We stayed at Liberty Hotel for three nights and could not have been happier with experience.
With only eighteen rooms hotel is rather small which is what we wanted in a small town like Catania. It is located on a quiet and not at all fancy street five minutes away from the main tourist area. Property is not very posh, but tastefully beautiful inside. Impressive lobby, nice common resting and breakfast areas downstairs. Rooms are on a smaller side as expected in most hotels in Old Europe, but everything worked and bathroom looked recently remodeled.
Breakfast buffet has been delightfully arranged and every item was fresh and very tasty. Do not expect Vegas-style dining with endless options. Selection was limited, but every item was really good. More than enough food to survive till lunch if not all the way to dinner which in Catania starts around 7 PM.
If you have a rental car to park, there is parking garage on the other side of the street, cost not included, but it is not overly expensive.
Our best experience was with staff. All of it, but especially Mr. Antonio who tends front desk in late afternoons and evenings. If not for his advice on dining options, excursions and pretty much any other topic related to staying in Sicily, our vacation would not have been nearly as pleasant. Every single time he went out of his way to make all the necessary calls, sometimes multiple times, arrange everything, and make sure that we were taken care of. Easily most helpful and personable fellow we have encountered in all of our hotel experiences. read more
