The owner is extremely rude. I showed up 10 min late to my 30 min appointment and it got cut off after 20 minutes which was fine I understand it's my fault and I paid and had no problem with it at all. The owner then rushed me out the store and tried to tell if I ever book an appointment again You have to get "your ass here" on time. He then proceeded to talk down to me in his condescending tone like I was a child. Again I had no problem with paying for the haircut and I was even going to tip but the owner didn't even give me a chance. I don't know why the owner felt the need to talk to me like that but he was extremely rude. Liberty Barber shop is the dopest place to get a haircut in Orlando. The barbers are all amazing and very talented. You can't go wrong with any of them (Vicky, Jimmy, and John are all amazing). I have never had a better more consistent hair/beard cut. If you want to look your best before a date, a night out on the town or just a normal day at work Liberty is the spot. Beyond the amazing cuts, an appointment at Liberty is actually fun. If you are social, you will be engaged in conversation like you are chilling with a group of old friends. Fellow Yelpers, It has been a long time that I've been on the hunt for a true gentlemen's barber who knows his way around a cut and can handle a pair of scissors with surgeon like precision, you'll find that John is just that guy. Searching through the top places for a man's cut in the Orlando area yielded his modest yet lively shop as the best option in town. Reddit approved and yelp approved; it can't get much better than this. John is the sole owner of this barbershop and its only tenant as well. The establishment adjoins a tattoo parlor on Primrose in the aptly labeled milk district of our beautiful city. The outdoor walls are decorated with some great graphics which will turn any unsuspecting passer-by's head for a second look. Relying upon his reputation as a solid and consistent barber and word of mouth, John has built quite the nice following as his shop fills up rather quickly on almost any given day. The space is rather limited with only a handful of chairs available and if you suffer from lower back issues you may want to bring your orthopedic pillow or just sit in your car due to stiff cushions on his waiting chairs. He sells some great products (suavecito pomade, etc.) and the decor goes along quite well with his personality and the shop's motif. It seems as if he has put together a reflection of his persona in barbershop form. It's an interesting observation. The prices are extremely reasonable. The waits are a drag if you stumble in later than 945am (guilty, waited until past two to get my cut) on a Saturday or past 10-11am on most week days. The spots fill rather quickly so be sure to arrive super early to get in on the action, you won't be disappointed. Sign in on his white board by his table where the pomades are on display and await your turn happily and [definitely] patiently as he does not put up with BS. A legit old school type of guy with regard to how he handles his business and work. He does early appointments, but book early because once more he fills up very quickly in this area as well. You will definitely pay a premium by having a special spot, but hey, it's entirely up to you if you are willing to dish out the cash; many are... There are several different barbers to choose from within the small building that houses 3 barber chairs. You can view and read their specialities on the shops website. The waiting list can be extensive for certain ones, but for good reason. Liberty Barber Shop is actually known for their beard services, so if you have a beard do yourself and get pampered here sometime. I most recently had my hair and beard trimmed by Sharon. She was extremely nice and funny, but most importantly she did an excellent job taming my much neglected hair. At $26/haircut and $26/beard trim (plus tip obviously) its not a cheap option, but the quality is top notch and I would much prefer to support a local business and its employees than a chain hair place. I've been getting my haircut by a chain store near where I live (Great Clips) for the past few years. About a few weeks ago, I was driving through the area (after getting some delicious donuts from Valhalla Bakery), I came across this barbershop and it had a sign outside saying "Walk-Ins Welcome". I figured why not, I haven't been to a traditional barbershop in quite some time. As soon as I stepped in I was greeted by two young gentlemen, Alex and Tito. Tito was my barber for the evening and along with getting a haircut, every customer is offered a complimentary drink. I showed Tito a picture of the haircut I wanted and he said he could deliver on it. I will say this though, I haven't had a good laugh in a long time until that haircut. There were times I had to apologize and bite my tongue to keep myself from laughing. Tito is an extremely hilarious young man. Once the haircut was over, I looked in the mirror and I was honestly surprised. I've been getting the same haircut for the past couple