My GF is wonderful at planning, so I knew nothing of this trip. The night before she said, 'babe, we are going kayaking in a swamp.' Well, ok, I guess? It was amazing. Let me start by saying that Kathryn and Fran are amazing hosts. Kind, funny, knowledgable, friendly and easy-going. Kathryn even made a mini-brownie cake for my birthday and served us while on the water during a snack break. We had some great conversations and a lot of laughs. As for the tour, it was fascinating and peaceful. We spent nearly three hours on the water, observing plenty of flora and fauna of the area. Additionally, since the water level was high, we were able to go through the forest, Kathryn's version of off-roading, and really got a lovely view of the water. Kathryn and Fran are experts at kayaking, so we always felt safe and they taught us a number of good techniques. I cannot recommend Savannah Coastal Ecotours enough. My friends and I had an amazing tour of Ebenezer Creek with Kathryn. We booked the tour several…read moremonths in advance as we were only in Savannah for 4 days. Kathryn and I corresponded via email all the details and answered all of my questions (and boy was I annoying with the questions)! We agreed on a date and location, as well as pick up at our accomodation. The week of our trip, Savannah was forecasted to have thunderstorms all week. Kathryn reached out to us and asked if we are flexible to changing the date as we originally booked Sunday, but the forecast for Saturday was more favorable. We decided to not chance it and confirmed for Saturday. Come Saturday it was a beautiful morning. Kathryn picked us up at 7:30am on the dot. She also planned ahead and had nearly everything we needed for the day, including hats and water shoes. She even had snacks and water packed for us. She literally thought of every detail!!! We were so impressed. She also was super friendly to speak with and very laid back and easy going. She even gave us a few great local restaurant recommendations in which we are very grateful for. We had a really amazing time leisurely kayaking in Ebenezer Creek (and even saw an alligator)! I highly recommend this tour and will definitely book another tour with Kathryn when I return to Savannah!!!

He was focused on the history of the town and sprinkled in the macabre. When I brought family to visit Savannah in mid June 2023, I booked the same tour hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed this time around. We had a different guide that spent a good chunk of time telling her life story. From NYC, "fashion designer", moved to the Caribbean, somehow ended up in Savannah. She could not emphasize enough how much she enjoys partying. She took us to an inn and told us the story of the inn keeper killing a man, boarding him up in the wall, and now a ghost haunts the garden. It took her almost 30 mins to tell this story, putting us almost halfway through our tour. We then stopped us at McDonough's. She said she called the back room "the portal to hell", but didn't give us any explanation as to why. As we waited for the group to get drinks she showed us pictures of "apparitions" her other tours have seen. Our next stop was Central Cemetery, where she wasted another 30 mins telling us to take pictures with our flash on and then convincing us that the lense flares were ectoplasm. My brother said he saw someone in the cemetery and she said they must be a ghost, but no they were live people walking through past close. She took us to an old theater turned bar and that's where my group departed from the tour. Overall, she was longwinded and spent more time telling stories about her experiences, real or not, than the history of Savannah & it's ghosts. We didn't stop at the Cannonball house, the 17hundred90, or Abe's on Lincoln like I had the previous tour.

Then i found that that Tauck Tours ( hgh end) includes Bonaventure in their Savannah itinerary. Very happy we decided to take this tour Our tour guides nom de plume was "Lady in Mourning" and she has a true love for the cemetery its history and its symbolism. We appreciated how she was able to convey this feeling and knowledge to us. Every city has a uniqueness and Bonaventure is that for Savannah. The tour was well paced and thoroughly informative ranging from topics such as Savannah's history, important historical figures from Savannah, architectural symbolism, and popular culture references. While the tour was very informative, it leaned heavily on historical and religious references which had my partner and I lost at times. We are all for learning about history and religion in the context of modern society, but full on history and religion is overwhelming for the average person. It also doesn't help that the history of Savannah is very white and while my partner and I are Americans, our roots lie elsewhere. My favorite parts of the tour were the breakdowns of the symbols on the tombstones (such as urns, crosses, flowers, etc.), the breakdown of generational wealth, and the resting place of Johnny Mercer (founder for Capitol Records and acclaimed songwriter). I think the tour is also easier to follow for people who take the trolley tours around the city or have previous experiences in ghost tours in other cities such as New Orleans. Since this was the only tour we did in Savannah, we felt a little uninformed compared to the other 6 in our group. But at least our tour guide was open to answering all our questions and fostered an environment where we were comfortable to learn more. I would definitely recommend Shannon Scott tours for anyone who wants to learn more about Bonaventure Cemetery and the history of Savannah in general. It was not what we expected as we were expecting more ghost stories but it was fun nonetheless. Just remember to bring bus spray because the sand gnats will eat you alive out there.

We did not go on a river cruise, but I still enjoyed standing on the ledge and having an unobstructed scenic view of the river. The sight of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge from afar was breathtaking to see. City Hall Landing serves as the ferry terminal where one can catch a free ride on The Savannah Belles Ferry across the Savannah River, connecting downtown's riverwalk with Hutchinson Island. The Savannah Belles Ferry has daily service. It doesn't run on major holidays. During our time at City Hall Landing, we also got a good look at Georgia Queen, this grand riverboat, docked nearby. The next time I go back to Savannah, I hope to go on a river cruise aboard The Savannah Belles Ferry or the Georgia Queen.

I made my appointment after about a 20-30 minute conversation about the weather and dates we would be in Savannah. I made the pilot aware that this would be a surprise for my husband as we are celebrating a special time of reconciliation in our lives. Well, we arrived, as suggested, 30 minutes early. He was so excited and of course so was I!! Well, after waiting for two hours and calling the business twenty times or more and sending emails-we left. Never even saw a helicopter. The owner finally called me back very late in the day to offer his apologies. Nothing can repair or change that awful experience.

The tour began with a charming bike ride through some of the city's oldest streets. We began the walking portion at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and meandered through several of the city's 22 well-preserved parks. We also visited the Colonial Cemetery where Paul enlightened me of several fascinating facts regarding the cemetery's many uses throughout the years. He even brought water on the tour for me! Throughout the entirety of the tour Paul was able to answer any questions I had--everything from the city's history to the plethora of botany questions I had. In addition, Paul tailored the tour to my interest in architecture and focused a lot of our time on stately homes and the original layout of Savannah.

I wanted to get the most out of my visit, so I figured it was best to find an expert to help me with that, and I couldn't have been happier to find Paul Daniels. My tour took place on June 29th. Paul provides walking tours through historic Savannah, and literally takes you back in time. He described the growth and development of Savannah in its early years, and how progression of the city as its population grew. The buildings, gardens, founders, and tough times were all described in great detail. Walking through the various squares, he was able to tell the stories of who was responsible for them, and what they meant to the community. He is clearly knowledgeable about the area, and the tour took me on a journey through history. He gave me amazing information that lasted the duration of my visit, and really helped me know so much about the area. Savannah offers numerous lush gardens. Paul also has extensive knowledge and a background in landscape design, and his ability to talk about the landscape, how the plant life exists in the warm/humid climate, and what trees are indigenous or were brought here was fascinating. It completed rounded out the tour! There is such a variety of information given on the tour, it would be great for anyone with an interest getting to know Savannah, AND is so affordable! I highly recommend Paul for a tour Beyond the Moss!
