY MUTUAL, nor will any of my children, family,... terrible practices for a company and only wish my father left them at that time too!!! To quote Pretty Woman "Big mistake, huge" as I have been quite happy with State Farm on ALL of my insurance products I need (homeowners, life, renters, car for family,...). I will never forget how I was treated and no one from my family will ever use this company! read more

You know those emu commercials for Liberty Mutual? Well, apparently you need to be an emu to get any coverage on your insurance policy. We have had Liberty Mutual homeowners insurance for 20 years; never missed a payment. We recently had significant water damage in our home caused by a sudden leak in an air conditioning pipe. Liberty Mutual practically did backflips in their attempt to try to show that the leak was not sudden, but was instead long-term (thereby allowing them to not cover it under our policy.) Despite our extensive evidence, including photos, demonstrating that the leak was covered under our policy, they refused coverage. Will be following up with the appropriate state agencies. read more

I would give them no stars if I could. have had the worse experience with Liberty Mutual from day one. I told them to charge a credit card to ensure the first payment would be made but Instead they charge the card on file forcing the insurance to be in non-payment. I had to go bacK and forth between my bank and the insurance company to straighten the withdrawal. I was originally told the 2nd payment would be charged 2 months after the first, then when I decided to cancel, now told I owe a premium. Communication is horrible. My poor 80 yeast old mother forgot to pay her bill so she was dropped, which is understandable but when I tried to get the insurance back for her, they said they can't give her insurance because she doesn't have insurance. Really?? She doesn't have other insurance because you were her insurance. Liberty told my mother, she would have to get her insurance some where else, then go back to them. Never! Ever! These mooks practice some sort of bait and switch. I was sent a watercraft policy, along with an invoice which was promptly paid by check which they promptly cashed only to get a letter later that said they could not insure my watercraft. They said they would refund my check, of course, but I have't seen it yet. This is no way to run any business. These people need to be beheaded for wasting my time. read more