years, but Tito's haircut stood above and beyond all the other times I got a haircut. Normally I was never pleased when I got my haircut, I usually had to wait for my hair to grow a little bit then I would be satisfied. However, with Tito he did absolutely what he said he'll do, and delivered on his promise. I used to think that haircuts were a time-consuming chore, but I had a wonderful time and laughed my ass off! What's even more amazing is that apparently Tito is the newest employee of Liberty Barbershop yet everything he did portrayed him as a well-seasoned veteran! I'll preface my review by saying the actual haircut I got was great. That being said, the whole aesthetics (minus the beer which I guess is cool?) and S.O.P. they have going on there really sucks. I texted the barber and they said they had an opening at noon. Perfect! I had the day off and was leaving on a business trip the next day so I arranged my errands accordingly. I show up at noon and I can tell a guy just sat down in the chair and started getting his haircut. I kind of felt awkward because the barber had no recollection of me communicating with them then after going through their phone says, "oh. ok. Well, I have a 4pm open". Wait, what the f*ck? I thought it was at noon...which is why I came in. Oh yeah, that's the catch! There's an open slot where you show up...THEN you can make your appointment. And the best part of all is you pay up front to reserve your slot! I begrudgingly followed through, but I can imagine many people become pissed off once they realize how things work. If you work full time, or don't live very close to this place, it essentially becomes a huge pain to get a haircut. If you work unconventional hours, live/work really close to it or just really love this place then I guess it would work for you. 1 star for the business itself, 5 stars for the awesome haircut that unfortunately is inconvenient for me to get at any given time. read more

My regular barber was unable to cut my hair this week so I figured- given that I'd heard great things about it- that I'd give Liberty a shot. It appears that'll never happen. Now, I'll preface this review by saying that I'm a pretty busy guy. I have always made appointments with every barber I've had in the past so as to be in and out of the shop in an expeditious manner. I simply don't have the time to spend 2 hours at a barbershop. Accordingly, I went ahead and called the shop to set up an appointment and was told I'd have to physically come in to make one. Wait, really? I live in the UCF area and work in Maitland. So I'd have to drive to the shop, make an appointment, leave and then come back for my appointment. This completely defeats the purpose of planning ahead. Couple that with the fact that their website states that haircuts start at $14 while an appointment with Robert is $20 and one with John is $40: so I'm essentially being charged extra for a time saving service that I am not receiving. Fine, I'll come in, I figured. I asked where the shop is located and what kind of wait I could expect on a Friday after 6PM. We were on the phone for roughly 45 seconds and I could hear the frustration growing on the other end of line. Finally, and rudely, I'm told, "Look, I'm really busy. We've got a wait. I'm gonna get off the phone. You need to co-" at which point, sensing the growing attitude, I hung up. While I certainly don't fault any skilled barber for being busy, the lack of organization coupled with the less-than-stellar costumer service I received today are reasons enough for me to skip this place altogether. read more

Alright, well got here at12:20pm on a Monday. Was told he was backed up till about 330pm. Said I could prepay and come back around then, ok. Pulled out the $14 for the cut, said that he prefers people leave him $20 so he doesn't have to remember how much change to give(Reciepts? Pen and paper?) so he just said sorry, when I didn't have a $20(only had $19) Also said 330pm is not an appointment, asked if that atleast means around 330, but he told me it I may still end up waiting a couple hours after that. I have been going to a barber shop near my home in Winter Garden and was happy with their service but then a friend of mine recommend Liberty to me and it has been a major upgrade in my look! Liberty is a bit different than any other shop I have gone to. Before your first cut, John the owner recommends stopping in, chatting up with him and his staff and figuring out what you want. Then once he knows what type of cut you want, he can recommend which barber you should go to. Each one has their specialty. John, Sharron, and Collin are the BEST at what they do. When I was trying to find a better place to go and get a great cut, I looked at many of the chain places... mom and pop places, etc. The prices Liberty charges are the same or less than many of the other places and yet, they give a wonderful, exact haircut! I discovered Sharron. She is an amazing young lady who 'never wanted to work in a salon and always wanted to be a barber'... and she is very good at what she does. I am