My tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and even other movies filmed there. The tour started in the basement with stories about slave workers. The tour ends in the upstairs bedroom, learning about about Alida "Harper" Fowlkes. It you are interest in historic homes, definitely check out the Harper-Fowlkes House if you are in Savannah.

We headed over to the lighthouse and got the tickets. They have senior discounts, military discounts, and various deals, but the price is very reasonable and it includes your trip up the lighthouse and you also have the museum across the street that has so much detail you can spend hours there. The view from the top of the lighthouse gives you such an amazing perspective of Tybee Island and the beach is enormous and you can see quite a bit of it from the top of the lighthouse. Make sure you're in good physical condition to walk up 196 stairs, which is like six levels up. They limit the number of people that can go up the lighthouse all at one time so it doesn't get congested up at the top. They keep just a handful of people going at one time.

A trip to Savannah can't be completed without a visit to Bonaventure cemetery, one of the most…read morehaunted areas in Savanah, about 10-15 minute drive from historical district. This cemetery is also famous from the book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The cemetery provides a tour, $30 per person. You can also do your own tour. We did not take the tour due to crunching in time. We downloade a map from the Bonaventure historical society and drove through the cemetery. We stopped at the interested area and walked around to visit famous tombs. There are many symbols and beautiful statues carved by a famous sculptor, John Walz. The most famous grave is Gracie, in section D, who belonged to little Gracie, who died in 1889 at age 6 from pneumonia. Other tombs like Hershbach angel in as well as Taliaffero in section D. Section H and F also have amny beautiful statues.

Our Ashanti Too Book Club was celebrating our 20th anniversary and this was a highlight. She accommodated us by scheduling a private tour for our group of 13 and at the time we needed. We were able to ask more questions. We started at Johnson square and ended at Forsyth park. We walked the downtown area and learned a great deal of history about Savanna. First, it was raining and they had umbrellas for us to use, a huge perk we really appreciated, because walking around in the rain wouldn't have been so great but it made the day so much better.