very happy with her cuts and I always get compliments on my hair because of her! I highly recommend her... I recommend all of the guys who work there! Collin is great and John is the bomb! Another difference with Liberty is that you pay up front. In other words, when you make your appointment, you pay your cutter. Sharron, Collin and John all work independently and they take care of their own clients. By paying when you make your appointment, it kind of guarantees you showing up! But say something does come up... you can text them and let them know you need to move your appointment. Thats all cool... they just move it and again, it is paid for upfront. After my cut, I make my next appointment with Sharron, pay her for it, and then know that I am all set. This way, you show up at your appointment time and rarely have to wait more than a few min unlike other places where you come and have to wait for a barber to be free. No waisting any time! The other great feature I love about Liberty is that its small! Three chairs in a very small space make for fun conversations. Plus, John has a small fridge filled with water and beer. Depending on your schedule and such, you can grab a water or beer and enjoy your time hanging out with eveyone. I am so happy I found Liberty Barber shop! read more

It is stated that no appointment needed (see photo)--like most traditional barber shops. I drive 20 minutes to the shop only to be told that they are booked and I need to make an appointment. AN APPOINTMENT!?!?! Waste of time, gas and tolls. I really wanted to Yelp about it right there and then. However, I refrained. So this morning I decided to go to their website looking for better information, in hopes of giving them the benefit of the doubt. Only 2 vague mentions of appointments; "*Appointment prices with John are $30 and up" and "Come talk to us in person to get scheduled up!". Thus it is expected that you drive to the cozy, Porta Potty sized shop to simply make an appointment for a further date. Me and my brothers have been going to John for about two years now and I couldn't be happier. John is the man! He gives great haircuts, he's a really cool dude and does a lot in the community. His attention to detail and his memory of exactly what you want is what sold me...plus most cuts are only $10-12! He uses a straight edge to clean everything up and even though I just get my head buzzed, I walk out knowing that my hair is perfect. The atmosphere is cool too. I normally have convos with John and the other customers which is different than when you get herded through the commercial hair stylists and get BS small talk. It is actually an enjoyable experience to go to Liberty. I drive from the DP area but he has customers drive from Jacksonville, Tampa and South FL. That time has passed now and I have a good respect for a barber that knows his trade. This last year I have tried to find a good shop that could give a clean good cut, consistantly. They have all fallen short. I get a good cut one time, then a bad cut the next. So...I googled "Best barber shop Orlando". One of the first returns is Liberty Barber Shop. About the shop...first thing is first. Be prepared to wait. If you do not get their early...or even if you do...be prepared to wait. There is one barber and one chair. The owner uses a first come list so put your name on the board and be patient. I waited just over an hour to get in the chair. While waiting I timed his cuts and they varied from 15-20 minutes depending on what was being done. That may help you get an esitmate. The good news is that the wait is worth it. This guy knows what he is doing. I showed him a photo and he went to work with calm precision. Clippers, scissors, combs and razors. After about 15 minutes I was done and can say this with certanty...the best cut I can remember having. Dont be afraid to ask his opinion or for suggestions. He is very friendly and truly likes what he is doing. I dont say this lightly...the haircut I got was the best I can recall ever having. I have a classic side part with a high fade. I felt like a million bucks walking out of there...I only spent $12.00. John is not in a hurry like every other shop I go to. His work speaks for itselft and I can tell you that every guy walking out of there had a smile on his face. He has some drinks and snacks for you while you wait..good prices. Also has great hair products that are hard to find...pomades and such. He also has a large selection of great men's grooming products. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is the wait. You will wait a LONG time for a haircut. Honestly this is the only barbershop I trust with my hair . Every other place I've gone to in the past I've had to lie about liking my hair and buzzing it right off a few days after but after I found this shop I could honestly say I love my hair at the end of the day. I always get a few compliments days after on my hair and it feels so good. They are very chill people and take their time making sure your hair is done right so please no one complain about waiting a few extra minutes past your scheduled appointment. They are a tiny barber shop so grab a water or something from the fridge and chill out outside till its your turn. If you are not a patient person then don't waste your time just to go on writing a bad review later over dumb little unnecessary complaints. There are three barbers inside- John, Sharon, and Collin- I've gotten cuts by both and they're all Stellar, though John (the owner) does have a leg up on the rest. Forget corporately owned butcher barbershops, Liberty is a quality shop, with a master barber/owner, that will not reduce the quality of its cuts to get another body in the chair. This cut is so sharp and distinctive I often have people around Orlando ask me if I get my hair cut at Liberty. He has a uncanny memory for how your hair is cut and for you and every other returning customer that comes into his shop. A basic haircut will cost you just $14. Liberty now carries an extensive and definitive assortment of men's hair, mustache, beard, and shaving products. The barber will cycle you through free samples of them with your haircuts to find what best works for you. Other shop patrons often help with this also. Very difficult to get a haircut unless you are a regular or have a lot of flexibility with your schedule. I've had one haircut here with Alex and the cut was great BUT it took 4 hours of my day off to get the haircut. Would be great if they embraced technology and accepted Paypal or another source of online payment to work with their policy. Don't know about the average guy getting a haircut but I like to be able to schedule with a phone call. To his credit John, the owner, did respond quickly to my request for a walk in cut. He was polite and explained the policy to me. John the owner. "So, you're going to have to come by twice every single time you want a new appointment..." OR "You come by once to make an appointment, get your cut, and when you hop out the chair book and reserve your next one and then just text your barber if you need to change it. That's what all our regulars do." My take. So your policy is you don't want new customers willing to pay up front? Cool. Noted. Wish we could have worked this out. Guy just wanted a nice fade and has limited time. Looks like we aren't going to be able to work this out. The good reviews for this place must have caught them on a good day or just been lucky. Avoid this shop at all cost. Spent $37 on a haircut i never even received. If i could give this shop a zero rating i would. I drove down to the shop and made my appointment in person even leaving the tip in advance because they are well known for doing good haircuts. I have never had to do this with any other barber or place i have got my haircut before but i figured it would be like a consult. It is basically just so they can take your money before you ever get your haircut. Nothing else was said or done except payment and picking a time. Due to some medical issues i missed my appointment the next morning but contacted them the same day to see if they had another opening and they did at 3:30. I asked if i would have to pay again and was informed i would. I started heading that way knowing i would probably be paying a second time but asking if an exception could be made. The guy responded by saying "not to be a dick" and then proceeded to be a dick. If he would have just said this is our policy and you will need to pay twice i would have accepted that as it was my fault for missing the appointment(even though it was out of my control it wasn't the shops fault). So basically i paid $37 for a haircut i never received and to be insulted by the person who was suppose to cut my hair. To say that their customer service is lacking is and understatement, it is atrocious. I have never had a worse experience at any business period. The guys at this shop can probably give you a good haircut (although some reviews show they can't even do that) but it is not worth the horrible business process and complete lack of professionalism. read more

Stopped in during a work stay in Orlando. Tito gave me a perfect tune-up while I was away from home. Highly recommended!

This may be a good place for a haircut but for big beards I 10/10 would not recommend. My boyfriend drove an hour to get his beard cut here and prepaid $45 for the appointment. When he got home he realized the length was completely lopsided the edge was higher on one side than the other and a chunk was missing from one side and not the other. When it was brought to the barbershops attention they replied that "it was the style they were going for" and they "thought it looked great" anyone can clearly see how butchered it is in the photos. They offered to fix it which I would have taken them up on if they had not tried to give me the run around instead of just owning up to the bad quality cut. My boyfriend liked the vibe of the shop and the reply I got was the barber had a nice time hanging out with him which is fine but we did not pay the money we did for a hangout sesh we paid for a good quality cut and that was not delivered. read more
